Yea... she is very powerful; Although in the episode with the southern raiders, Katara let her anger get to the point where she wanted to kill him... I think if it wasn't for Aang telling her to "Let your anger out, and then let it go she would have done off with him.

You know I think Katara is one of the most powerful water benders because of the fact that she can bend blood as well. She'll never use that bending ever again for the rest of her life but fact that she knows how to do it makes her very powerful and very dangerous if she were to use it against her enemy's.

She'll never use that bending ever again for the rest of her life but fact that she knows how to do it makes her very powerful and very dangerous if she were to use it against her enemy's. The ability to bloodbend is irrelevant. Hamma could bloodbend and Katara was still a more powerful waterbender than she was. Peirce, I disagree with you there. Your statement is underestimating the underlying strength of the character. Throughout the entire series we've watched her as a nexus of strength for the other characters, with absolutely zero moral ambiguity. And clearly Aang didn't have an effect on her in the episode in question. I'm willing to bet that had the decision been left up to her and her alone she would have made the same decision.

Katara is mentioned as "the glue that sticks the group together" in a profile I read of her. This is shown when they lost Appa and were walking almost aimlessly in the desert. Aang was depressed at Appa's loss, Sokka was hallucinating from cactus juice and Toph couldn't see well in sand. Katara kept their hopes up and played a bit of "mummy" character for them.

btoney16 There is a question i have about Katara. How did she get her waterbending if both her mother and father couldnt waterbend? I know, right? One of my buddies keeps saying that 2 waterbenders have to be parents to a waterbender. But then Katara's mom and dad can't waterbend. But Gran Gran was from the Northern Water Tribe, where practically everyone waterbends. Maybe that's where she got the gene from.

It never said who her grandfather was, so maybe he was one of the waterbenders who got captered by the Southern Raiders.
