I'm glad to say PS0 is here! I've obtained a copy and have started. Anyone else getting anywhere in it?

I'm a bit disappointed in the character selection. I understand that they can't have as much customizability as with PSO, but I felt there would be more. And why are the human rangers turned into Cowboys? That was weird. I don't feel like the western concept fits in very well.

So far I'm really enjoying the gameplay. It really reminds me of good old PSO. I miss the quick menu for items/spells/equipment but I figure they couldn't program that in. There should be an option to use spells without assigning them to the action palate, but maybe I'm just not doing something obvious. Edit: I found it. R+Start opens up the Equipment menu, L+Start opens up the general item menu.

On the sad side, my left hand keeps cramping because the DS is too small and I play it for too long.

based on what ive seen, the 'cowboy' thing is the time period. i'm thinking PSZ is a PREquel to PSO.

The connection between PSO and PS0 becomes more apparent after you beat the storyline (and I think a few of the extra quests will clear up the time line, I'm not quite done with them yet so it is still somewhat hazy).

As far as I can tell Zero takes place after Online.

Grayfox: The gameplay is pretty good. It isn't PSO, but for a fan of PSO and for a handheld system it is good. You get a pretty good deal from it. Sadly you can only have 3 characters per game card which stinks since there are lots of classes. The storyline didn't impress me much, but it isn't bad.

Speaking as a college student, it is pretty good time waster if you've got some spare time between classes and want to do something though the latter mission can take some time if you go through every room like I tend to.

Also I was annoyed by the NPCs in this game. Sure you've got a full team by the end which was a nice change from PSO but at the same time, they're pretty incompetent. I was uber pissed when I got stuck in one of those box traps on the ground and none of the NPCs bothered to free me from it. And they're absolutely screwed in any boss fights. I don't even bother reviving them once they die since they stop fighting once you die anyhow. And they steal my kills in normal rooms. I guess it isn't that much, only 10-25 more experience, but I'd almost rather not have the meat shields.

Also, the new slicers are pretty cool. I found one the other day and used it on a whim. They're like giant boomerangs that you throw across the room. Pretty nifty and useful in certain areas.

actually darkmag, PSZ is set before PSO. (If the number didnt tell you. 0, 1&2, 3?)

but the NPCs do help you get the hitter titles. they arent all bad.

The storyline seems disjointed since they set it up to be mysterious but you are correct in saying it takes place before PSO.

(Spoiler Warning)

The quest where you find out you (or your ancestor) saved the world in the past made me think it was an image of you beating Dark Falz from PSO. But the revelation that Coral is Earth means that you are indeed back on the original planet as I understand the series to work.

But that makes the series seem rather grim since they left Coral in PSO to find a new world due to the "imminent destruction" of their home planet and ended up on Ragol, where Dark Falz was imprisoned. The ending of Zero makes it seem like they were working toward a better future. I haven't finished the final quest since I haven't had time to sit down and complete it so maybe I'm still missing a little information. The release of Dark Falz also makes it seem more likely that this took place after PSO and that they somehow managed to come back to the Coral after the events on Ragol or that perhaps these events were going on simultaneously.

Yeah, the game is still pretty new. I'm sure nonfans of the PS series will catch on to it soon. I don't think anyone has give the game bad reviews so I expect more people will try it out when they can get some spending money.
