The rules are fairly simple:

--Please follow the Gaia TOS, though that should go without saying.

--Please keep the chatspeak to a minimum. I'm trying to run a literate, intelligent guild.

--No flaming. If you have an issue with someone bring it up with me and I'll handle it. Lets try to maintain a semblence of maturity.

--No spamming

--No begging

My intention with this guild is to bring together other passionate book-lovers for good, intelligent conversation. No book is off-limits. You've read a good book recently? Start a new thread, discuss it, have fun. But please keep things book-related. That's all I ask. If you have any suggestions or areas where you think things might be improved post it here. I will take your ideas into serious consideration.

How about competitions on best written short stories in areas such as humor, fantasy, nonfiction, autobiographical, or whatever? I miss the days when I used to write humorous stories about online friends, and the times when people held competitions (prizes or not) for such things.

Thats a good idea. I'm not sure how many of us are aspiring writers so I don't know how a competition would work out. Right now there are less then 10 of us. Let me consider the options on that and lets see what happens when we hit the double digits, but I like the idea. 3nodding

I'd enter a short story contest, if it can be either a fan fic or one based upon an RPG.

Duly noted ladies, and Sapphy has already made a nice donation to the pot for the as-yet-unnamed contest biggrin I'm going to bring in one of my mules and make her the treasurer for the guild. That way I can keep things separate. I'll try to do that tonight.

Should we have bi-weekly or monthly book group readings? Where everyone votes on a book to read (a book NO ONE has read), read it or most of it by a certain date, and then come on to discuss it?

Should we try posting which books have been released for reading by certain stores or companies? Like "Author Blah has just released her new book "Blahdy Blah" for $0.00 on 12/09/2005" information? It doesn't have to be posted/updated every day. Once a week is good enough, I think. Or perhaps if you post when books will come out, that'll work.

Make threads full of writing exercises? Such as taking a word a poster puts out and writing a very, very short story on it -- then leaving a word for another poster to use?

We do have them actually. I just never posted them. If I have time this week I'll try to get that done. Thank you 3nodding

Since I haven't seen anything regarding it, can I lend my support to the monthly book idea? I think it could be great fun and would perhaps even help facilitate some discussion/chat if everyone were reading the same thing.

That is a very good idea. I'll post a thread and try to get some votes to see what everyone thinks 3nodding
