My special dish I make for Thanksgiving every year was one that I learned in Home Economics class a while back. It's called a Fruit Embrosia (Fruit Salad for short wink )
You need to prepare it: very light whipped cream, lemon pudding mix, coconut shreds, fruit juice, lotsa canned fruit, fresh grapes, fresh pineapples, and cookie crumbs (if desired), a rectangle glass bowl.
Instructions: 1. You pour the fruit in the bowl and spread it out with a wooden spoon.
2. Pour in a cup of your fruit juice (no more no less for a tropical taste).
3. Sprinkle in all of the lemon pudding mix, and STIR STIR STIR with your wooden spoon!! (to dissolve it within the mixture)
4. Smoothe the mixture in the pan/bowl thing. Then, distribute the cool whip or whipped cream across the top and sprinkle lots of coconut shreds in there. MIX AGAIN!!
5. Now, sprinkle the cookie crumbs (if you want) on the top, and put a plastic wrap over the pan/bowl. Stick it in the refridgerator (NOT FREEZER) and pull out for use!! People love it! wink

My grandfather also makes this yummy sweet potato dish with marshmallows melted on top ^-^ It's making my mouth water!
