Near the edge of the Empire's current reach lies the planet Tsuno, which was once a peaceful and prosperous planet hidden from the sight of others and governed by a race known as the anima. First contact was made between the Empire and the people of Tsuno only a few hundred years ago, they exchanged various information and a truce was formed. At that time, Tsuno was a peaceful planet with a single ruling government that still had technology equal to 1700s on Earth, they worked together for peace and prosperity for their planet. Due to the state of this planet it quickly became a tourist attraction, people from all around would come to Tsuno not only to visit but also to live.
Tsuno now stands as something similar to a vacation hot spot, they have kept their very unique traditions and culture through this transition, creating quite an interesting atmosphere.
--------------
The planet of Tsuno has a culture that's a mix of Japanese customs and 1600-1700 Europe themes. They have philosophers and wise ways of thinking, but their system of government consists of large individual sections ruled by a central government. The people of this planet are very loyal to their rulers and trust in them.
When walking around Tsuno it is not uncommon to see MANY shops and dealers trying to sell various things. They also have many castles and large cities, but there is much of the planet which has not been populated which is overrun by monsters.
Despite the outwards peacefulness of Tsuno, there are many people here from just about every place around the world, many come here to hide from their trouble.... In the shadows of Tuno lies a hidden and dark evil which is pulling the strings.

Jade begins his story in Lumen, one of the largest cities in Tsuno, he finds himself in a small restaurant near the center of the city.
Jade blesses his food with a proper blessing of his people before digging in. After a few bites, he decides that there isn't enough flavor and as such begins to add salt, pepper, garlic, ketchup, mustard... anything he can find... Something that would probably make any normal person want to puke.... but Jade is thoroughly enjoying it... his long ermine tail wags from side to side through the back of the chair as he chows down...
Jade is soon full and lets out a large *BURP!* in the middle of the quiet restaurant. A waiter approaches him with a bill when jade suddenly remember everything that's happened over the past few years, with his wife dying and himself almost dying... his decision to leave his home and his wealth..... that one would be a problem..... he gave the waiter a simple smile and took the bill, all the while thinking in his head "Oh no! what the heck am i going to do!?" as he played with his large ears a bit out of a nervous habit.... his transition from riches to rags had him a bit confused sometimes...
Then he came up with an idea... he decided to take a quick trip to the bathroom... once inside he focused his mind and his body began to become smaller... he and his clothes soon became a small ermine form.... and he scampered out of a window and into a crowded street.... he has to dodge left and right so he won't get stepped on... frantically, he runs in whatever direction he can without getting stepped on, but he doesn't know where he is or any idea of how to get out of this flood of people....

Cat, in his animal form, was sitting perkily in an alley in Lumen. He knew, of course, that mealtime was coming to an end, and soon a small woman would come out of the metal door in front of him. Cat would purr and circle the woman's ankles, and the woman would bend down and pet him and feed him scraps. To beg for scraps would be, on most occasions, far below Cat, but this was only the most delectable seafood restaurant in the city. The food was worth the humiliation.
Right on cue, the little woman stepped out of the door, and Cat laid on his charms. As expected, the woman, who had given Cat the name "Percy", petted and doted on him for a few moments before setting down a bowl of delicious scraps and a saucer of milk. Cat set to work devouring his meal, purring appreciatively as he allowed the woman to stroke his black fur. After a few moments, the meal was devoured and the woman gone back to her duties, and Cat was left with a full stomach and the promise of a very long and satisfying nap ahead of him.
Just as he began to wander off to find a comfy spot to lie in for a few hours, a streak of movement caught Cat's eye. It was a tiny creature, some sort of rodent that Cat had never seen. The chase was on.
Cat leaped into action, dashing behind the rodent and delighting in the chase. The poor little ermine (Jade) would stand no chance once Cat sank his teeth into his throat. Not, of course, that Cat planned on killing the thing right away. First he would play with it until it was exhausted and had ceased to be amusing. Perhaps he would deliver its carcass to the little woman from the restaurant as a thank you present...

Jade was startled by the sudden appearance of the cat, he squirmed around trying to avoid the sharp claws and teeth of his new predator. He would have just changed back into his other form if it were not for all the people nearby. He thought to himself, "This day is just getting worse and worse!" He once again wondered why he ever left the safety of his home just to be in terrible situations like this, but somewhere inside he enjoyed all of this excitement.
Jade scampered off into an alley, hoping that the cat would not follow him.

Cat was enjoying the chase far too much to abandon it. In speed, the ermine and the cat were equally matched, and Cat was too unfamiliar with this prey to be able to tell whether it or he had the upper hand in this chase. It was only when Jade turned into an alley--and alley that just so happened to end in a dead end--that Cat's excitement reached its peak. Assuming this new and strange little beast had nothing up his hypothetical sleeve, the chase was almost over.

Jade began to pant hard as he neared the end of they alley, being born a noble, he had never ran this much in his whole life...
as he neared the end of the alley, he turned to see the crazy cat still chasing him... he stood up on his back legs and took a quick glance around him to make sure there wasn't anyone around and closed his eyes... suddenly he began to change... his arms and legs lengthened making up for his overly long middle, soon his size began to increase tremendously, his clothes began to re-appear and in his hand his old staff appeared... after his transformation ended, he opened his eyes once again...
Jade knelled down to get a better look at his attacker, which now seemed completely harmless....

Cat's tail bristled at the surprise of the new development. But Cat, unlike other cats, was not a coward, and he found this more amusing than frightening.
In response to Jade's transformation, Cat, too, transformed. But, unlike Jade, Cat's transformation was instantaneous. One moment Jade was staring down at a little black cat, and the next he was face-to-face (and very nearly nose-to-nose, since Cat instantly invaded the ermine's personal space by sticking his face up close to Jade's) with a young-looking man, his sleek black hair tied in a ponytail. Cat was dressed in what appeared to be a pinstripe suit, the coat open to reveal a pure black shirt underneath. His shoes were black, polished tuxedo shoes, and a wallet chain dangled from his pocket. The half-moon charm glittered on his neck.
"Nice trick," he said, grinning.

"WOAH!?" Jade stumbled backwards and onto his butt from the sudden transformation of his attacker. He had no clue anyone else had abilities similar to his... at first he thought that this was exactly the same way he was able to transform... but he didn't even know how or why he could transform...
"You!... I?" Jade took a moment to point at both himself and this man before continuing... ".... we!? ...... WHAAAAT!?" were the mumblings that came from Jade's mouth.... he didn't even know what he was trying to say... Jade scratched his head as his tail wagged from side to side just trying to think of how something like this was possible... he had done tons of research on on those who had the ability to transform, through all of his investigations, he never found any concrete evidence that others of his race ever had this ability or how something like that was even possible...

"What's the matter?" Cat asked, still grinning with his head cocked to one side as he stared down at the stuttering Jade. "Cat got your tongue?"
The corniness of this question seemed to hit Cat, and he lifted a knuckle to his chin as he pondered it for a few seconds, his canary-yellow eyes darting upward. Then, deciding that the statement was horribly cheesy and apologies were probably due, he smiled and shook his head before plopping down on the ground in front of Jade.
"Sorry, that was horribly punny," he said.

Jade didn't really even care about the bad pun at the time.... he was still far too shocked to even care about things like that.... Jade's breathing began to slow down as thoughts raced through his head, "Who is this guy!? and what does he want??? is he going to try and hurt me? ... what is he even doing here?" he was trying to narrow down his ideas into a single question to ask.... when the man suddenly sat down right in front of him! his tail floofed back in fright.... he still wasn't sure if this man was going to attack him or what.... but Jade began to get the impression that he wouldn't try and hurt him....
he made some very strange face reactions before finally composing himself... his tail laid down next to him finally at peace.... at first he mumbled, "oh, uh...? well it's ok.... " then he shook his head from side to side and abruptly asked, "b-but you! h-how can you transform also? I've never met anyone else who could do that!"

Cat cocked his head to one side, a puzzled expression on his face. He didn't give the question more than a second's thought before he shrugged.
"I don't know," he said, matter-of-factly. The fact that he didn't know how or why he could transform didn't seem to bother him. He just could, and that was that.

"So he's just like me..." Jade mumbled under his breath.... "about our abilities at least.... "
he kind of wanted to talk to him more about this.... but it did honestly seem that this cat had no idea how he could transform.... Jade still felt threatened in this situation, so he decided to quickly change the subject and hopefully get on good terms with this cat before he decided to attack...
"so uhh.... what's your name?" he asked cautiously....

"Don't have one," Cat said simply as he scratched behind his ear. "I don't care what you call me, if you must call me something."

"You don't have a name??" Jade exclaimed, he was a bit confused about this person... but figured that he must have grown up on the streets and never had parents.... such a sad state to be in....
Jade thought for a second....
"Well everyone needs a name... even if it is temporary..." he said fairly calmly considering this person had tried to attack him earlier... "I'll call you Shadow...." he decided.... it seemed to him that they were becoming more and more like comrades...

"I disagree," said Cat, appearing momentarily distracted by a bit of trash fluttering in the wind, "not everyone needs a name. I haven't had one in all of my life, and I've known who I was just fine."
Cat's canary-yellow eyes shifted to Jade, and he looked slightly predatory once again.
"But I suppose you need a name to know who you are," he said. "So you should probably give it to me, so that I can figure out who you are too."
