Hello, As you may know, I was working on guild projects with the team for roughly the first half of the year. The team's focus was then shifted to forums and that's why you haven't seen me as active as I'd like to be in this guild. But its still important to me smile
I know guild announcements (mass PM) was a highly requested feature that the Gaia team worked very hard on making a reality. We even had it be a gold sink for the guild funds, as guilds were commenting on limited use of guild gold. We had many guild users saying they were "boycotting" guilds until guild announcements were released. Our hope was the feature would really be a boost to guild traffic and activity.
Well, the feature launched in mid-September and I haven't seen much uptake in overall guild activity. I've received a total of 3 guild announcements total for the 10 or so guilds I'm in, and wanted to get your thoughts on if its working, what could be improved, why its not being used, etc.
Do you have other ideas on how you think we can boost guild participation/activity?
thanks for your time smile

I like the Guild announcement feature. It works really well for things like announcing contests and the like. I think many users may not be all gung-ho with it because they don't want to feel like they are abusing it. That's something I did notice during the Halloween event with the SIN and BOO guilds. We would get a Guild Announcent often, and users of the Guild would make threads complaining that there were too many being sent out. Many times it was nothing more that a cheer on for the members of the guild to do their best and the like. I think it's generally saved for things that are sent out as notifications and the like.
I've used it a few times with my guild, and I love it. It's sooo much nicer than PMing every single person just to tell them all the same message. x.x
As for participation/activity....I'm stumped on that one. @.@

I enjoy the guild announcements feature, and would like to see it stay. It is MUCH easier then sending PM's out to all the members in a guild, and much less time consuming as well. the gold drain is a nice use for the guild funds, too. all in all, it's a well put together feature.
In terms of the lack of use for the feature, I just feel the need to say that I'm glad that guild captains and VC's aren't abusing this privilege, as so many thought that they might. the time restrictions on how many announcements could be sent per day, as well as content (limiting the characters in each announcement) were also great ideas in terms of controlling the announcements.
Though not many captains are using them as of yet, from what I can tell when a captain does send out a guild announcement, they do have a positive effect with activity. At least when I've sent or received them, I would see members check in, or check in myself. as most of the guilds I'm in are relatively small and inactive, though, it's hard to say either way whether or not the announcements feature has had a positive effect on activity overall.

....Funny how these things always go... Yes...it's more effective than just putting an announcement in the forums. Though I wish it wasn't quite so expensive sweatdrop . It did increase activity slightly in my guild, and plus we got a bunch of donations^^.
...where and why, exactly, no one really knows...

I also really like the feature. In the larger of the guilds I'm co-captaining, We're starting to use it as a monthly newsletter. I believe that people are needing a bit of time to figure out just what to use it for, but it's fabulous to be able to send out event info in a consistant and efficient manner.
