Wielder Sez: First Post
Alright. My friend Tim, who is generally obsessive, is planning on taking a computer Graphics Class sometime in the Near future. The First thing he wants to do when he Finishes is make an RTS game like StarCraft, Dawn of War, Red Alert, etc. etc., So on so forth. Now. I thought I came up with the perfect Idea for this RTS game...
Why not base it off the GML?
For generic units and squads it would be pretty simple, and for Hero characters (cause we know we'll have some) We have a plentiful amount to choose from from our roleplaying characters themselves.
For an enemy Race, I'm once again figuring bringing back Suicidious and his army of Orcs and such. Then I'll think of maybe another few races or groups to throw in there...
My friend likes my idea, and is asking me to be his partner on designing storylines and character abilities and the like.
Now, My question to all of you is whether you like this idea.
My MAIN question, which only Gear_Richie can answer, is whether I have PERMISSION to use the GML concept.

Dude... Ho... ly... shiznit... One sec, I need to find something epic enough to begin to describe the epicness of this... Okay, this was the best I could come up with after 30 seconds of searching:  Seriously, If we had a freakin GAME based on us... F***... We'd be Top Dogs, man. TOP. DOGS. Really. I mean, Gear, if you say yes to this, we have to put out a Mass-Announcement the moment after you do. This... Is... EPIC.

SLOW DOWN THERE BOY! There is no Guarantee here. He still has to take the class, and then we have to try and make said game on top of another game we already have, pus school and our everyday lives. I would like to just start planning it, but I feel I should get permission first.

Sorry to do this... Jagged Alliance WikiBasically a mercenary RTS set in the modern world. (Well, it was modern in 1994 when it was made) They made several sequels. In all it was a decent set of games, to be honest, but nothing ground-breaking. Plays a lot like the X-COM games, if not nearly exactly except that it allows for better stealth and ambush tactics like tossing porno-mags on the ground so enemies are too busy wanking the weasel to notice your SMG planted quite firmly to their dome-piece. It also allowed for the characters' egos to come into play during missions so you had to keep them happy or watch them eventually go psychotic on each other.

I might need to make a new and seperate chara for this... I kind of had my own ideas for a game including Kaneharo and Drade... I'm just lacking the development team atm.

Two things: One, when/if it gets Finished, you NEED To make available for us all to play. NO Ifs, Ands, or Buts. Upload it to Rapidshare, Put it on Newgrounds, Whatever you need to do, it NEEDS to be available to us to play.
Two: It wouldn't be fair to just have 3 Heroes. We've got plenty of Folks on here who deserve a Spot. Klamachpin, Aiusagi, Kane, K', And a couple others too. So, If it's possible, try to add them in, too. Cuz they deserve it!

Klamachpin already has a spot in the game. She's gonna be the one who says "Upgrade Complete" and "We are under attack!" And stuff like that. It get's harder and harder for me to add more heroes because then I have to give them their own bonuses. It get's really confusing at times for me, Because there's only so many bonuses I can think of to fit their roleplaying characters.

Mmm... Alright Gear. I'll change that too. And I'm switching something between our heroes. YOU are the Long-ranged person, while I can be equally skilled at close and long range, but a bit less than you or Wielder.

When it really kicks off the ground, I will make a new thread Titled "RTS Game Development Updates." And then I will have oh so very important questions for some people... Like This. For those people who I made heroes out of, I will need 5 phrases (give or take) that your character will say whenever you click on them. They need to be SHORT. Alright, that was more of a demand, but... Yeah. Don't worry about that question yet. If you tell me now, I'll probably lose it.
