Silas and Chris, start spouting ideas here. I'll be back in a second.

Well, we'd need something to draw the characters together in one form or another. Maybe have some kind of planeswalker hunter?
S/he could be from before the Mending, a la Sorin, Liliana and Bolas... Perhaps s/he believes that by destroying other planeswalkers s/he could absorb their spark and eventually regain their lost power? It'd be an interesting idea.

Well since sareth is much like alara it could attract the attention of Bolas to do what he failed to do in alara. But are we going to use cards with this RP or just straight up PW rp?

(Actually, Bolas succeeded on Alara)
Kind of hesitant to put pre-existing characters in the RP, and I'd rather not have it take place on Sareth (or at least, not have anything world shattering).
As far as using cards, I dunno. I feel that just by roleplaying normally we can get a pretty good fee for the character without the use of cards, but for the purpose of deckbuilding using cards could be useful. If we did use cards, I'd say it just be
"~ mumbled a few words, and giant black hands sprung out of the ground and surrounding the unfortunate goblin, tearing it limb from limb before sinking back into the ground, leaving no trace of the death.
((Tendrils of Corruption))" instead of doing a full magic game, especially because I don't know of any mtg-online type program that does multiplayer

Yeah, that would be how I would do it. Just keep a list of your hand at the main story post and that could determine what spells your PW could cast to avoid god mode tendancies.

Dunno if it would be good idea to involve Sareth in this. I was thinking that it would be something entirely unrelated. Seeing as I'm not as well-versed in mtg as you two, I would be willing to do whatever you'd like.

There are, quite literally (as long as you don't take time too heavily into account) and unlimited number of planes in the magic multiverse. A planeswalker simply will not travel to all of them - maybe Sareth has already been destroyed by this time. What say you, chris?
And please see the double-post I did above for the mtgsalvation wiki link.

I wouldn't mind not including sareth, but having a more "main plane" would be helpful. More of an alara for RPing purposes where all our characters would be drawn too for various story reasons.

Planeswalkers are drawn to planes for a lot of reasons, not just because of "hey look, those X planes look like they were once one!"
Which is kinda what I was saying with that planeswalker hunter. If s/he just happened to find the other characters (that could be an NPC or one of our characters), that'd be a pretty good way of drawing everyone to one place.
Any other ideas for why our characters are interacting? Even just three planeswalkers who happened to all go to the same plane at the same time.

Planeswalker hunter would not be a bad idea. Question is who would this hunter be?

Some sort of vitally-important war, perhaps? The problem is that I don't know what scale, exactly, the planeswalkers operate in. Would they have reasonable wizard-motives?

Essentially, we just need a plot. Once we get a plot, we can get characters. Once we get a plot and characters, we can figure out the setting (at least initially). Once we get a plot, characters and an initial setting, we can start RPing.
Post-mending, planeswalkers start to form guilds and such specifically for planeswalkers (the Seekers are a notable one. They operate throughout Ravnica and Esper/Alara). There are multiple organizations and they don't always meet eye-to-eye, so it could even be these organizations all fighting each other over a plane or something like that.

The planeswalkers are all, coincidentally, aiding some people in a dire war against an oppressive enemy. This draws them together. What is the significance of this conflict? Why have we all decided to partake in it? Who knows... I would like to know whether a planeswalker possesses a significantly larger power and breadth of abilities than a normal wizard.
[EDIT] That last bit, too. Confict between rival planeswalker-guilds.

Well, when a planeswalker's spark ignites, the planeswalker does gain some power. Not nearly as much as they did before the mending (where they essentially became gods), but they do gain some. Often, planeswalkers were wizards before they ascended, and their magical abilities translate over.
The only really notable power that the spark gives people is that they became very resistant to magic - hence the reason why the most powerful wizards in the game have maybe 6 toughness, thus able to withstand two lightning bolts before dying, while a planeswalker (read: you) has 20 life, thus able to withstand nearly 7 lightning bolts before dying.
Aside from the ability to shrug aside an enormous amount of damage and the ability to move through the blind eternities, the spark doesn't really give anything else (post mending).
