This was actually a really, really big picture book. But the art was beautiful.
It wasn't quite "Steampunk", but had a lot to do with Automatons and clockwork, and the films of the early 1900's, so it did remind me a bit.

I read that! It's a wonderful book, and I actually felt really sad when Hugo thought his notebook had been burned. The author of the book also wrote a book called "The Dinosaurs of Waterhouse Hawkins," which is about the dinosaur sculptures in the Crystal Palace in London.
