"What's the deal with this semi-rp business?"A guide to role-playing in the Durem Theatre.
Back when Gaia was new it was advertised as an "anime role-playing community." The character creation felt much like a video game, and you got from place to place by using the World Map. It really
did feel like you were in another world. As a result the majority of the users had "characters," even in places like the GCD.
A semi-rp reflects that. It's basically posting with quote marks and a short description, a hybrid between the posting you would do in the GCD and the posting you would do in an RP. You do not make a new character for the RP, you (and your avatar)
are the character. You do not have to be good at role-playing, you just have to be able to post. It can be as simple or as complicated as you want.
For example...
Quote:
*walks in*
"Hey guys, what are you up to?"
"Hmm? Oh, nothing much. We're cutting out ghost sheets for the contest."
"Sounds like fun. Where's the contest?"
"It's over in this room (thread link) There's 10,000 gold to the winner so it would be worth participating in."
Now that was a very short, very simple example. But if you take away the quotation marks it's just like any conversation you would have on the site.
Note: You do not have to RP if you do not want to, but with this RP style it will be quite easy to interact through normal posting.
Oh, and one other thing. I mentioned this before, but try to be reasonable with your powers (for those who have them). This is a party, not a battleground. It's rumored that spooky things patrol these halls, but until proven hostile it's probably best not to try to use your 1,000-year-old fire-spitting-demon-sword on them.
