This is the guild topic for discussing the results from the 2009 CMA awards. Remember to keep it civil, as always.

I felt that some people received awards that they shouldn't have. I didn't watch the award show itself, but I was incredibly disappointed in who they gave Vocal Group, Entertainer, and Female Vocalist to.
Vocal Group: I think Rascal Flatts was cheated. I suppose I'm biased because I'm a huge Rascal Flatts fan, but they were the only nominee who even had their own tour. Yes, Lady A had a great year, but I don't think they've been around long enough to win that award.
Same with Entertainer. Taylor Swift puts on a great show (I know because I've seen her live) and she definitely entertains well. However, as much of a huge Taylor Swift fan I am, I really don't think she should have won that award as it's much too soon.
As for Female Vocalist... the award title assumes that the winner can sing. That she has vocal talent. None of which Taylor Swift has. She can't stay on tune and she's not a talented vocalist, unlike the other nominees in that category are. I can somewhat see why Entertainer was given to her, but I can't believe she was even considered for Female Vocalist.
This article from the CMT Blog really sums up my feelings nicely.
