Okay, so this is that story I hinted at in the introduction thread.
Years and years ago, when I was but a wee lad of around 2-3 years I was met with something that is probably the reason why I've had an attraction to the paranormal all my life.
It was late (or perhaps early in the morning, rather, when the light was faint or only moonlight was about but this is the only fact that remains fuzzy due to it being around 18 years ago) and the power had just gone out. Me, being intensely afraid of the dark, awoke the instant my nightlight went out. My mother brought me, scared to death, to the front screen door where the only light available shined through, and only dimly but enough to see my front porch. I looked after her mostly until she disappeared into the dark holding a lantern and trying to check on my grandfather and then my gaze went back to my only source of luminous solace and contentment. Soon, my eyes fell upon a strange being who seemed to be in distress and was laying on the concrete floor of the porch.
The being's whole body was pure black and it was very thin all throughout. It had two bright red eyes which appeared to have a certain glow about them and no mouth or any distinguishing features other than color and body mass. It then reached its hand out to me as though it needed my help. Being the naive child that I was, I made for the door handle in an attempt to open it up and try to help this creature or being which needed me. However, just as my hand touched the handle my mother called to me not to open the door under any circumstances. I had turned to look at her and show her my acceptance of this new rule and when I turned back to the being (maybe to apologize or continue to watch it to determine if it was an emergency I'm not sure) it was gone.
So far the only lead I've gotten is an unseelie fae. Any other suggestions?

Oh..Wow. O.O I was thinking Shadow Person for a moment but they don't have any eyes. and don't linger.
This is quite possibly a Fae, yes. This also goes into the Personals XD *moves*

WOO! haha, was going crazy there for a sec cause I thought I'd lost the post.
Hmm...shadow person still sounds very interesting...
so if it's a fae then it's possible my mom saved me from some very malicious behavior.
though I am curious...is it possible for a fae or other being to merge itself with a human? for instance, perchance this being needed some form of host to sustain itself and was looking to me for such assistance and only required my mental acceptance of helping it to do so...
I've always felt like there were two beings inside me, but I guess that could come from being human/Gemini/whatever factors are in play...
hmmm...perhaps this requires sleep, so in that direction I go!

Shadow persons are coincidental with hauntings. nothing like you're saying here. A shadow person is just a black mass that is mostly spotted in peripherals and doesn't stay for long.
I'm not sure. I don't know much about fae, but your sign being Gemini might have something to do with your feeling.
It's cool that you saw it as a kid. :] Most children are highly perceptive to those kinds of things.

Indeed, most of my experiences come from around that age. I think most of it stopped after I was about 5 or 6, but I've had much more recent experiences. One of which I'll use in my speech provided I've the time to tell the story.
Yeah, I think that's what it really is. But as children our minds tend to wander so over the years I've questioned its possibility.

That sounds interesting. I've never heard of anything like that. It reminds me of that Unsolved Mysteries episode with the creature that had the bright red glowing eyes and it could hide in grass.

This sounds very similar to something I've seen before, although I didnt get a look at the eyes... When you say "thin" do you mean it was skinny or "see through-ish"?

Like the grass monsters from Lady in the Water? xD You can only see them through a mirror peeking over your shoulder and you look for their red eyes.

The Irish-Scotsman skinny is what I originally meant. a friend of mine suggested today that it may have been a changeling? O.O; I'm not certain. I had got my hopes up thinking you saw what I saw, but mine was much larger in girth. ._.; I don't know a whole lot about changelings. Looks like I have something new to research.

Not sure. xD I just remember the episode traumatized me when I was younger. All I remember is some lady saying something about seeing a red eyed creature, and it was the size of a human but it was able to hide in her lawn. I could be remembering wrong though, I was little.
