 Adela had been out trying to find some grass, though there was still plenty it was not as sweet as winter was setting in. Looking around and spying a few apples left on a near by tree. Trotting over and looking for a branch to pull on to knock the apples loose.

It was a big day for Alaina, her first trip away from under the watchful eyes of her parents. It hadn't been easy getting away, either. Her mother doted on them constantly and her father did his best to try to keep an eye on them. Most of the time, Alaina liked that feeling of security. Today though, she wanted something new.
In the distance she spotted something colored in black and brown. A stranger? Her curiosity drove her forwards and soon she was standing on the other side of the apple tree, watching as the strange mare pulled on a branch.

Pulling on the branch like a one sided tug of war Adela was shaking her head shaking the apples loose. Several that had been hidden in the lingering leaves had fallen down around the tree. All ripe and fresh, good for eating.
Letting go of the branch she smiled and shook again, getting her mane back on the right side of her head where it was comfortable to be hanging. Looking round and smiling at the foal as she picks up an apple.

Alaina, not yet having developed much in the way of chattiness, stayed silent as she watched the strange mare retrieve her apple. So that's what she had been doing while shaking the tree... trying to get apples. Alaina hadn't known that you could do that!
She eyed a low-hanging branch thoughtfully for a moment and then grabbed on. Imitating the older mare, she shook the branch with as much vigor as her small body could produce. Being only a foal... her efforts didn't produce much result. The apples shook but hung stubbornly to their branches. Frustrated, Alaina shook the branch harder. Why wasn't it working for her?

Adela smiles at the foal and carefully picks up an apple by the little twig that sticks out the top, walking near the foal and tossing it so it landed near her. Thinking that she was trying so hard that she deserved a rewaed for trying, especially as she was so small and the tree so big. Smiling and picking up another apple near by. "Well done." Munching down the apple before saying anything else. "I couldn't get apples till recently, I was too small."

Alaina had been so intent on her branch shaking that she didn't notice the mare about to give her an apple until she caught the movement of it dropping. She blinked and jumped then, letting go of the branch and letting it spring back upwards to its original position. It was then that she stepped forward and cautiously sniffed at the apple. She took a bite. It was delicious! She shut her eyes for a moment with appreciation and took another bite.
"T'ank you," she mumbled through a mouth full of apple.

Adela smiles and nudges another apple over with her nose. "Your welcome." Keeping a fair distance away, knowing how mothers could be about their foals and straingers. But also not wanting to scair her either. "You were working so hard you deserved a reward." Moving away a little and munching another apple, stretching a little, starting to nudge all the good apples into a pile to be eaten.
