I would sometime like to play a steampunk Dungeons and Dragons game, but it's kinda hard, I tried it before but it's a difficult world to have a roleplaying game. So if anyone has any pointers... Thanks!

Hey Galvad, have you had any luck? I'm trying to do the same thing!

I think that one would have to do a mystery of some sort... Or I guess you could do one that is like in Europe and there is all sorts of politics... And you could have really interesting characters who are interested in all sorts of different sciences... You have any ideas?

Aye, sounds super. As for any pointers? I wish. All I've done is RP with steampunk contraptions, and i try not to get too carried away with it. Like my avatars peg leg and arm, they have some crazy features to them, but otherwise not too out of the ordinary. You know, left forearm separates, making a small cannon, fist has a lot of cable it it, and is great for scaling walls, grasping enemies from a distance, etc. etc.... Peg leg is electro magnetic, has three spikes that fold up seamlessly with the rest of the leg for use in anchoring her down when nessesary, can walk upside down with the aid of her boot, which is also electro magnetic. Her occasional tophat is just that, nothing special except that it holds most of her smaller things, like her mothers music-box/secret message pendant. Her left arm and leg, although they look like brass or bronze are actually a much stronger metal, with bronze to throw people, and because it looks nice. Otherwise, the only other thing I forgot to mention is the single shot in her peg leg. I thought about changing that to add a barrel cartridge so it could be more effective, but changed my mind. Her false limbs weigh as much as she does together when she isn't wearing them, though she's usually wearing her pegleg all the time. Even in the shower, which is probably why it gets rusty so much, that or from the sea water when she goes diving. Her current airship isn't half bad either. It has exposed pipes all along the walls in the hallways, and a few of the rooms, don't touch, they shock, one of the rooms has shelves that retract into the walls or into the floor into lower, secret rooms, to clear out space for a dojo-style training room, complete with varied weapons rack, hence why she's so diverse with weapons, and the lowest quarters is pretty much a garage, with workshop, lifts, hoists and cranes, and the hull spits down the middle to allow for storage of larger materials, or to remove vehicles and other things that can't fit up the stairs. Yes this ship has cannons, not a lot, but it also isn't exactly a warship. It's made to knock the enemy around, then either move in and allow for boarding of enemy ship, or turn tail and flee. it is a swift ship, and one weapon store out of sight, is a large cannon, that shoots an experimental explosive shot from a large shell, (kind of like a tank, or how a rifle takes a shell, with bullet in one end, primer in the other) and the shells are so heavy, it generally takes two people to load each shot. Some stronger people can do it themselves, Like my avie, but she has to use her mechanical arm, but it isn't recommended. This cannon is hidden just below deck, near the bow, (The very front of the ship if I named that wrong) It reveals itself from behind a double trapdoor, and is extra reinforced around the cannon to keep from tearing the ship apart. It has enough power to sink a metal ship, or blow a hole through a thick fortress wall with a single shot or two. (depends on thickness of wall of course) I'm working on un-'godmoding' a few items, because I wish to use them later, and even I would complain about their awesomeness and stuff. Just trying to make these things more 'normal' to a point, but in the world of steampunk, so many things are possible.

Abney Park is working on such a game

It's a game similar to DnD

You'll all be pleased to know that a 4th Ed. source book is in the making for steampunk! It's called Clockwork Adventures. What I've seen thus far via the newsletters looks interesting. They've run into some kinks, but they're hard at work taking care of that.
