Hey, I was just wondering--I've been thinking lately that maybe looking into some kinds of music programs for university would be interesting; I have another year to go before I've got to decide anything, but I was just wondering if you guys knew anything about requirements. I play second chair right now in band, always flute 1, and I've been playing just with the school for about 5 years now... I have a level five piano grade, but I've never taken any sort of flut lessons. Do you guys know anything about university/college requirments and what you can do with them?

At my college, you can take lessons as an actual class. No requirements needed. It is actually cheaper to take them through the school rather than pay for them outside of classes. But thats just my college and personal opinion.

Lessons are usually available through the university itself. Unless the flute professor in question has a full studio, as does mine. A concert band/collegiate band is usually open to all who want to join, although it is highly dependent on the size of your school. So on and so forth.
