Personality
Personality: Sexuality and Relationships So far in his life sexuality has not played a part. He is far more interested in books and learning than he is in anything else currently. Probably the only way you'd get him to think about sex is to shove the Karma Sutra under his nose, and then he'd probably ask you so many technical and detailed questions that you would regret having done so instantly
Plays Well With Others? Check Yes Or No While he does usually prefer the company of books to others he is not unfriendly. He enjoys learning so anyone who could teach him anything, no matter what it was, would be of interest to him. It can take him a while to make friends though, since he doesn't really know how to do so, but he doesn't really know how to be mean to others either. He does look down on those who have no desire to learn though. He believes that learning is the best thing in life and if you don't agree he will get huffy about it and usually decide you aren't worth his time. Because he loves to learn whatever he can he has a very non-argumentative personality. He would rather ask questions and learn whatever someone elses's opinion and idea's were than interject his own and say they are wrong (unless there was massive amounts of research done before hand and he could provide documented proof that they were wrong).
Iko is also usually very single minded. He gets so absorbed in things that it is hard to pull him out of it and distract him with something else. This can be an annoyance to others when they try to change a subject and he won't drop it until he has found the end of whatever thread of thought he is holding onto. This makes him seem a bit stuborn some times and often forces those he is having a conversation with to continue talking about things they'd rather not or have to explain things in far more detail than they wish to. This also bleeds over into whatever task me may be doing. When he cleans the kitchen he makes even the floor under the fridge sparkle. He hates the idea of stopping a task before he has completed it as best he can.
So, Uh, Besides Looking Weird and Possibly Having Some Cool Powers, What Does Your Fa'e Do? He reads. A lot. Iko is a serious bookworm and likes nothing more than a good book, a chair, and enough light to read by (so long as it's not a candle). He likes reading books himself and he also really likes reading books to others. He thinks learning is the greatest thing in the world so if he can be a part of someone else learning something, even if it's just a moral in a story, then he feels like he's done something worthwhile.
He also, oddly, likes socks. He has a huge collection of colorful socks that he adores and loves to show off. He has them in solid colors and socks for every holiday and socks with cute designs on them. His favorite pair is a pink and green striped set with an octopus on the side. No one's quite sure why he likes socks so much but he will show off whatever pair he is wearing that day with enthusiasm if someone even so much as mentions something he can relate to his socks.
We Don't Need No Edjyoukayshun Being so interested in books Iko has always been like a giant sponge for knowledge. Going to school was always a bit odd for Iko and usually involved the use of long sleeves constantly and heavy duty make up to cover the strange markings on his skin that clothing couldn't cover. Other than the usual teasing a bookwork gets he managed to make it though things fine but not actually being important enough to bullies to waste time on. He wants to learn everything he can about everything possible so along with school he does extra studying on the side. He goes to a study school a few weeknights after school where he gets in extra teaching so he can keep up with his advanced school classes
While he does have a really good book education he is sorely lacking in social skills, practical knowledge and 'street smarts'. So he usually finds himself at a loss in social situations and doesn't really know how to react to people. He also some times doesn't really understand things that you have to learn by doing them instead of reading about them. He would be the first to hand over $20 to a random man on the street in New York selling 'genuine name brand' sunglasses.

Powers: My Power Levels Are.... The Book - Not so much a power but an extension of himself. When the spells was cast that released him from the book the words on the pages came together to build his body. Everything that was in the book became his physical form and everything that makes him alive. This is both a strength and a weakness as he is in a way physically connected to the book itself. The book itself is rather ordinary on the outside, though his guardian swears if you leave it in a quiet room it seems to have it's own heart beat, and Iko keeps it with him constantly since it is in a way part of himself. He also must keep the book from harm otherwise he will harm himself. Ex. Dropping the book results in bruises on Iko's skin, if hot coffee were spilled on it Iko would be burned.
Encyclopedia- Any book that he physically puts his hands onto he can read as if he has memorized every page. He can repeat the book so long as he is physically touching it as if he is a recording, you could ask him what the second paragraph on page 90 was and he would be able to quote the paragraph back to you perfectly. This does not mean though that he conceptually understands the information. If he does not already have knowledge of the book's subject and understand the subject he will not gain any understanding just by repeating the words (he still has to read like everyone else). He is not really himself when he does this which is why he can not learn just by hearing himself say what is in the book. Ex. If he picks up a book on quantum mechanics he would be able to repeat the book's words but he could not explain to you what anything in the book meant.
Summoning (teen level) - He can summon small angelic and demonic creatures to himself. He can only summon one of each at a time and they are -very- weak powered. Think the angel/devil things that appear on people's shoulders in cartoons/movies. The angels/demons themselves would be the sort that sits on the bottom run of the power ladder in either heaven or hell. These are in a sense little familiars that can help him do small tasks or give him advice when he asks for it
Summoning (Adult level) - As he gets older he will be able to summon stronger angels/demons to him. The angels/demons that he summons are restricted to preforming -one- task for him when they are summoned. In the summoning of angels this task can not be used to give someone great power, raise them from the dead, grant great wealth, or anything like that. No miracles. In the summoning of demons the task can not be used to harm or kill another individual, it can not raise someone from the dead, it can't take away something someone worked hard for, etc. So basically the angels/demons can not be used to do any dirty work or give anyone something special. Usually the only thing the angels/demons will do is answer questions (up to 3) that are asked to them.
Magic - He can use magic to an extent but he -must- actually be taught how to preform the spells by someone else before he can do anything. His power base only gives him an innate magical talent but not any specific spells or anything like that. And and all spells that he learns must be written down in his book for him to be able to retain the knowledge. To absorb these spells and be able to preform them when he wishes he must 'sleep' with his hands on the book for at least 8 hours. During this time he is in a completely catatonic state and can not be disturbed by outside influences. This leaves him completely vulnerable and unable to protect himself.
Weaknesses: Not Just For Wusses The Book - See Powers for full description.
Fire Phobia - He is absolutely and completely terrified of fire. He refuses to be anywhere near open flames of any sort and avoids anything that could make open flames. He avoids lighters, candles, fire places, gas stoves, etc like his life depends on it and as far as his mind is concerned it is. In the event that someone creates a flame near him he generally goes into hysterics and will get away from the flame whatever it takes often ignoring his saftey otherwise and anyone elses safety.
Exhaustion - In regards to his summoning power. Doing this takes a lot out of him and can take days worth of preparation to achieve. After the summoning he is drained of energy and usually ends up asleep for hours (some times days) after. Once he wakes up he will usually appear to be weak and 'sick' for a while as his strength comes back to him. The sickness can last for a few days to a week depending on the level of summoning he preformed.
Bad Eyesight - He has -horrible- eyesight and can't see anything other than blobs of color without his glasses. He's very protective of his glasses because of this since he knows he'd not be able to read books if he lost or broke them.
Binding. The iron bands wrapped around his torso actually bind the power in him from being accessed. He can not reach his full potential while he wears the bindings and it also means that his power can not be used by the wrong hands. As far as he knows it is impossible for the bindings to be removed since they are attached to his spine in the back and removing them would either paralyze or kill him. This also effects his basic magical abilities and keeps him from doing anything really powerful. (OOC note: I'm not sure if he will ever remove the bindings since i would rather leave it up to RP character building to decide if he is going to want to help create children or if he will want to be an ancient).

History: Some people say that books are alive. These same people are usually laughed at until the thought rattles around in someone else's head for a while and they start to wonder what was actually meant by 'alive'. Books are often written and they live for a bit while people enjoy the subject and then, perhaps in five, ten, and if they're lucky a hundred, years they fade away and die. It is a life of a sort when you get right down to it.
But what if those same words are words of power? By themselves they are nothing special but put them in the right order and you get magic. Some times the magic is just the creation of another world and other lives and the words strain to make this real in your mind. Other times ... other times the words can truly create something else. They in a way give birth to spells and conjurations and they are allowed, even for a brief second, to live in reality. Some people, in the darkness just before sleep, have wondered if putting all those strong words together could ever make the words really want to be real. What would happen if some of that magic seeped into the pages? What would happen if the book wanted to be real ...
King Solomon was said to have written two great books of magic in his life both containing powerful spells to call demons and angels to you for service. Neither of these books can truly be traced back to the powerful King but it is well known that every story has to have a grain of truth somewhere. The grain of truth to these two books is another that has been passed down through a small collection of demonoligists for thousands of years. It is the true book written by Solomon. A book powerful enough that it was taken into safe keeping almost the moment the ink dried on the last page and kept away from any and all who did not know it's true power. But you can not keep things like that a secret for ever. People can be tempted by the littlest things and bits of knowledge seeped out into the world and gained interest from the curious and the book's true existence quickly faded away as other things replaced it's mystery.
In the shadow of the world those who had been trained in the true power of Grimoire's by Solomon continued to study their trade and protect the powerful magics. Families were brought into the conclave and families died but the book lived on. It passed from hand to hand until it became more of a symbol of story than a thing of truth and eventually, forgetting it's true power, the book was left in the collection at Alexandria and there it stayed until 48 bc. Most say that the book was turned to ash like so many others that were lost in the fire and that should have been the end of that.
But an ending isn't always an end, some times it is just the start of another story ....

Guardian of the Lost Child: Name: Lysander Age: 43 Gender: Male Appearance: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/TheMadHatter/lys.jpg Personality: He is quiet and studious but has a curious streak a mile wide. He is very dedicated to his profession and to the 'business' his family has been in for as long as anyone can remember. Most of his colleagues think he is a bit too dedicated to his work but no one bothers to tell him to stop since he is good at what he does. Because of his dedication he often has a one track mind and will completely forget everything when he gets started on a project. He also has a stutter which makes him nervous and dislike talking to others since he is afraid they will judge him for it. Lifestyle: He works as a research assistant for a rare book firm and spends most of his time traveling to research leads or hunting up leads from scratch. He lives well enough thanks to a family history that would probably take up a wing of a library by itself. For as long as anyone can remember his family has been part of a quiet sect of demonologists who safeguard the location of the more powerful books and information on heaven and hell. The people who still do this are few and far between but no one is willing to let the sect die out completely. He lives in an average sized home along with two cats and an African gray parrot for companions. From all outward appearances he is a normal scholar who's just never bothered to get to know someone who's not furred or feathered long enough to get married.
Finding of the Fa'e: Short Version: "When you have a stutter don't try to preform magic that requires verbal components"
OOC Info: Lysander came across a book in his work one evening that he could remember ever seeing before. It seemed to just appear in the collection one day as if it had always been there. There were records of it and documentation as to when it had been bought and why but it seemed odd that something as historical as this particular book hadn't gotten more attention. Not being able to resist the temptation he had took the book home so he could read over it and make notes on the contents. As he made notes and figured out what the book actually was he found himself tempted to try out some of the spells. He eventually picked out a summoning spell and set everything up in his basement to preform the rite. He had everything perfect except for the fact that he stuttered a particular word. Instead of summoning the proper demon something happened to the book itself. He found himself with a toddler covered in what looked like writing of and a book with blank pages.
Lysander told the others of his sect what had happened and was put in charge of raising the child since he was the one responsible for the accident anyway. Since then he has done the best he can to make sure that Iko lives as normal a life as he can while trying to help the youngster figure out where he came from and what happened to him.
World: Earth - present (do i really have to explain this? XD )
