Out these two fantastic albums, which do you love more and why. And out of these two albums, which do you hope the new album resembles more? Or, like fallen compared to the open door, do you hope the new album is completely different, but still great.

I feel like I enjoyed both the albums equally when they first came out. The love I had for The Open Door is the same for Fallen. Right now, I do prefer to listen to TOD more, but Fallen is what made me fall in love with the band in the first place.
I think I really love the ballads that come from the heart the most. On fallen is was My Immortal. I use to play that song over and over and belt it out while driving in my car. I loved it so much that I even started learning to play the piano so I could play that song. I never quite learned the whole song but I very much enjoyed playing the short parts that I could.
When TOD came out I fell in love again. Twice. Good Enough was the first one that I heard. I loved it just as much as I loved My Immortal. A nice ballad that really showcases Amy's ability to put emotions into her work. Then, The Last Song I'm Wasting On You. I have to admit, that this may be my favorite ev song. It's hard to say though because I truly can say I've loved every song ev has put out.
So while I feel I listen to TOD slightly more, I would have to say it's so close to loving them both equally that I could not say. I guess if I had to choose just ONE cd to keep, it would be TOD. But probably because The Last Song I'm Wasting On You is on that CD and I love love love it.

[~+~] Ahh. This is quite hard.
If you were to ask me, which album i would get out in something like ten years time, i would say Fallen. As that's the album that 'made' Evanescence as such (in my opinion).
I loved The Open Door, but to me it was a completely new style. Granted, it's always been there, but never been brought out, the style of music is completely different to Fallen. (A lot of this i think is the influence of Amy Lee on TOD, as she's always liked the music arrangement aspect of everything). I love TOD album though, as it's so different to anything i've ever heard, and the arrangement of the songs themselves is amazing, i love it. I don't think from a lyrical aspect they are as strong as those on Fallen, but overall i'd still say it's a brilliant album. I certainly know all the words. ;D
Fallen is always going to be one of my favourite albums for a more personal reason i would say. It was the first proper album i was really really really into, and played non-stop (and would quite happily sing my heart out to each song, as i still do x3 ). It was also upon listening to the album that i got to go to a concert of theirs. And it was my first ever concert (which was absolutely amazing, by the way). I think my favourite Evanescence songs probably come from that album more than TOD, in that i can happily listen to any song on there no matter what my mood is, whereas TOD the music is, i suppose you could say, darker.
But overall, i would really say that Fallen is my favourite by like, 0.5%? Generally that depends on the day though. xD; So really, i could say i love them equally.
Personally, i think the Fallen album was more influenced by Ben Moody than Amy, so i think the next album will be more of a development of TOD album, which i really can't complain about, as it certainly gives more room for her to experiment, whereas i think with Fallen, it would get a bit samey after a while. And as we've heard from her experimenting, it tends to sound pretty good. c:
(Apologies if i sound like i'm waffling a lot by the way, i tend to have a habit of doing that. ;>_> )

Hmm, that's a tough question. I would definitley have to go with The Open Door though. While I love the soft songs and romantic songs that Evanescence has been known to put out there, I love their more edgier ones more, and I think in terms of which one has a bit more angrier songs to it, I'd have to pick Door.
But Fallen is pretty close. After all, that's where it all began with me (I picked up Fallen, then Anywhere, then Door, and then I went backwards and looked at the EPs and Origin).

I find it very hard to compare the two albums - they're so different! I love them both, but for very different reasons. Fallen was the first Evanescence album that I ever heard, so I've quite a strong attachment to it. Also, when I think 'Evanescence', Fallen is the album which I think of first.
However, The Open Door, to me, contains songs that seem a bit more mature and meaningful; others are just downright edgier. As I said before, my favorite between the two depends on my mood.
Now, out of ALL of Evanescence's albums, Origin would be my favorite. smile

They were both really good albums, but really quite different. They were both dark and intense but Fallen was little more, how to say it... fast-paced? I'll probably get the new album no matter which it resembles more, but I would like some more fast-paced songs

Fallen, hands down. It was more simple and the album itself was very catchy. I also really liked the "OMG ANGST" feel to it, those songs hold a lot of meaning to me. It really has the more hard rock and epic feeling to it.
The Open Door was too complex and just never caught on. I only listen to it once every month or so, with the exception of MAYBE two songs. It's just too soft and tame.

Fallen. Most definatly Fallen, there is no doubt in my mind. Fallen was basically the cd that saved me. Literally. It was the first cd that I had heard of Evanescence, and it was the first cd that meant anything to me. In Fallen, the lyrics are so dimensional that even to this day (some four years later after i first heard it) i am still finding new meaning to them. i'm what someone can call a poetry-nerd, so i love the whole layer idea. To me, Fallen is much more in depth than The Open Door. Also, i play the piano, and more songs on Fallen have piano ties: My Immortal (which is my favorite song, Ever), Hello, and some start out with piano: Taking Over Me, Bring Me To Life. And the songs are basically... lighter? with the music. Fallen is not as heavy? as Door. The lyrics mean alot more to me. I can connect with all the songs in Fallen, but...not so much with Door. To be honest, i was very disappointed when i heard Door. The songs meant less to me, and honestly there wasn't much depth. (sorry Amy!!) the only ones that i honestly like on Door are All That I'm Living For, Lithium, The Last Song I'm Wasting On You, and Good Enough. And, those 4 to me, are more like Fallen, than the rest of the ones on Door. I don't mean to be a critic, but i definatly prefer Fallen. sometimes i still cry when i listen to Fallen, even though i've already heard the songs hundreds of times. (Literally.) So, yeah, definatly Fallen. As for the new album, i am hoping that it will be more like Fallen, with alot of piano ballads, or at least like Origin. I really hope that i'm not disappointed again. But i'm sure that Amy will do fine!! Anyone like her, with her amazing abilities can't dissapoint me with another cd. Okay, i'm just blaabing... Blegh. ~Crimson

Definitely Fallen. The Open Door was awesome but didn't feel too Evanescence-ish. I guess it was just too different for me.
Fallen got me through a lot while in my middle school years. It was the first CD I ever bought when I started liking music, and it was the first piece of music that I actually understood and felt I had a bond with.
The Open Door got me through only one thing which was my first real relationship I got into once I got into high school. It was almost a two year long relationship and he ended up cheating on me, and lying to me constantly. Shortly after I found those things out it was over, and a couple months later The Open Door came out and lots of the songs on it helped me through the grieve but that album didn't help me nearly as much as Fallen has.

Fallen has a special place in my heart. The Open Door feels more experimental, not Amy's full potential.
