Recently, I have fiercely begun working with a deity. This deity is very special to me and I would do anything to get closer to him. I have very little experience in working with deities and desperately seek ideas for increasing our closeness to one another. I was wondering if anyone could offer me some helpful advice or even exercises. This method of working exclusively through deities is different for me; no exercise, simple or insanely risky, is off limits. Even if you repeat an idea I may have tried, I will be highly appreciative.

A few ideas:
Set up a daily shrine to him, make a point of making an offering of leaving a gift everyday. Be open to whims, if you for some reason feel you should leave a certain type of stone or flower do so. Trust your intuition.
Cast a circle, invite him into it. Sit and meditate till you feel his presence or makes an appearance in one of the Other worlds you may have traveled to. Talk to him there, see how he feels about it, what his suggestions would be, how he wants to be worshiped or worked with.
Those are just some off the top of my head ideas.

Much like the case of the shrine, there are other methods to getting closer to your chosen Deity.
The one that best works in my opinion is traveling the same type of path that this deity does. Doing what you can to only feel closer to them in spirit but to make a more physical and mental connection as well.
Wearing items bearing the symbol or name of this deity seems to work as well.
But don't take my opinion too much to heart because I am not attached to any Deity of any sort.
I'm more of the kind of person who takes hold in the power of the soul and the soul alone.
