I think that hunting and killing animals in general is not wrong. I would not advocate killing animals on a regular basis but I dont see anything wrong with it in general. Certain animals I think its not ok to kill, and others I don't really care. It depends on the animal. Most of the fish and bird species are up for grabs in my book and so are any herd animals. Cats, Dogs, rare species, and anything considered to be intellegent in some way should not be killed. There really is no set limitation however because it can be argued both ways, as long as the person who does the killing does not derive too much pleasure in death itself, then it should be ok. Like fishing and game hunting isn't necessarily about killing but can be about the thrill of the chase and the satisfaction of a catch. The people however that torture the animal is bad, like in a book I read where a guy shot off individual chunks of a buffalo with a shotgun until it died, after he was done he just let it bleed to death. As you can see there is a strong contrast between what is and isn't morally accepted.

So what do you think, should killing animals be allowed a lot, a little, or not at all?

Just think... that juicy big mac you ate was a poor cow that didnt know it had i commin... or that egg you eat... a defensless chick. Or Jello... them poor goats. Or pudding... them poor sheep. Or that pizza... cows again... or that bacon... pigs... or that turkey you ate last week... YOU ARE JUST AS BAD AS THE HUNTER IF YOU EAT IT.... But I guess im a killer then... birds gotta fly... I gotta eat!

I'm all for the eating of animals. In fact, I'm probably a little heartless when it comes to animal rights. So yeah, hunting animals is fine by me.

One question, though. You said:

My question is, what does it matter if the person gets a lot of pleasure from killing the animal or not? I mean, the thing will still be dead either way.

I think killing animals for food is fine, everyone has to eat, but killing for pleasure is wrong. It's like destroying things just because you're bored. There are other ways to find amusement. Endangered animals should not be hunted period.

For some reason I disagree but I can't seem to think of a good reason. sweatdrop What makes endangered animals so special anyway? But since there is no good reason to disagree I oppose poachers by default.

Once a species is gone it's gone for good! That could disrupt the balance of nature and eventually end in the destruction of the earth as we know it! scream But I could be over reaction a little. sweatdrop

What makes them so special is that there a only a few left so that makes them a bigger game. Like hunting a Bald Eagle over a Buzzard or Eagle Hawk. But what's really fun to hunt is Dolphin.

it's just the way society is set up. The weaker link in teh food chain is always hunted by the bigger predator. For snstance the owl hunts mice for food where as a coyote would hunt the owl for food.

Animals for meat is a given factor. I'm more heavily referring to the fur and leather industry, the people who sell animals, or the people who hunt the animal for the sake of hunting.

And how the rabbit is eaten by the cheetah.. then the cheetah by the lion.... circle of life. Humans just happen to be more "Intelligent" ... well some of us. But yet we are not at the top... Lions... sharks... things that people are totally retarded when it comes to things that have defenses and offenses.

No one is at the top of the food chain cause the chian revoves around. There are animals out there that are stronger than humans but yet they live peacefully.

It depends on how you kill the animal. If you're mutilating it, then, it's sick! If you're hunting for pleasure, it's ok. It's really a broad topic.
