To the one that I serve Ritual, worship, and more Are all the rituals you perform related to worship, or are some working rituals? Is prayer a part of your worship? How do you define worship? Do you give offerings/sacrifices for the Gods you worship in rituals? Can Prayers be written in any format, do do they need to follow a specific format? Does ancestral veneration play a part in your worship? Can you worship your Gods any time, or do you only worship them on the sabbats? Is meditation a part of your worship? Why or why not? Do you worship your deities with out ritual? I will give my all

Are all the rituals you perform related to worship, or are some working rituals? All are worship, unless it's a spell, which technically can follow pretty much "ritual-like" format sometimes - I rarely perform spells like that, though.
Is prayer a part of your worship? Yes. I don't perform too complicated rituals, since I'm not a part of clergy and I have no skills required to perform a full-blown ritual or celebrations. My rituals are almost always just a simple prayer and an offering, rarely anything more than that. So prayer is indeed an important part of it.
How do you define worship? Rites, rituals or pretty much anything that's done with the acknowledged purpose of honoring or worshipping something, normally a god or a spirit in my case.
Do you give offerings/sacrifices for the Gods you worship in rituals? Yes. As I mentioned earlier, a prayer and an offering are the only things what my rituals normally include at the very basis.
Can Prayers be written in any format, or do they need to follow a specific format? I think they can be anything you find appropriate, unless the path in question has different standards. For me, it's nearly anything, as long as I address the gods in proper ways. That's something I'd like to keep as it is, though I often also follow the spell format, too, when wording my prayers (meaning sort of poetry-like form).
Does ancestral veneration play a part in your worship? Well, this part is where I should be ashamed, I guess. Honoring the ancestors should be an important part of many celebrations and every-day life, but I rarely do that. sweatdrop
My excuse for that is, that I don't know much about my ancestors, except from my father's side, and people from his side have been christians as far as I know. I feel it would be inappropriate and disrespecting to include them in my practice, since they didn't hold the same beliefs... On the other hand, the idea of including people I know nothing of in my rituals - such as the ancestors from mother's side - feels similarly inappropriate, no matter what my religion has to say...
Can you worship your Gods any time, or do you only worship them on the sabbats? Any time.
Is meditation a part of your worship? Why or why not? Nope, can't say anything sure on the "why", but I'd guess it's because that sort of things weren't popular when old Finnish paganism was widely in practice. Don't know for sure, though. It's just not.
Do you worship your deities with out ritual? Not so much worship, but I do pay respect to them in situations that require it. For example, if I'm going to a forest, I do remember it's Tapio's land I'm entering, and if I'm out fishing, I do say a small prayer to Ahti to respect his waters and to ask for a good catch. I pay attention to spirits and gods when appropriate, but I don't actively worship them outside of rituals.

To the one that I serve Pagany weekly September 14th 2009 Are all the rituals you perform related to worship, or are some working rituals? All my rituals are worship, though some of the worship rituals include working. Most of my esbats are working rituals, but there is worship there as well. Pagany weekly September 14th 2009 Is prayer a part of your worship? Yes. I tend to try and write my own prayers but I will also use a prayer written by some one else if I feel it will work for my ritual. I actually have 4 prayers I say a day that I wrote. Pagany weekly September 14th 2009 How do you define worship? Worship for me is praise and respect for deities. Honoring them and their connection to our lives. Being with them as much as possible in the ritual. Pagany weekly September 14th 2009 Do you give offerings/sacrifices for the Gods you worship in rituals? Yes. I give offering and communion in my rituals. Pagany weekly September 14th 2009 Can Prayers be written in any format, do do they need to follow a specific format? The prayers I write usually involve some sort of invocation and praise then a petition and then a blessing in their names. Pagany weekly September 14th 2009 Does ancestral veneration play a part in your worship? Very much so. I'm going to be using an evocation for the ancestors as part of all my rituals. I pray to them twice a day with prayers I wrote for them. Pagany weekly September 14th 2009 Can you worship your Gods any time, or do you only worship them on the sabbats? I can worship them anytime though the sabbats are the most important times as they are sacred days. Pagany weekly September 14th 2009 Is meditation a part of your worship? Why or why not? Yes. Meditation is part of my rituals. It's focusing on the deities and my relationship to them. Pagany weekly September 14th 2009 Do you worship your deities with out ritual? Yes. I can worship them with out ritual, but I prefer to do it with in ritual as rituals to me help align all three of my minds to the task at hand. I will give my all

It's not required for me but it is something I have added because it feels right. I also honor the spirit of my house ever day through prayer in the morning and evening. Loona Wynd So all rituals are worship. Cool. Do you write your own rituals, or do you use a format provided by other people? A bit of both. Normally I write my own according to what guidelines I can find from the myths, but quite often other people can give useful advice, too, if not a whole format idea for something. Quote: Do you write your own prayers or use prayers written by other people? Again it's a bit of both. I often write my own, but there are also some traditional prayers many people use, including me, and sometimes I may use parts of what other have written, if it's fine with them. Quote: Are the rituals for Gods different than the rituals for spirits? Not really, though it does depend a bit on who the god or spirit in question is. Some are treated with more respect than others, the sacrifices offered may differ, as do how I word things, but the base of the ritual format is normally the same. Quote: Are offerings done in a specific format? Nope. Often it's just that I place the offering to appropriate place depending on who's going to get it and present my wish of the god/spirit/whatever accepting the offering, perhaps adding a prayer or something else if I feel it's needed. Of course all is done with proper respect. Quote: Is it possible for you to share a prayer? Here? Well, I guess there's nothing preventing it, so why not. Here's one traditional morning prayer for the Sun, and my translation of it (though I shortened this a bit, I guess Finns used to think that if it's not long, it's not worth it...) Terve kasvos näyttämästä Welcome, Sun, as you show your facePäivä kulta koittamasta Welcome as it's now your timePääsit ylös aaltoin alta You rise up from under the wavesYli männistön ylenit You climb above the forest of pinesNousit kullaisna käkenä You fly upward like a golden birdTasaiselle taivahalle To the sky so vast and clearElollesi entiselle To the path that you always followNouse aina aikoinasi Rise always when it comes your timePerästä tämänkin päivän Even after this day has endedTuo meille tuliaista Bring down all your gifts for usTuo täyttä terveyttä Bring us the health and joyOnni onkemme nenähän The luck and happiness we seek forKäy kaaresi kaunihisti Now, walk your path in beautyPäätä päivän matkuesi When the day ends, end your journeyPääse illalla ilohon Lay down to rest as evening comesQuote: How often would you say you worship your deities? Once a week for gods normally, by giving offerings and honoring them otherwise, though I don't perform any large rituals. For spirits, not so often and only when needed, except for the spirit of my house and the spirit of myself. Those get the same treatment the gods get. Normally I do, if I can, also pray (or at least silently show some respect) before my altar (well, sacrifice tree) every evening to honor the gods and spirits without actual rituals or offerings. Quote: I see. Are there other ways you feel and notice your connection to the Gods? Not sure if I understand the question as you mean it... I'd say I notice the connection in everyday things, like how I think and act. I wouldn't be who I am now without my beliefs and relationship to gods. Quote: Fair enough. Is there anything in your day to day life that you do in honor of your Gods or the various spirits? Small prayers, respecting the spirits of places I'm going to, how I act in some places or situations, that sort of things.
