Is The Doctor half-human?
Yes. The Eighth Doctor said it, so it must be true.
Yes... and I think its brilliant.
No. He must have been joking.
NO! That movie was rubbish and doesn't count!

1996. Fox teams up with the BBC to bring a new version of Doctor who to the US. Sylvester McCoy hands over the role of The Doctor to Paul McGann.

Setting aside production credits, plot, acting, all of that...

Just the part about the Doctor being Half human.

What do you think? Is he? If Not, Why? If yes, Why?

Do the poll and post additional comments.

Like I said previously I liked the idea. And it's not because I'm all Trekie fan either stare

WHY IS IT SO IMMPOSSIBLE For there to be half time Lord/Half human born natuarly? I like crossbreeding XP

Okay...I'll shut up now....

its all good. Im happy you like the idea. I myself think it goes in the face of everything the Doctor is.

One would look at the 9th Doctor calling humans "a bunch of stupid apes" and have to question why if he is half-stupid ape himself.

I also cant help but think that what makes the Doc so amazing is that he is NOT human, yet he is earth's secret defender. But if he IS half-human... then it gives his actions a new reason. He's saving his own people (so to speak). And that makes all his actions a little less heroic (at least to me).

I also have issue with the idea that he is half human and keeps it such a big secret. To me that would show he hides it. The Doctor I know and love wouldnt do that. He wouldnt have lied to all those companions (including Rose) by not telling them that.

It would be one thing if they said he was half human, and then explained WHY it was a big secret. But they didnt. Instead they had him tell some random woman that he just met (who tried to have him committed an hour earlier). Id buy it if it was "exposed" by someone that knew the truth. But to toss it out as a random previously-unknown aspect of his life? Thats just crap.

and for the record - if he was half-human (on his mother's side) that would mean he was eitehr born on earth, born in a TARDIS, or his mom (Human) gave birth to him on Galifrey. And all of which are either highly unlikely, contradicts info we had already learned about him, or conflicts with anything we know about Galifrian Society.

As my theory once went...I believed that the Doctor may be half human but maybe no one else knew about it and maybe he didn't either (Ignoring what eight had said). That maybe he was born on Earth and taken back to Gallifrey when he was a baby. His Mother may never really have known what happened to him. That way his father could conceal his "Mistake" and start another family to cover the Doctor's half humaness. Perhaps this is what made him rebel why he was terrified when looking into the Time Vortex.

But that was just a theory...
