I'm thinking about hosting a writing contest on behalf of the guild. I want y'all opinions and any suggestions that you want to make concerning this, and, of course, any donations to fund the prizes.
What I'm thinking about so far: Prompts: I'm thinking quotes or pictures without much of a theme. Entrance fee: I don't want to have one, but I may have to. Prizes: I have some old Monthly collectables gathering dust so I'll probably use some of those for the first place prize. Second and third place will probably unique items or gold.
I would also love to have a couple people from the guild to help with the judging. If you are a member, I would be willing to except you as a judge as long as you are willing to set the time aside to do it. The judging itself will be based on some kind of numbers or percentage system (Plot: 5 points you give them as many as you think they deserve), but I would also love to give all of the entrances critiques so judging will be rather time consuming.
I may/may not allow current members to enter the contest. I'll let y'all vote about that.
I would really like y'alls input about this since I will be hosting it for the guild and y'all are part of the guild. I would love any feedback on this idea that y'all are willing to give.

that would be total awesome. I really like to write fanfiction about the anime Inuyasha so maybe you can host a fanfiction contest.

I wouldn't mind doing a fanfiction contest, but I have a very small list of fandoms. I think that I will probably allow fanfiction for this contest if they run which fandom they're doing by me first to see if I know it, but I know very little some of the more popular fandoms so I just don't feel comfortable hosting one.

I went ahead and created the thread for the contest. I would prefer if you would judge, but if someone wants to enter, I prefer if you didn't mention you are a member of the guild. It might look a little suspicious if you are already a member. Here's the link.

I'm more than happy to judge for this contest. (I've judged four of my own, so I'm not at all new to the process.)
Might I suggest that you add a few more guidelines to the rules on the contest? A great deal many people will probably ask about word count limits and such... (Just saying, heh.)

Yay, EE! You're awesome! I assumed you've looked around the contest. I just need some of the information that you want to put down (much like what I've got) and five "themes" that you want to supply bonus points for. It can be anything that you want. You can PM me it if you want.
I thought about a word count, but I couldn't come up with a number that I thought was decent. What do you suggest for the word count?

I would suggest a minimum of 600 words and a maximum of 10k. While this seems like a huge range, really, more literate writers will be eager to manipulate that space and time.
I'll go ahead and send you the information now.
