Maybe a crystal ball that turns certain colors depending on....oh I dunno, touch sensitivity or how many times it's touched. Or maybe the crystal ball is in a room and each color corresponds to its opposite (White=black, red=blue, green=orange or something like that). And the ball opens a specific door depending on the color.

You can also have certain instruments that need to be in a certain place. Like, you find a knife that's in the living room and you put it in the kitchen...or you use it to open a door. Things like that.

You can also have a puzzle with a rat (or a cockroach haha). Maybe the rat comes out of the hole and you have to feed it food to look inside the hole for something. But that's weak. Maybe he gets his arm stuck in the hole and he has to find his way out. (:< Mwuaha.

You can have a safe with the alphabet on it then there are numbers around the dial that correspond with the letters....only you need to know the combination by a person's name...or a location. Something.

And there's always the classic something-is-behind-the-painting one. Hehe.

Maybe he shoots part of the ceiling and the floor caves in?
