Hey guys! I have some great news for everyone who's participating in NaNo. If you've swung by the official NaNoWriMo site, then you probably already know, but for those who haven't....

CreateSpace is once again offering a FREE proof copy for those WriMos who make it to 50k or more!

This has already happened once, the other year, and I got a proof copy of my first NaNo. It looks like a real book! It's not a manuscript bound up with a spiral, or with brads. It's actually a real book - shiny, sleek cover and everything!
Of course, mine only looks like a real book from the outside. I never got around to editing the story so there are no chapters or anything...But it looks nice...!

The process for getting your free copy is very easy, and CreateSpace guides you along through it. You can even choose to have your novel sold online, if you wish! However, if you haven't signed up with the official NaNoWriMo website, you must do this so you can receive your discount code.

This code will only be given to WriMos who have gotten 50,000 or more words in their story. You must upload your word count on the website, so they can verify that you did indeed get 50k. The entire process is really very easy! You're story won't actually be displayed on the website, for you shy people, unless you go to the forums and post it there or something of the like.

SO! If you're not sure if you'll be able to make it to 50,000 words in 30 days, just think about getting an actual book of your story! You'll be able to shove it in people's faces as proof of your month of insanity! You can display it on a silver pedestal in your room to admire. Lend it to your friends and family for them to read. And if you chosen to, pull in money as people buy your book online!

Good luck to everyone, and I hope to see many people bragging about getting this special offer!

EDIT

Hey guys! Now that November is over, NaNoWriMo is giving out the code to get your free proof copy for those who have one. I see from the Word Count thread that a lot of people managed to get 50k or more! Congratulations!

To receive your code just head to this page: I Wrote a Novel, Now What?

Also, here's another forum board by Chris Baty explaining the offer again, if you still have questions or are confused about this.

I hope to see people posting pictures of their proof copy whenever they claim it!

Since it's free, I think that I just might do it; for the proof copy, at least. But having a free proof copy of it would be nice; for memory's sake and all that...

The only problem I can see is that I am a constant nitpicky editor and edit everything I wrote as I am re-reading it (a habit I have trouble suppressing during NaNo even when I'm just re-reading a few lines to get back into the story). So I'd just be looking at the proof copy going "OH. I SHOULD HAVE WROTE THAT DIFFERENTLY."

But it'd still be cooool.

Not only is this incentive to win, to reach 50,000 words, but it is also huge incentive for us to get our novel edited within the next 6 months! It says the offer is good for six months...

I want to have my novel written, edited, and IN A MANUSCRIPT!

And let peole READ it this time!

Haha that's me! Not to mention I can't read a basic book without
annotating it out of habit. [/H. English with critical analysis sucks]

I was there for the offer last year. I got the email with the code and everything, but I forgot all about it by the end of December... Oops. xD

Maybe this time I'll remember. It would be cool to have a proof copy.

Yeah, it would be awesome to get this. To quote Al Pacino in Devil's Advocate: "Vanity. Deifinitely my favorite sin."

~~From the outside looking in,
You can never understand it.~~

Because of this, by God, I am GOING to finish my novel!
I refuse to have such an incredible opportunity just slip away.

~~From the inside looking out,
You can never explain it.~~
