They make me happy.

I’m really fortunate that there is a park not too far from my house where the geese are so tame they will eat seed right out of your hand.
If you’re really calm about it you can even pet them. Just wash your hands after!

These next two images are from an abandoned office.
One of my favorite things in this world is exploring abandoned structures.
This hobby of mine is sometimes called UrbEx but that is kind of misleading since I like rural structures just as much.

Exploring these places isn’t always exactly legal but arrangements can be made.
There are certainly safer pastimes, but it is what it is. Wikipedia says it better than I could...
Many explorers find decay of uninhabited space to be profoundly beautiful.

It's worth the risk.

My second favorite photo subject is old cemeteries, graveyards.
So long as I visit these places during the day there I’m not breaking any rules
and it is as safe or safer than walking through a park.

I don’t think it’s morbid to spend time in cemeteries, that’s what they are there for!
I am always respectful of the deceased and try to take time to remember the forgotten.

For example, the grave marker above. The name and dates that were once engraved in it have been weathered away. It is impossible to know without extensive research of burial records who is interred here. The Egyptians believed that we have eternal life so long as someone remembers our name. Since I do not know the name of this person it is my hope that by visiting and taking time to honor their memory even though I did not know them.. that perhaps the spirit lives on.

I must say luv that I love the graveyard shots the best .. well that and your kitty. (lol) I use to do rubbings of stones way back when but somehow the time slipped away and I had none left to do it. Who knows you might have inspired me to start it up again.
