19 -- -- -- -- -- -- *-- Morning Musume's unofficial rivals are way ahead of them now. Back in the day when morning musume beat akb48 was not big news but i find it strange that akb48 can beat a JE's single now!! They've surpassed BoA and AAA that week and still on the charts right now... (well the top 50 at least xD) This single and Namida! Surprise have made the top 20 yearly sales :l that's kinda' amazing considering this is another one of those idol wota groups D: wasnt it just last year they strruggled to make it into any tv program to promote a single because of bad sales? (or at least two years ago?) i think i might even be in to akb48 now. so far i know ayaka kikuchi and tomomi itano and theres still another 70 i wanna learn. i've been checking out akb's H!O stage48! it was jsut last yyear i hated akb48 Dx at least their sub-groups arent getting anywhere xD ske48 only gets 15k... i think o_o still think H!P is number one though. anyone else starting to feel akb48?

Well I've been a fan of them since Baby!Baby!Baby (which is the reason I went swimsuit shopping so much that summer) and I really am not suprised.
I do find their dancing to be more so on point and that they flow better as a group, dancing wise. However I have several friends who have seen them live and said that they do not have the strongest of voices and while the performances are great, the voices are almost never live.

River is a pretty good song... it's actually the only AKB48 CD I own (I had preordered it along with Kimagure Princess after seeing the PV on YouTube). It's got mainstream appeal, which is more than you can say about a lot of stuff coming out of H!P these days. To put it into perspective, River's total sales up to this point have exceeded every Morning Musume single going back as far as 2003's Morning Musume no Hyokkori Hyoutanjima.
I'm not a big fan of the group, but I do think they're pretty good. Talent-wise, they've probably got as much dead-weight as H!P, but the singles feature all their A-list girls, which is probably a better strategy than doing separate singles for each Team. Someone will have to explain to me the popularity of Takahashi Minami, though. I don't know why she's as popular as she is, but everytime I see a picture of her, she seems like she's smirking at me, like I'm beneath her contempt, which is something of a turn off. sweatdrop
At any rate, if Morning Musume ever wants to catch up to AKB48, they're going to need to get some new girls that can sing AND have star appeal, and they need to start cranking out better songs. I hear people whining about 'lack of promotion' a lot these days, but no amount of promotion is going to convince a mainstream audience to buy something like 'Kimagure Princess'. Heck, if Morning Musume hadn't put that song out, I certainly wouldn't have bought it either.

i've liked AKB48 since early this year!~
i find them quite different to MM though
for some reason... although i have favourite members (miyazawa sae, i only recently managed to find out her name because of her photobook release!!~) i don't feel as compelled to learn all of their names... like i do with H!P...
their dances... i find them hard to learn- like, sometimes, they don't go completely to the beat of the song and i find it really hard to find ways of remembering their dances
also.... they don't always release dance shots do they?? i don't remember seeing one OAO;;
BUT i really like their music~ their pvs!~~ alot of things about them
maybe it's because i'm so into morning musume that i find it hard to love another idol group as much??... or because i'm aware they're compeditors within their genre... but i still really like akb48~~
and river! OAO ohhh i like that single quite alot!
although it isn't my favourite-- i can see why it's doing well!
like with c-ute's last single- that wasn't my favourite, yet it reached number one because it was quite catchy etc >w<

The ULtiMATe Rainbow BUT i really like their music~ their pvs!~~ alot of things about them maybe it's because i'm so into morning musume that i find it hard to love another idol group as much??... or because i'm aware they're compeditors within their genre... but i still really like akb48~~ lol same. im so into H!P i don't want to bring AKB48 into the picture and i think theyve release dance shots, not sure about single V's. i found an oogoe diamond dance shot before, and also a namida surprise dance shot. well kinda, the namida surprise had them walking while doing it. ( the school hallway scene was the dance shot) @hairy - Yeah, i dont see the big deal in takahashi minami. she is the leader, and unlike H!P, they actually advertise the leaders for being leaders, but shes nothing new. i only buy H!P singles xD but kimagure princess wasnt bad in my opinion. i actually think its one of their best works. of course thats coming from someone who likes odd H!P songs like guru guru jump, lemon iro to milk tea, hyokyori hyoutanjima, and sexy boy as his favorites xD

I'm still shocked that River has been selling so well. I find the song complete crap. D= But I seem to be the only person who can't bear to listen to it, so...
But AKB48 has been dominating the charts for a while. We have to admit, Morning Musume's glory days are over. Time to step aside and let another set of titans take over. I feel like if Tsunku pushes it too hard and tries to beat AKB48, it'll blow up in his face.
My opinion on the two and their "rivalry". =3
I'm kinda over it, considering I already got it out of my system. xD

^ same. river isnt that great. i wouldnt say its crap, but seifuku jama o suru was like this + suggestive, so it shouldve sold more. but oh well. i like the b-side though. kiminokoto ga sukidakara. now that was a master piece. so was aitakata.
i dont care to much about the rivalry, but momusu/H!P is what i like more, because not only do they have great music, you know the girls more and akb48 has more gravure idol in them than H!P. not that gravure is a bad thing, but theyre marketing, once again, young girls in bikini's, but they make it more about a**ets than style razz even if ai gets a lot of butt shots.
btw kokoro, im envious of you and your zyx photos and jun2 stuff D:< aka everything you bought.

 I actually really like RIVER. I knew about AKB48 for the longest time but never listened to any of their music because I was too loyal to Morning Musume. After awhile, I decided it couldn't hurt. I became addicted to AKB48 like I had been with Morning Musume. Finally I've gotten to where I like both groups equally and I really don't compare the two.

僕たちは未来まで たすきを渡す使命 RIVER was the first time I've ever heard AKB48 and I am becoming a very slow fan of theirs. I like RIVER but I'm still shaky about any other of their songs while when I first started listening to Morning Musume every song I listened too I loved (except As For One Day).
It looks like AKB48 has a higher budget as far as PV quality goes but I haven't seen any of their live stuff so I cant really say anything beyond that >: ...yeah 陸のない 星にはならないように

Since I didn't start listening to them right away, I decided to listen to the songs in the order they were released. It's nice having two idol groups to enjoy. So while I wait for people to upload PV's or appearances on music shows for Morning Musume, there would most likely be someone uploading something for AKB48. Does anyone have a favorite AKB member? I'd have to say mine is Watanabe Mayu. She stood out the most while I was watching PV's, it's something about the way she opens her mouth when she sings. It looks kind of weird but it makes it easy to spot her. xD She's adorable though.

^_^ I've actually been a fan of AKB48 before I started getting into Hello! Project,
to tell the truth.
But reading this news,
I'm pretty surprised at how much AKB48 is selling!!
I never knew they were so popular,
I mean, I thought they were more of a performing live on stage type of group.
(When I went to Japan last summer, they were having a show in Akihabara)
They do have some pretty nice songs,
but I'm sure Morning Musume isn't going to lose!!
