Welcome, welcome! You might be wondering what we're doing here! You might even be wondering what you're doing here! Well, it's quite simple!

Ever find yourself getting antsy before the big Halloween event? Do you go through thread after thread, looking for something new to discuss, refreshing the manga page and wondering how you'll last? Well, that's where the GCD Halloween Party comes in!

The GCD Halloween Party is a semi-rp weekend event! It's a place for all GCDers to get into the Halloween spirit. There are games, contests and even a plot! Every year it's held in a different location, but we've got a real treat for you! This year, we've booked the old Durem Theatre!

So read the following posts, throw on a costume, get a candy pail and come on in! It's bound to be quite chilling.

A few rules and guidelines to go over to keep things running smoothly in the theater.

Rules of the Theater

1. Follow the ToS. Bet that one was a surprise.

2. Leave your drama at the door. All GCDers are invited to this party, and that may include a few people that you don't like. But don't worry, there's more than enough room to avoid them should you choose... and who knows, you might end up becoming friends!

3. Try to avoid ruining others fun. This is a semi-rp (more on that later). Funny things happen during October on Gaia, and I know some of you are super-power-half-fox-demon-half-dragon-god-vampires who could destroy any threat to the party. I also know that some of you hate role-play in any form. So, try not to blow up the mansion or any monsters (they might be friends) and try not to stomp around ranting about how dumb role-playing is. That being said...

?. This is a semi-rp (much like Gaia was in 03 and 0?). You don't have to role-play and you don't have to be great at role-playing, but others around you will be.

5. Don't kill anyone. It took a lot of paperwork to get the Durem Theater to open again, and another murd... I mean, a death might get this place shut down for good!

6. Be literate! You don't have to be perfect, but at least try.

Now that you've read the rules, just follow these steps!

1. Apply to the guild. While the guild is public, you won't be able to get guild announcements unless you're a member!

2. Read the stickies. The Foyer will cover a map of the theater as well as room description, the Thread Creation Guide will give you all of the information you need for creating threads during the party, and this sticky of course will supply you with all of the Rules and Guidelines.

3. Go enjoy yourself! Whether you're a role-player, a poster, or a lurker, we're bound to scar you for... I mean make some memories that you'll never forget!

"What's the deal with this semi-rp business?"
A guide to role-playing in the Durem Theatre.

Back when Gaia was new it was advertised as an "anime role-playing community." The character creation felt much like a video game, and you got from place to place by using the World Map. It really did feel like you were in another world. As a result the majority of the users had "characters," even in places like the GCD.

A semi-rp reflects that. It's basically posting with quote marks and a short description, a hybrid between the posting you would do in the GCD and the posting you would do in an RP. You do not make a new character for the RP, you (and your avatar) are the character. You do not have to be good at role-playing, you just have to be able to post. It can be as simple or as complicated as you want.

For example...

Quote:
*walks in*

"Hey guys, what are you up to?"

"Hmm? Oh, nothing much. We're cutting out ghost sheets for the contest."

"Sounds like fun. Where's the contest?"

"It's over in this room (thread link) There's 10,000 gold to the winner so it would be worth participating in."

Now that was a very short, very simple example. But if you take away the quotation marks it's just like any conversation you would have on the site.

Note: You do not have to RP if you do not want to, but with this RP style it will be quite easy to interact through normal posting.

Oh, and one other thing. I mentioned this before, but try to be reasonable with your powers (for those who have them). This is a party, not a battleground. It's rumored that spooky things patrol these halls, but until proven hostile it's probably best not to try to use your 1,000-year-old fire-spitting-demon-sword on them.
