Potential recruit - Mdu_ntr.
In order to demonstrate your skills to the Senior members of the Shinigami clan all you need to do is respond to a roleplay situation. Once we are satisfied with what you have shown us, we shall end the roleplay here and give your our judgement. If you're accepted you'll be invited to the guild and allowed to post in the Main Thread.

This try-out thread is for the applicant and the Seniors only, unless we specifically request the assistance of other members.

Your scenario begins below:

Walking down the sunlit street of Durem is normally an uninterrupted affair. Today is particularly normal and sunny, though the increasing chill of the coming winter months hangs in the air like a threat. Such things just make everything see more normal and more regular. People pass by, some walking on their way to somewhere in a hurry, others taking their time and even pausing to browse the windows of the shops that line the street.

It's such a lovely day in fact that the walk ends up in one of the pleasant parks dotted around the gothic architecture of the area. This is one of the larger parks. The leaves are turning red and gold. A particularly oddly shaped pile of very bright leaves catches your attention and you might peer at it for a closer view, or you may simply walk by it.

This, however, is no pile of leaves. A large bird, about the size of a goose, is preening its red and gold feathers in the sun. Perhaps you have seen a bird like this before, and perhaps you haven't. The latter is most likely. Two long tail feathers flick as the beak turned to ruffle at an outstretched wing. It seems to be standing on something. A book.

Suddenly the bird seems to be started as it realises it's being watched. With a trill and a flurry of red and gold feathers it takes to the air and circles. It left its book behind. Why would a bird have a book? Closer inspection would reveal it's one of the copies of an ancient and rare text from the Shinigami Library, located not too far from the park. But the question is what to do? Should you be a good citizen and return the lost book to the library? Or would curiosity get you to coax down the bird who circles above nervously? Maybe there is another path for you to take?

David Hargot listened to the rhythmic tp, tp, tp, tp of his shoes as he raced himself down Durem Street. He'd just sat through rather dull lecture on the roots of English prefixes and had to burn off some energy. This way why he'd opted to take a scenic detour through the bizarre street, two suburbs across from his apartment. It wasn't procrastination, not at all; it was important exercise.

He shot a glance at across the road to the old park, where he spied a pile of leaves. It wasn't that unusual, it was Autumn after all. His speed slowed however, when the leaves shifted. 'What?' he exclaimed as he came to a halt. The strange pile was no more a pile of leaves than he was a purple elephant. He laughed as he watched the funny looking buzzard take flight. It was too absurd! There weren't any birds like that around... anywhere that he could think of.

David walked over, curiosity drawing him to the creature. As he approached, he spotted the book and picked it up, flipping its pages without actually looking at them. He was far more interested in the bird hovering above him. With another laugh, he called to the bird, 'hey! I think you left your book behind!'

Far too absurd. He couldn't even keep a straight face as he called to it and burst out laughing again. Who'd ever heard of a massive red bird wandering around parks and playing with books?

It took several deep breaths to stop the flow of laughter and set himself down against a tree. As he flipped through the unusual book, he tried to make himself look as relaxed as possible. The book too was strange; it looked old enough to crumble to dust in his fingers. Where did the bird get such an old book? Even stranger, why did the bird have the book?

"That is a tome for various demon summoning incantations," Aya said, unmoving from her spot on the tree's branch. Body relaxed and very comfortably leaning against the trunk of the tree, the pale Shinigami Ice Queen was the picture of utmost peace. She was carefully hidden from the view of both the bird and the human down below but if the man were to search or even just place his attention on the branches of the tree, he'd easily spot the blue shirt and black pants that clashed horribly with the autumn leaves. Her eyes were closed but the man was making enough riot that she had to open them and narrow them a bit at the human. Violet eyes examined the person who had disturbed her brief rest from reading that tome that the bird had earlier been sitting on.

With an almost lazy sigh, Aya adjusted her position and let her legs dangle on the branch as she looked at the human that was sitting under the tree she was also using for it's shade. She moved her legs, wriggling her feet and playing with her sandals (they looked like they were going to fall on the human but Aya was careful enough to not let the play get out of control) like a child would. She was in a pretty good mood (the cool air and autumn leaves reminded her of her home land) and so, she didn't snap at this person.

"So...how do find that book?" she asked, pink lips formed in to a small smile as her dark hair flowed gently with the breeze, "Oh and my name is Aya. I am a librarian at the Shinigami Library. Care to tell me your name stranger?"

Up above, she could still feel the bird's heat. It was as if she was looking at a black dot on a piece of white cloth. She needed to be careful and not get too close to that fire bird and even though she knew full well that Jack would never try to harm her intentionally, his flighty disposition made her a bit edgy around him. And Aya being edgy never served well for fire elementals. Master Guyy would scold her if she were to do any serious harm to the phoenix outside of the training area.

Jack chimed almost angrily at the man who had disturbed his grooming and even had the gall to pick up the book he had been watching over. Of course, had he realised that Aya herself had taken the rare opportunity to step outside of the library and relax then he certainly would not have felt the need to stand guard. Or he would have at least taken his regular form to wish her good day.

He circled around in the air above them, though he chirruped in questioning surprise when the Ice Queen's voice echoed from the branched of the tree. She addressed the unfamiliar man bluntly and, though still too nervous to actually get close to this unfamiliar person for the moment, he circled a little lower. He was conscientious enough that he did his best to stay out of Aya's way. He knew that he was potentially dangerous to her.

The man didn't seem too threatening at least. And Jack knew that if she was watching over proceedings there was nothing to be worried about. The phoenix fluttered a little as he wheeled in the air and eventually he braved a low branch on a nearby tree, bright green eyes shining as he turned his head to eavesdrop and study this person. So it was a demon summoning tome? He was sort of glad he'd felt too lazy to actually read it in that case. He wondered if the man would be curious or horrified.

David tilted his freckled head towards where the voice had come from, half expecting it to the the bird who was talking to him. Indeed, when he first looked up he did not see the pale woman and assumed it to be the weird bird. It was quite a disappointment to him when the strange person turned around to look at him.

'Oh, hi. How long have you been sitting there?' he asked. Perhaps this was her book and the bird was just a pet. 'Why would you want a book on summoning demons?' he asked, his eyes wandering to where the bird perched. The bird and the girl were far more interesting than the book, even if he had just been told it was for demon summoning. He did not quite grasp that the book was anything other than some old mythology book.

When the girl smiled at him (even if it was a small smile) he grinned and waved at her to come down. He lifted himself up and angled himself so he could get a better look at her. If he'd had to choose one word to describe her, it would be "otherworldly". Her skin colour, eye colour and even her temperament seemed not to mesh with the everyday. 'Your, um, pet was standing on it. It looked interesting so I thought I'd give it a flip through,' he said, giving the cover another look over. 'What type of bird is it anyway? Is it from the Tropics? It doesn't look like anything I've seen.'

Knowing that the book was hers, or at least that she was responsible for it, he held the book out to her. 'Pleased to meet you Aya. I'm David. What's the Shinigami Library?'

This day was becoming more and more interesting; he didn't want it to end!

"A while," she answered to his first question, "perhaps an hour or two I am not certain. I was taking a nap and I often lose track of time whenever I am slumbering." But whoever didn't lose track of time whenever they were sleeping? Well except those who had alarm clocks and did not throw them out the window/against the wall whenever the device saw fit to do what it was created to do. Now that his first question had been answered and quite well if Aya could say so herself, it was time to get to his second query.

"That book not only gives the procedures as to how to summon several types of demons but how to efficiently banish them as well," she explained, trying to tell him that her interest lay with both reasons even though he may see that the latter was the true reason she had been reading the book. Pet? Her violet eyes swiftly landed on Jack who sat perched on another branch. Her lips twitched with amusement. If Jack was anyone's pet, it would be that DJ's...or Master Guyy's. Slowly, she turned back to the human, her smile widening a bit at his antics. Despite what he said, he seemed far more interested in Jack than the summoning tome.

"Hear that Jack?" she turned back to the phoenix, "Are you from the Tropics? I am not positive either," she let out a soft laugh before she made a mistake with moving her foot. A lone sandal fell to the grass. Luckily, David had already moved. If he hadn't, his shoulder or leg would have probably been hit. Ah...how careless of her. She was enjoying herself far too much. This would not do. She couldn't be lax. With a sigh, she slid off the branch and expertly landed a few steps away in front of David. She didn't put on her wayward sandal and instead, chose to examine the human that disturbed her moment of relaxation.

Despite the fact that she had just slid off a very high branch and she was missing one piece of sandal, Aya did not look ruffled in the least. In fact, she looked even more graceful than before if such a thing were possible.

"I am not at liberty to answer. Ask Jack yourself if you want to know what type of bird he is," she said in answer to his third question finally. She didn't know if Jack would be alright with her revealing that fact. She didn't know how both David and Jack were going to react to that but she'd thrown the ball in their court already. Too late to go back. She considered being blunt about what the Shinigami Library actually was but decided against it. Clan of powerful beings or not, they were still a secret mercenary group. It wouldn't do for her to announce to everyone where their HQ was...even if it was in plain sight. "And the Shinigami Library is just that. It is a library with a large collection of books and the collection is growing still. We get shipments of old and new tomes or books every other day."

She held out her hands, silently asking him for the book back. Her hands were thin and slender and did not look like they were meant for hard labor. Little did David know how many demons and humans she had killed and defeated with her slender fingers.

"What about you David? What do you do?" she asked him, her head tilted slightly to the side and her smile never wavering, "And what brought you to this place? Besides Jack of course."

Pet? Pet?! Jack squawked and ruffled up his feathers indignantly, managing to look utterly offended without speaking a word. He shuffled on the branch and turned away from the man that made such an assumption about him, sticking his beak in the air and snubbing him. Though he kept an ear on the conversation. Truth be told he was somewhat curious about the man. He knew Lady Aya tended only to get curious about people worth being curious about.

When she spoke to him directly, Jack turned his head to study her with his emerald eyes. He fluffed up again but then deflated, as if sighing. He turned on the branch again and in response to her question about being from the tropics, the bird actually shook its head. The closest he'd even been to the tropics was when he got to go on rare holidays to the south. And the bird even seemed to chuckle a little musically as Aya dropped him right in it. She was a sneaky one. At this rate he'd be forced to reveal himself.

Aya's explanation of the Library was both accurate and restrained. he knew fine well she would not be one to let any secrets out, even accidentally. She cared too much about the safety of the clan for slips like that. He preened at a wing as he listened in to the conversation, interested in this David fellow. All the while he contemplated whether it would be a good idea to speak up or not. For the only way he would be able to use his voice would be to return to his other form.

He hopped along the branch when Aya dropped down from the tree, getting as close to her as he dared without harming her. Though he suppressed his heat enough that David would not be able to feel it (unless he hugged the bird or something else inadvisable) Lady Aya would be able to sense it quite clearly. Just as Guyy could sense them both as easily as though he was glancing. The bird trilled again softly, light catching the gold of his feathers.

David nodded. It didn't seem that strange that a person like this would sleep in trees. It was a nice park after all, one of the nicest around.

Ok, he'd run with that. If this was a dream he could laugh it off when he woke up. This day was too odd to take anything for granted. If he did he'd probably stay up half the night wondering about her and her exotic companion. 'Ah. Soooo, were you wanting to banish demons then?' David asked, ever full of questions. 'But why did the bird have it, were you reading it before you fell asleep?'

David frowned slightly when the bird squawked, then burst out laughing when it turned around, beak raised. It did not seem happy about something; it's whole persona emanated outrage. In fact, it was behaving more like an indignant child than a bird. Birds were funny like that. He whistled to it, though perhaps it's be better if he apologised to it instead. He was about to do so when the librarian began talking to him again.

'Are you sure?' he asked as he watched the girl leap - no glide - down from the branch. He noticed how delicate she looked when she landed in front of him. He'd only seen girls with hair and eyes like hers in movies and even then most of them were digitally enhanced. When he realised she was examining him he stretched and looked up to the bird, trying to make himself look as relaxed as possible - though possibly failing and seeming slightly self-conscious. 'Hey Jack,' he called as he tried to keep a straight face, 'sorry for offending you. Are you, er, from the Tropics?'

Yep, he was talking to a bird. He was talking to a bird while a purple-eyed, demon-hunting beauty examined him. Even if this wasn't real, it'd make an awesome story for his next assignment.

When she again suggested that he should talk to "Jack" he began to realise that this girl was serious. He'd known she was serious before but now he realised she was serious serious.

'He can understand me?' he asked, his tone rising toward the end. There was a puzzled frown taking over his face now. He was confused but hooked. He wasn't sure which emotion to react to: excitement, confusion or curiosity. It was all he could do to look calm. He wanted to know more about these people and their library. Even if what Aya said was true and it was just a normal library, if it had people like her or more of the large, red birds, it was worth taking a look at. 'So, were you also serious when you said this book is about demons? Do you really use it for banishing them or are you a writer of some sort?'

His freckled hands placed the tome into her fine-boned palms. They very much looked the part as librarian's hands.

'Me? I'm a writing student,' he replied with a shrug. He was by far not as interesting as these two and the bizarre book. 'I'm just on my way home and wanted to take the long route. I only stopped because I saw Jack.'

The librarian's eyes twinkled with amusement as she observed David's reaction to her. As with all humans, being examined by a complete stranger made them slightly uncomfortable. David was an interesting human, that much she could understand. He played along with whatever she threw at him and even began speaking to Jack. Yes. Of course it was humorous to him. If Aya had been human, she would find it humorous as well that she would be apologizing to a bird.

"Something like that," Aya replied to his question of 'if she wanted to banish demons or not'. What she truly wanted was to find a way to capture the minor demons like imps and low level guards in order to use them as ingredients for her alchemy. She was simply reviewing the different methods to summon them and trying to see if she'd missed any significant information like weaknesses or spells that did not work on these creatures. She was venturing forth to unknown grounds. She'd never before tried to use demons or their life force as ingredients. She'd always used animals, plants, and willing humans. Briefly she wondered if Master Guyy would reproach her for thinking of doing almost the same experiments as the ones in the chimera laboratory. It was but a fleeting thought however and soon, she was back to answering David's questions.

"I was reading that book," Aya started and then looked up at the branch she had earlier been using as a bed, "up there...and I took a nap. I must have dropped it and Jack found it. He probably recognized the symbol." She looked up at the fire bird and gave it a small smirk. "Instead of returning it to the library as he should have however, he sat on it and began preening." It was a subtle telling off. What was a day without Aya telling someone off? It was a bad day, that's what.

"And yes. Jack can understand you. He says he's not from the Tropics by the way," she answered again as she clutched the tome and thanked him with a smile, "A writer...that reminds me. We still have that author scouring the library," she said to herself as I placed two fingers on her forehead, conveying that she was exasperated at the author but there were still traces of amusement therein. After all, he was a simple human but he still lost Master Guyy a couple of times at the party. "You should come visit the library," Aya suggested, her smooth lips forming in to a small devious smile, "I am certain you will find all sorts of...inspiration inside. It might help you write your pieces."

Or give you a heart attack.

It was a very silent thought from the Ice Queen, one that she wouldn't be voicing out anytime soon. She turned and pointed to a nearby building to their right.

"That is the Shinigami Library. You are welcome anytime there," she spoke in a slightly more reassuring tone in order to balance out her devious one earlier, "And would you bring a couple of your pieces when you do? I'd like to read them." It was not IF. It was WHEN, meaning that she didn't give David a choice in the matter even though it appeared that she did. Now for the final blow in the persuasion battle.

"I'll be waiting for you to come by David."

Jack rolled his eyes, a light and musical chuckle bubbling from his throat. When the young man asked whether Jack could understand him, he nodded. Just as Aya confirmed it. Just as he had shaken his head when asked if he was from the tropics. Clearly this was one smart bird. He stood on one leg and scratched at his neck nonchalantly.

He waited as they discussed the book, half listening in to the parts about demons. Was that what this book was? It wasn't something he'd read, certainly. But a writing student? Aha, Aya was onto something there. Maybe a writing student would distract that author that seemed to have managed to somehow integrate himself into the library upstairs. The man was like a rat. Impossible to find when you wanted him and yet there when you least expected it. Guyy had talked jokingly about hiring some kind of author-catcher.

Though when Aya lightly chastised him for pausing to preen he ruffled up again and glared at her. That was it. The bird fluffed and suddenly instead of a red bird sitting on the branch, there was a young man with long red hair and shining green eyes. "For your information I was going to take it back, I'd only just started preening. I figured I'd wait a little while to see if someone came back for it first." He huffed to Aya, folding his arms as he looked down on them from his tree.

He slipped down and dropped lightly to his feet, patting down the simple but surprisingly stylish and expensive looking shirt and jeans he wore. He was feeling casual today. "And no, I'm not from the tropics. With my complexion? I'd burn. Well... actually, I wouldn't..." he seemed to drift off thoughtfully. "I should burn, but I don't. Hello." He waved at David cheerfully. "There's a lot in the library that's even better than some mouldy old book about demons anyway." He chuckled.

"Something like that"

Usually when people said, "something like that" it really meant, "not really but I'm not going to tell you". He shrugged unassumingly, it didn't really matter. She'd already made it clear that she wasn't summoning them and besides, she was far to nice to be evil, right? 'Are there many around here?' he asked. After all, if someone like this could exist and big, red birds could understand people talk, why not have demons too?

David looked up to where Aya was pointing and whistled. 'It sure looks nice up there. How'd you get there in the first place? It doesn't look like an easy tree to climb,' he said. When the girl scolded the bird however, he forgot about the tree and gave a confused look at the bird. 'Wouldn't the book be a bit big for a bird to carry? He's smart no doubt but even a bird can't do that much.'

'Did he say where he was from?' he asked, though now he was only half listening. Had the bird just nodded to him? Did it then shake its head? He was also only half listening to her next answer as he was hoping to see the bird do something else interesting.

'An author? Do you think we'd get along. Wait, you want me to come to the library?' Her offer had definitely brought his attention back to her. When she put it like THAT, how could he not come. Of course he would have come this way next time he came home from class... or beforehand if his curiosity got the better of him but now he had to come. He had to go there now. He wanted to see this Shinigami Library and all the fascinating people, creatures and things it must entail. Even better was she'd look at his work, maybe even the author would too.

His face was flushed and he was grinning like an idiot with a new spinning top. 'Really, you mean it? I can come and you'll read my work? I- I can come now if you want. I just finished class so and I had my last assignment handed back to me today. That is, if you're sure.'

'Amazing,' he said as the bird - man - transformed. He stood there while trying to contain another burst of laughter as the redhead defended himself against Aya. He waited for the other guy to stop talking before starting up his flow of questions again. 'Weren't you a bird sitting on a branch? How did you transform? What kind of bird are you? Oh um, and hi Jack. I guess you heard me say I'm David, right?'
PostPosted: Wed Oct 28, 2009 11:47 pm

"You have no idea just how many creatures there are here," Aya answered, lips curling more and more in to a welcoming smile as he asked her how in the world she had gotten up so high up a tree. She decided to tell him the truth, "I jumped," she said simply. And it was true. Aya could jump up trees as tall as this one quite easily ever since her body had been altered. It was more of a curse than an enhancement truly. Yes she'd gotten stronger and faster but she'd also gained a lot more weaknesses. That and the fact that her body was continually trying to destroy itself, causing her to sleep seven days in her laboratory to recover from the damage her body kept dealing to itself. It was like a disease that was slowly eating away at her.

"Yes...he shook his head earlier in answer to your question,"And I am not certain if you two will get along but wouldn't it be nice for a writer such as yourself to meet a famous author? And yes...I want you to come to the library. I would not have made the offer is I had not been certain of it."

Her eyes twinkled with merriment both at Jack and at David. Both boys were equally excited albeit for different reasons. As Jack finally revealed himself and even fluffed up (no pun intended) at her, Aya had to hide a mischievous and triumphant grin. Finally he'd decided to show himself. It was quite entertaining to ruffle up Jack's feathers (no pun intended yet again). She couldn't quite contain her grin however, once David began asking Jack rapid fire questions. This human interested her a lot. As far as she could tell...he was truly normal. There was nothing extraordinary about him except for his ability to not panic in the face of two creatures who could easily kill him.

She cleared her throat to get their attention. "Why don't we talk while we walk?" she suggested but it wasn't a suggestion at all for the moment the words left her mouth, Aya slipped on her sandal and turned, heading straight for the library. "And Jack...please refrain from calling the old tomes moldy," she said as she glanced at the young man while the air around all of them began to drop in temperature, "Ilia will butcher you if you called one of her babies that."

She smiled at both boys again and returned the temperature back to normal. It was difficult to know which one Jack would be expecting a butchering from if he decided to insult the old tomes in the library: Ilia or Aya?

"Nice to meet you David. You sure ask a lot of questions." Jack grinned. His feminine face lit up cheerfully when he smiled. He was not an unattractive man by any means and seemed to have a certain flair for style. He pushed his long red hair back from his face with a slender hand. "I bet Kyle would like to speak to you. It would all be question - question - question and neither of you would get any answers." Jack giggled lightly. He waved a hand and took a deep breath. There were many things to be answered there. he may as well get to them. He ticked them off on his fingers as he replied.

"Yes, I was a bird sitting on a branch. And I don't know how I transform, I just do." He explained, though not very well. He really didn't know the magic behind it all. It was really Astrossa's doing after all. "And I'm somewhat insulted you don't recognise what I am." he huffed a bit, though it didn't seem to be too serious a complaint. Sometimes the combined egos of Jack and Astrossa could be a lot to handle in one person after all. "I am a phoenix." He buffed his fingernails against his shirt indignantly.

His haughty pose faltered however when Aya reminding him of the fate of anyone who offended a book in Ilia's vicinity. He seemed to consider that for a moment, noticing as well how the temperature dropped sharply around Aya. It warmed up around him in response, but it was not a challenge to the Ice Queen in the slightest. He just didn't like being cold. He dropped his hand and looked quite humbled.
"Yes ma'am." He murmured bashfully. He'd seen Ilia remove body parts from people who had done less. And he knew fine well Aya could do much worse if she was ever truly offended.

He quite agreed with the suggestion to walk and talk at least. His mood brightened up almost instantly. He couldn't keep a bad mood for very long as a rule, not when he had a new person to talk to. Things could be different when he was alone in his quarters, but today was a good day!
"Come on then!" He grinned to them both as he jogged a little way ahead of them and toward the Library itself.

This was amazing. He'd entered a world far more interesting than his own and now he didn't want to leave. Sure, he'd probably still have to go to classes but now he'd be able to come to this fascinating library, talk to fascinating people - no, beings - and read things far more fascinating than anything his old reality could spit up.

Something niggled at David when she mentioned the other creatures. If Jack was a phoenix, it was likely that this ethereal beauty was not human either. The fact that she could jump up to a tree branch almost proved it. He blushed slightly and and ran a hand through his hair, hoping he wasn't about to ask something stupid. 'Are you-,' he paused, unsure how to put it. 'What type of person are you?'

Oh yes, the writer. Meeting a famous author didn't seem as interesting now. It was like going to the gym after running a marathon: fun but not as attractive as it would normally be. Who cared about a writer when you were going to some strange, magical library with an attractive librarian who wanted to see your work?

'I thought phoenixes were firebirds that rose from the ashes of their previous lives. I didn't know they could transform,' he explained. How was he to know that people got it wrong? His irritation didn't last long, it was soon replaced by curiosity about phoenixes. 'What else can you do? Do you whisper inspiration into people's ears? How old are you? Were you born as an egg or a person?' He had more questions but he'd wait until those ones were finished before continuing his verbal tirade.

David listened to Aya and felt shifts in temperature. He was standing closer to Aya though so for the most part, it dropped. When they had finished talking he was about to ask who and what Ilia was but Jack started running. Ever up for a challenge, David silenced his question, burst out laughing and bolted after Jack. There was no way the feathery redhead was going to make it to the library before him, even with a headstart.

((Sorry for the lateness. I was swallowed whole by my DS emulator. xd ))

Aya was right behind the two boys and with a quick hand, she placed her cold palm on David's shoulder and stopped running. She placed her other hand on his other shoulder and firmly gripped. The strong force was quite contradictory to her librarian hands and it would further prove to David that she wasn't quite what she seemed to be. Violet eyes glanced at Jack and she opened her mouth to tell him to stop running. She kept her firm (but not firm enough to hurt) grip on David's shoulders as she issued a command as one of the Senior members of the clan.

"Cease Jack!" Aya almost shouted in her authoritative voice. Ahead...perhaps only two inches in front of Jack should he choose to obey Aya's order, a car drove by in high speed. It was being chased by a couple of motorcycles and the noises from their engines made Aya want to blast them in to oblivion. This part of Durem was known for it's quiet and not the rumbling engines of vehicles like in Aekia. If they weren't long gone already, she would have seriously killed them to make an example. No one harmed or tried to harm her charges (and that included David at the moment) and got away with it. She narrowed her eyes, determined to watch the news later and obtain the people's personal information so she could personally visit them at a later date and a nice long chat.

"Please look at both sides of the road before crossing the street boys," she said in a teasing light to both before she turned her attention to David. "Ah yes...David, were you referring to my being human or not? Or were you asking about my personality?" she asked the human male as if she hadn't just saved him from death. As if this kind of thing was ordinary to one such as her. And indeed. It was ordinary. Usually she was was the one going around protecting her clan from certain death because she had always been highly skilled at shield magic. It was one of the gifts her goddess gave her people after all.

She looked back at the phoenix. "Still alive Jack?" she asked as she loosened her grip on David's shoulders and placed her cold hands back to her sides. Hopefully, he was still standing. If he wasn't, Aya would make her way to him and try to assist him in any way she could. It wouldn't be easy however. She could not heal people like Kaori. And then there was the manner by which Jack's fiery disposition could seriously do her extreme harm. There were so many risks involved in her part but she was willing to take them for the safety of her charges.
