The dark-coated mare yawned a bit as she stood and stretched everything, which included all four legs and both wings. She ignored the occasional crack here and there from a stiff joint or whatever it was that made the noise - she didn't know - and gave herself a thorough shake. It was definitely growing colder by the day, and she'd even noticed snow in some areas of Urin - from a distance, of course, like the mountains of Casa Tiner. Soon it would sweep over the rest of the lands, blanketing everything in a blanket of sparkling white. She loved winter for how beautiful it was, but she most certainly did not like the cold that came with it.
And so she'd figured one more trip to Yisi, before the numerous ponds and pools of water froze over with a thick sheet of ice, would be a wonderful idea. Violet eyes studied their surroundings, noting that bits of frost were already attached to the tops of the trees, and the grass near any pool of water had a distinctive crunching sound when stepped on. That made it a tad harder to find acceptable grass to eat, because the crunching made those particular areas seem very unappetizing.
Venus turned to face the setting sun, its slow descent nearly finished, and offered a smile to the bi-horned Aeri near her. "The sunset looks so pretty, doesn't it? But the air is getting fairly chilly now," she added with a frown. Perhaps it'd be better if they were awake during the day, when the sun cold warm them more? Oh, but maybe being awake at night was better, so they could move and warm themselves that way instead of laying still until morning. Bah, she'd have to ask Taur about it later and find out what he thought of it, or which he preferred.

Taur raised his head to watch the fiery orb sink beneath the horizon for a few moments before turning to Venus with a smile. "Yes, it's really lovely today... It is getting colder now though." Winter. It was a hard time of year if you preferred to avoid D'ob, the eternally mild and pleasant valley. The worst of it was that in winter the place became even more crowded... Still, maybe they could just stay close to it, not actually in it.
Giving a yawn of his own, the skinny stallion rose to his feet and stretched himself. For now, he decided, he wouldn't worry too much about tomorrow. At some point he'd find out what Venus wanted to do, and then they would do it. Even if she suggested going to Qurine for the winter he'd probably stick with her. He wouldn't mind enduring raging storms if it meant he could be with this kind and beautiful mare. He hoped she never got bored of him.
"What shall we do tonight?" he asked after a moment, casting around to take in their surroundings more fully. The chill of night would really start to set in soon, they should probably try to find some decent grazing quickly.

She stretched out all four legs again and folded her wings more comfortably against her sides, and offered the sandy-colored stallion a smile. "Well, we could look for a good grazing spot; we'll need to find one at some point anyway, so it might as well be sooner rather than later so we're not hurrying to find one. And I don't really want to settle for the crunchy grass, either.." The black mare said with a half-disgusted look on her face as she stepped on a particularly hard patch of grass, listening to it crunch beneath her large hooves. No, no matter how many times she told herself it was still grass, she still didn't find it anymore appealing.
"We could explore while we look for a good spot, too," Venus offered with a grin. She loved to explore, but it was so much more fun when she could explore with Taur. Maybe they would find somewhere better to spend the winter while they were exploring? Somewhere that wasn't too cold, but didn't have many nequus. She didn't like crowds anymore than Taur did, so she was keen to avoid them too. Oh! "Maybe we should head towards Ryuten next Taur," she said with a smile and a flick of her white tail. "The humans are nice, maybe we could spend some of the winter there." She'd seen them put strange things called blankets onto other nequus, and she'd seen them put them on themselves too, so did that mean blankets kept them warm? Maybe, she wasn't sure, but it'd be a lot of fun to find out! Plus, humans didn't believe black nequus were bad, right? She didn't think so. Plus, they'd probably find Taur's horns interesting, too! The violet-eyed mare certainly hoped so.

"Oh!" Taur grinned and nodded enthusiastically. "Grazing sounds good! So does visiting the two-legs... I've not seen them since my horns grew. I hope they don't mind." He didn't want to get chased off by them too, he was so tired of people chasing him away... but Venus hadn't. Venus was kind and lovely and he'd follow her wherever she wanted to go, even to places where people might hate him.
"North then?" he went on tentatively, shy of actually making a suggestion. "They do live to the north, right? And a bit to the west?" He thought that was right but he wasn't sure, maybe Venus would know better?... Still, they’d find their way to the two-legs and spend a nice winter being mostly looked after. They wouldn’t mind his horns, or the fact that Venus was black, everything would be just fine. He hoped. It was easier to hope for things since he’d met Venus, easier even to think some of those hopes might come to be.

Not too far away, a red and gold mare stalked. She had left the lands of the Chosen - the Hellene territories as ignorant folk called them - because there were things to do. Evil was all around outside their lands, always looking for a way in. She would not let it succeed. She would stop Them, beat them back where others could not. That was her duty, the burden that came with her power. It was one she bore willingly, even though it meant she didn’t have free time like other members of the herd. That was the trouble with being special, the world demanded so much of you sometimes. Sighing internally, Salome lashed her bladed tails and stalked onward.

Venus chuckled, leaning over to nudge the sandy stallion's shoulder gently with her muzzle. "I'm sure they won't mind, they'll probably be fascinated by them. You have to admit, they are very handsome," she said with a smile and another nudge to his withers. He was handsome too, of course, but she decided to keep that thought to herself for the time being. "And yes, north, and I think a bit west too. So... this way?" She said hesitantly, turning a bit towards the direction she thought it was in. "At least, I think it's this way.." Oh dear. Perhaps they should just start walking, and hopefully they'd find it? Or maybe they'd come across someone who knew where it was? Hopefully; it'd be dreadful if they were going the wrong way and wound up somewhere else, like Fyhi or even Casa Tiner, although Fyhi was more likely.
"Hmm... I think it is this way, but hopefully we'll see something so we know if this is the right way or not, or maybe come across someone we can ask," she suggested as she began walking in the direction she'd first pointed in. Hopefully, the someone they might stumble upon wouldn't be afraid or angry because of Taur's horns, or because of her black coat. Surely they wouldn't, surely people had gotten more sense now? She certainly hoped so, as she continued walking, unknowingly heading towards a certain red and gold crossbreed that she couldn't see quite yet.

She really did like them. He always forgot that. He couldn't understand why, but why didn't really matter to him in the end. All that mattered was that somebody thought the horns added to his looks rather than detracting from them, and even though he couldn't share her opinion it felt good to know she felt that way.
"Umm, right," Taur nodded, "that sounds like a good idea... I'm sure not everyone will just run away from us or try to attack us." The world really wasn't as bad as he had always believed, it couldn't be if good people like Venus lived in it. Everything would be fine.
What was that? Over there? Salome froze in place and snapped her head around to stare at the source of the movement that had caught her attention. Around her the trees whispered, whispered monster. A black mare with a horned Aeri stallion. Aeri should not have horns, and black coats were bad, signs of the taint of evil. She had known it, she had known badness stalked her today. That thing that was trying to look like an Aeri stallion was probably one of Them, unused to taking Nequus form as yet, unable to hide its evil. Maybe it would still be weak at this stage, that would be good, easy fights were the best kind, she couldn't afford to be hurt... As for the mare, well she had to either be one of Them too, or just an accomplice. Either way, she had to go too.
Snorting loudly, she sprang forwards through the undergrowth before skidding to a halt again before the monstrous pair. "Evil ones!" she snarled, rearing up and lashing out at thin air with her hooves. "You shall not enter the lands of the Chosen, you shall not even live to see another day! I am here to destroy you so you taint the world no more!"

Venus started, jumping backwards and to the side, not expecting anything to be jumping out of anywhere, and especially not a nequus, going on about... What? Just.... what? Evil ones? Chosen? ...what? What was this mare on, and what the drek was she talking about? Oh. Oh dear, she must not like black coated nequus, or Taur's horns. Oh dear. And not just dislike, either... Oh drek. "Evil? What the drek are you going on about?" Maybe she could stop her by convincing her that her logic was just stupid? It could work. Maybe.
She turned her head towards Taur, speaking quickly and quietly, so the strange crossbreed wouldn't hear. "Do you know what this scary thing's going on about?" And indeed, was that mare ever scary. Her horn looked like that of a Reya, but had many more spikes on it than it should've, and her tails.. Oh gods, her tails looked incredibly sharp, much more awful and painful looking than a normal Reya's. Oh gods, this wouldn't end well.
Umm, umm... What to do? What to do, what to do, and they better figure that out quick, before the scary crossbreed decided to try and tear them to ribbons with her spiked horn and sharp tails. Oh dear.

Taur froze on the spot when the red mare bust out at them, and as she spoke he felt himself begin to tremble. Evil? They weren't evil, they couldn't help how they looked!... She wasn't exactly normal looking. Her horn was spiked all the way down and her tails ended in sharp looking bony bits. He could only shake his head to Venus' question, fear had taken him by the throat and silenced him. They weren't evil. What were they going to do?
"Evil!" Salome snarled and stamped a hoof. "You can't fool me by playing innocent, black coat! My herd knows your sort for what you are, they told me all about it when I joined! I won't be foolish enough to let my guard down around you like I would have before, and you!" She rounded on Taur, snapping her bladed tails menacingly. "You are in league with her, and with Them! Don't think I don't know, you can't hide your true nature yet can you, can you? We can all see those horns on your head, beast!"
Yes. Evil. Destroy them. You are the only one who can save the world from their wrongness.
Yes, that was true!... But... But she had a strange horn, and tails, and Ignatius was strange, and they were both good. The best and the worst looked strange then, but that Aeri was one of the bad because he was with a black coat. It all made perfect sense.

....ooooh! If there was one thing that Venus hated, that was it - ignorance and prejudice against black-coated nequus. Why was she to be shunned and despised because of her coat color? It was wrong, and stupid, and every other word for those. Oooh, how she hated it!
The ebony mare stomped her hoof louder than Salome did, mostly because her hooves must've been almost twice as big, and her ears snapped back against her head. "An entire herd? Really? The ignorance of some people amazes me! I don't know where you get off yelling at me for being evil when I haven't done one thing to anyone! Just because some rumor starts going around because of two vile black-coated Nequus, everyone else gets the daft idea that all black Nequus are just as evil! Ignorance!" She ended with a shout, stomping her hoof again. Part of her life had been ruined by daft idiots like this mare, and she didn't want to have anymore to do with it.
"And don't you dare call him that! You look more evil than he ever could, even if he wanted to! No Nequus I've ever seen or heard of has had such a horn as that, or such sharp tails - so if you're going to call him a beast, you should call yourself one, too!" Venus snorted, glaring at the red and gold crossbreed. She realized a little too late that she probably shouldn't be going off on a scary looking Nequus who looked like she was ready to attack, but too little, too late. Oh well.
