... am I the only one who's actually watched the little film-clip thingies from NHK, where Domo-kun comes from? Where he hatches out of an egg from space, and rocks out to Guitar Wolf, and... farts?

I think it's a word. If not, it sounds enough like a word to count as far as I'm concerned.
The only trouble with the little stop-motion clips is that no one's ever bothered to do fansubs of them--so you can find them, but they'll be in Japanese. It's typically pretty easy to tell what's going on, though. =3
If anyone's interested, you can download the clips (or the ones I've seen) from here.
