I'm sure there are over a good handful that we've read that we really wish we hadn't. Maybe there are books you've bought that were suggested to you by a friend or a particular series that was getting good hype that you couldn't resist. Or maybe a book about a particular subject you like reading about.

Either way here's your chance to complain greatly about them and list 'em off.

-------

For me, i think one of the top most in subject matter i enjoy reading about would be Tantalize by Cynthia Leitich Smith. There's a book that made me wonder what the publisher was smokin' when they let it loose into the wide world.

There are a few others that I can't remember that have made me cringe and not even finish them. Some I've attempted to sell to Half-Price-Books even. XD

The books I regret are:
Sandman Slim
The Fiend
Hobbit, only because of the age I read it.

There are a few more but I can't remember the names.

The DaVinci Code
The Dead Zone

Those are the only two that come to mind at the moment. Both had very little in the way of an ending.

The Harry Potter series. I started when I was only 10 or so, and I loved them. Then, JK Rowling had to go and take a huge s**t all over the series with the seventh book, which was really awful and ruined everything that came before in my eyes.

On the other hand, I don't regret having read Twilight (only the first), so I can legitimately tell people it is a sack of crap.

Most of the post-twilight vampire books popping up left and right make me cringe. Evermore was absolutely the worst.

Another book I wish had never raped my eyes was From The Corner of His Eye by Dean Koontz. I used to like him too. Now I'm boycotting him.

I honestly can't recall the name of a book that I read several years ago that made me want to leap off a cliff into a valley of AIDS filled needles. It was... terrible.

Also, The Silver Kiss or something like that.

In all honesty, I've STARTED my share of terrible books; but I've learned that life is too short to continue reading a book that I can already tell I loathe.

I started reading Terry Goodkind, and didn't even make it past the first book. "Wizard's First Rule" was horrible. When you get around 200 or 300 pages into it, there is some serious creepy witchcraft involving the sacrifice of a little boy. Not to mention the child-loving sicko in it that wants him to himself. gonk Ugh, my brain was violated for a few days after that. I trashed that thing. I also wish I hadn't read "Walking Across Egypt". It was hilarious until the ending, which involved an old lady (80ish) wanting to marry a 16-year-old guy that just got out of jail. xp

Well, earlier this fall I read Vampire Kisses. UGH! It was NOT for me!

Great Gigi! The Hobbit was great! I read it 4 times!

Why is it no one likes it when I say I did not like reading the Hobbit? It is a very traumatizing book for a dyslexic who has yet to master the nuances of the alphabet.
