Did anyone enjoy reading these despite what they were about? Or were you put off by them?

I personally think people were going a bit too nuts over this series. Especially those attempting to get it banned. I actually liked the series. I'm not a religious person so that maybe the reason it didn't bother me or the fact I didn't take any of it to heart. But I did enjoy it for the scenes laid out and the characters. I'd have to say the 2nd book was actually my favorite and i think that's were it really takes off.

I loved them to death the first time I read them, but the second time around the last one felt a little dry to me. I donno...

I've never read them. I'm just curious what set off some of the religious this time.
