My old dormmate recently told me that FF3 was awful. xd Wow to see it in the top 10. Maybe I should at least see about it... Then again, was FFIV originally called II or III? If it's actually IV, I can see why it's up there.

FFVI was released on the SNES as FFIII over here because we hadn't gotten the Japanese II or III at the time (FFIV became II in America). So they're actually referring to VI, which is an amazing game and worthy of a high listing. I'm not sure if I'd place it that high, however. I really like Chrono Trigger in particular, and have replayed it so many times, whereas I never finished a second play of VI. As great as the story and characters and sprites are, it's not as fun or satisfying to me as a lot of other games are.

Also. Pilotwings: Better than Vagrant Story.

The main argument I saw from the forum I got this list from is that people were pissy because Space Invaders wasn't on the list. Personally, I would list that game as one of the most if not THE most important video game of all time, but I wouldn't consider it necessarily the best as a game itself.

Yeah, that's an important distinction, whether it's the the "best" quality wise or whether it's influential.

I have an issue with the idea of lists like this, because many of these games are so different from each other that it's hard for me to compare actual quality. Like, I can't argue that any of these aren't actually good games, but Pac Man versus Uncharted 2 is such a huge jump in technology, genre, methods of interaction and everything that declaring one to be qualitatively better than the other seems... hmm. I guess I think some of the older games on here are on the list purely because they were old, influential games, and not because they are actually that great in relative terms. It's true that we see a lot of games with no soul these days, but the newer games on this list actually are awesome, and I'd rather play any one of those than most of the older (pre-SNES) games that made the list.

So if boring Pac Man is on here then why isn't Space Invaders there too ):< Leave them both off lol

I don't think I was ever bored with Pac Man, just frustrated that I wasn't as good as my late uncle who was a whiz at the higher levels and I'd watch in awe as his Pac Man blitzed all over the screen.

And while I'm not sure what the list criteria entailed (I'm sure the GI issue itself mentioned it), I could easily put money down on the 'Nostalgia Factor' of a game. Beats me as to how or why a game beats another, but there's a quite a many of them that deserved to make the list. I was happy to see the most of the ones I saw, no matter the order really.

But, as always, that's just me rofl
