This section will be where I post any new announcements or changes to zOMG that will be happening for those of you who may not check the zOMG forum.
For those of you that have not seen Qix's announcements in the zOMG Forum yet, here's what you've been missing. Changes made to the game effects monster powers, ring abilities, ring sets/bonuses as well as a few other things including a new item that you can only get from the Back Alley Bargains Shop. 10/6/09 What's in the works
Teaser time!
There's an update that *just* went to QA today. It'll go Live in a couple of weeks.
While that update works through the QA system, we're also working on optimization stuff for the update after that.
But what's in the update going through QA now?
- New training sequences (only about two minutes long, the Waterworks (sewers) is an open battlefield again, staggered ring grants (like in the old days of open beta), and the HyperNet).
- New crew pane (it's way better than the one you have now)
- New targeting pane (a byproduct of the crew pane revision)
- Simplified, easier-to-understand Chat pane.
- VOIP! (Join a crew...and talk to each other! It's that simple!)
That's it. Nothing earth-shaking, but you'll see once it's here that it all makes the game easier to play and understand.
Meanwhile, we're working on optimizations...and yes...the Halloween event.

9/28/09 Revive PowerUp
Qixter
The Revive PowerUp is now available in Back Alley Bargains (the "SHOP" button).
Use Revive whenever you're Dazed to become immediately Awake with about one-third of your Health and Stamina available.
Use extra Revive charges after you Awaken to unlock ring slots that are currently locked due to the Dazed Penalty. Each charge of Revive unlocks two ring slots.

9/28/09 Hive reset
Qixter
Those of you that love to push the high scores on The Hive, here's the plan for what we're doing:
1) We're giving you a couple days after the ring swaps to play around and experiment a bit.
2) Then in a couple of days, we're going to do a rolling hotfix of the servers (no downtime) which will reset your high-scores!!!
The ring balance changes should change how far you can push on the Hive levels, so resetting your scores will let you see how far you can get under the new balance.
Just a heads-up to let you know it's coming.

10/1/09 Server fixes
Qixter
The servers were just updated with the following fixes:
- Masks use their correct attacks now (Sleep at stage 1, Root at stage 2, and Fear at stage 3)
- Rock Armor now increases armor protection slightly (in addition to having larger armor pools) at higher Rage Ranks. (The base armor protection wasn't increasing properly in the 9/29 update.)
- Teflon Spray's Deflection ability was incorrectly setup and now works to deflect damage properly.
- The Hive high scores flags have been reset so you can start from zero again with the new balance.
- The Gnome General should spawn reliably again.
- Target status animations work correctly now on Solar Rays, Hornet Nest, and Shark Attack.
- Armor rings (all of them) were not generating Rage properly. They do now.
- Robofish "Scare" attack is now single-target only, instead of an area-effect.
Enjoy!

10/1/09 Rings can no longer be sold in shops
Qixter
Hey there, zOMGaians,
Rings are no longer allowed to be sold in shops. Formerly, you could sell rings for 2 gold each. Admittedly, there's no real reason to sell a ring since the gold gained is negligible and salvaging the ring is always better, but it was an option.
Unfortunately, several users were losing rings accidentally when they were selling their recipes back.
We had users clicking madly through hundreds of recipes, selling them back to the stores at the increased sellback prices...and selling rings without realizing it.
So, since selling rings is not useful anyway, we're shutting that capability off to help prevent players from accidentally losing rings.
-- Q.
FYI...*every* case reported of rings "disappearing" yesterday was due to this problem. The rings were sold back to the stores during recipe sell backs.

10/2/09 QA and zOMG Halloween event
Qixter
Hey there, zOMGaians,
Many of you out there are suffering through some pretty nasty performance issues while playing zOMG!.
THERE IS HOPE!
We're submitting our next update to QA tomorrow and will be working bugs out on that for a couple of weeks.
But while that update is being tested, our programming team is strapping on the wargear and heading deep into the code, aiming to kill the things that ail it.
We have programmers working to speed up the rendering process, programmers working on network packet size, and programmers working on skinnying down the Java server code so the servers get more stable.
We're working on it hard this month. And we have some real good ideas on what to do.
So hang in there. The improvements won't be major until 4-5 weeks from now, but they're coming!
(Plus, yes, we're going to do a Halloween event. The Art team and Design team are working on that while the coders are tearing things apart and reassembling them leaner and meaner! biggrin

10/2/09 Recipe sell-back
Qixter
Howdy, zOMGaians!
Y'know all those hundreds of recipes in your inventory?
Those recipes that are annoying because it's not worthwhile to sell them back to the stores at 2 gold each?
Well...now's the time to sell them back to the store.
Starting now, you can sell each recipe back to the store for 50 gold!!!
So hop to it and rake in that coinage!
