Negaverse: Lt. Leucite
Name: Mathias White
Nicknames: None at the moment
Age: 20
Birthday: Aug 11th
Sign: Leo
Blood Type: A-
Fav. Food: Steak and Eggs
Hated Food: Anything green
School: Destiny City University - Studying Art, with a specialization in painting.
Hobbies:
Painting: Mathias loves to paint, any medium, any type of paint. He's very much an abstract painter, not a believer in the more traditional styles of painting. He also finds inspiration in the strangest of places.
Free running - When in the city he follows the path of least resistance when he moves, jumping over fences, barricades, walls, etc. This hobby began when he started sneaking out of the military installations he lived on, and he has a paint spattered denim jacket that he uses to cover the razor wire on top of the fences. He enjoys the rush he gets from dodging cars and the law while running through the urban jungle, the exhilaration of making that almost impossible jump from rooftop to rooftop. Granted, this hobby is not without it's own risks, Mathias has had his fair share of brushes with the law and other security services for being places he shouldn't be. For the most part, he banks on the fact he's way too out of the way for anyone to seriously pursue him to make a quick escape - however, on the rare occasions he does get caught - or arrested - he knows he can rely on his mother to bail him out if he's out and about town, even hire a good lawyer for his defense - if they press charges. If he's on his father's duty station and gets caught, he knows he'll just be brought to his father so it's not so big a deal.
Mixed Martial Arts: Mathias often goes to the gym early in the morning before school and then again after to practice on his mixed martial arts. He wants to break out into the scene someday and prove that he's got what it takes to go pro. This is more a possible means of employment down the line than an actually hobby per say, and he takes it rather seriously.
Gemstone: Peridot
Virtues:
Dutiful: Usually, when Mathias puts his mind toward a task, such as studying or an important project, it becomes a duty and he will try to follow through on it. He sets goals for himself and strives to achieve them - viewing them as duties for him to accomplish. This tends to keeps him focused while working on things that are difficult for him, which keeps him from stressing out completely under pressure. This sense of duty stems from being raised in a very duty driven environment, more than once having to be the 'man' of the house while his father was deployed. Should he fail at the tasks he assigns himself, he is very harsh with himself, seeing it as a failure of his character as a whole, and strives to do better the next time. He will almost never give up on his mission, even if failure is inevitable, unless he has no other choice. He doesn't usually turn down duties assigned to him by his betters, even if he dislikes them, but he will push them aside or make them less a priority. He will avoid overloading himself as much as he can, but if he ends up with too much on his plate, he simple reassesses the priority of his duties and pursues those that are the most vital at the time. There are occasions where he as been unable to focus on tasks, but they are rare and usually the result of when he is under a lot of stress. He follows a rather established code (see respect where it is do) – but that is not to say that he is a saint and follows this code to the death. Mathias has his moments of weakness, even given his drive and view of ethics. If given a task he views as morally wrong, he will more than likely argue against such action or go against the standing order. This is less likely to happen if he agrees with this task, or he feels that it serves the "greater good" – even if in a roundabout way. His drive can be used against him just as much as for him, and he has in the past fallen prey to hoisting himself on his own petard.
Disciplined: Having been raised by a military family, he has been kept to a higher standard of fitness than most kids. He was held to a strict code of conduct where children should be seen and not heard and was expected to keep a level of military bearing at home and school. A portion of this discipline has carried over into his daily life mainly in the form of his routine and fitness. He wakes early every morning and is usually out of his dorm before the sun is up to go and work out at the gym before class. Once he finishes working out, he heads off to class on the weekdays or out and about on the weekends (he hits the gym about 6 days a week, taking Sunday as a rest day) and usually doesn't return to his dorm until well after the sun has set. Once he gets home, he finishes any upkeep or homework he needs to complete and usually heads straight to bed. He was raised to respect others and follow orders as they were given; however, as he has grown and matured, this was tempered somewhat by a growing rebellious streak brought on by the growing hate of his father. He can put on his game face when needed and become a cold-stone faced automaton when the need arises, but like most who are connected to the military he spends the majority of his time as 'himself.'
Witty: Mathias is a firm believer that humor is the great equalizer. Laughter is disarming, and he tends to have something funny to say about almost any situation. One-liners, the occasional off-color joke, even dark humor – if it might possibly elicit a chuckle from someone, he's more than willing to test the waters. That's not to say that he doesn't sometimes take things too far and venture into offensive territory. Sometimes his off-color jokes are too off-colored, sometimes his gallows humor a bit too soon. He's not above making a fool of himself if the need arises to break the ice, and sometimes he can rub people the wrong way with his sense of humor. If someone tells him he's taking it too far, or people act offended, he usually shuts up and backs out of the conversation, taking a back seat.
Repsectful: Mathias will respect those that have earned his respect or should naturally have respect due to their position. (IE His elders, those who hold a higher 'rank' – they get this due to their position and it is automatically so) However, those that lose respect in his eyes will often find it almost impossible to earn it back. First impressions are paramount with Mathias, who has moved around so much he rarely has the time to really get to know people. Those that lose his respect or fail to earn it, will often find Mathias to be a near constant thorn in their side. He is not above getting physical with someone he doesn't respect, especially if he feels they are crossing a line. He has gotten suspended more than once for mouthing off to teachers he thought were idiots or getting into fights with other students. People who are honest about themselves and come off as good people quickly earn his respect, while those that front and pose as something they are not easily raise his ire. If he thinks someone is stupid, he is not afraid to let them know it – regardless of who they are. Mathias was raised under three core values – Integrity First, Service before Self, and Excellence in all you do. Simply, he believes in being trustworthy and honest, helping those that need it and doing what you do well. Those who are not willing to put in the effort to do what needs to be done will lose respect in his eyes, as well as people who prove to be untrustworthy. That is not to say that Mathis isn't above lying or being self serving, he is human and sometimes he has his failings.
Flaws:
Stubborn: When he gets an idea on what he is going to do, it almost takes an act of god to make him change his mind. He tends to see life is black and white, there are winners and there are losers, and he hates to lose. He will often dig in his heels if he feels that people are trying to make him change his point of view, and isn't afraid to get his hands dirty to support his position. He's not great at arguing points, and his opinions aren't always based on facts, but they're his opinions and he sticks by them. When presented with facts that blow his opinions out of the water, Mathias is usually forced to reconsider his stance, even if he fights the entire way. He is more than willing to agree to disagree with people, however, he will occasionally poke at them if he believes they are wrong until evidence to the contrary is provided. His opinions can and have changed in the past, especially when it involves matters that influence his life directly.
Loudmouthed:Having a solider for a father has left Mathis with one unsavory habit. If he thinks it, odds are he's going to say it, even if it is the most politically incorrect and horrible thing ever devised by the human language. It doesn't matter who he is talking to, his grandmother, his superior officer, the pope or his dog, they all get the same torrent of one-liners, which he tends to believe is building rapport. In the presence of superiors he tries to curb this by either mumbling or biting his tongue, but it rarely works, and he will often say what is on his mind. He views this as a blessing and a curse, but more a curse, mainly because of his mouths habit of outrunning his brain. He has lost jobs and a few friends over his inability to shut up, having said things he shouldn't to customers or to his friends, and he has taken these events in stride. Having grown up around a more open squadron, he saw and heard superiors and subordinates shooting insults and curses at each other, as well as off-color jokes. He knows that there is a time and place for these things and very rarely he does save himself from making a complete a** of himself – but nine times out of ten, he will speak his mind, even if he regrets it later.
Tactless: He has manners but sometimes he decides not to use them, usually in the presence of people he dislikes. He is not above cussing people out when the need arises. Once he becomes comfortable with someone, he tends to lose any and all manners as a matter of course, thinking that social traditions really aren't needed between 'friends'. To his friends, he is crass and rude, asking probing questions and teasing them relentlessly. It's all meant in good fun, but can come off as being hurtful. Swearing for him is natural as breathing, it doesn't matter who is around. He tends to side with superiors and attempts to be polite and professional around them; he tends to take much better to female authority figures though. If called out on his lack of manners, he often goes on the defensive, pointing out that if he didn't like his friends, he wouldn't be so open with them, and feels a tad hurt. In a work/class environment and amongst strangers, he tends to be as polite as possible, but oftentimes his true self slips through the cracks in his facade.
Vengeful: Mathias holds grudges, if someone gets on his bad side, he is not one to forgive and forget. He will go to open war against those he considers his enemies, and isn't above actively sabotaging them at any given turn. His list isn't very long, mainly his father and those who have really earned his ire, but when someone's name is added to his list of grudges, it is almost impossible to get off. Once he has a grudge, he will not give up on it until he is absolutely certain that 'justice' has been served. Very rarely can someone talk him out of it, but it is possible, it just takes a lot of time and effort to break past his stubborn streak and his desire for vengeance.

WHY THE NEGAVERSE: Hate drives him to extremes. He hates his father, who abused him daily when he was younger, with a passion, to the point that he is willing to go to any lengths to defy him. In fact he did so - by going to college instead of enlisting or attending a military academy. Instead, he focused on his passion and is now seeking to become a painter.
His father represents all he finds wrong and evil in the world, an authority figure that has no grasp on what it means to live freely by one's will. His deepest wish is to rid the world of any sort of oppressive regime that would stop people from being who they really want to be. To this day he still feels that there is no greater injustice in the world than his father's continued existence.

THE FAMILY:
Father - Lt. Col. Markus White, 129th Security Forces Squadron commander Markus White is the paragon of a squadron commander, he follows regulations to the letter, a throwback to his enlisted days. He does not love his son, in fact, he feels his son is a disgrace to the family name and has tried his best in the last few years to hide his existence from those who could open the door for his promotion. Lt. Colonel White is an ambitious man and his guile knows no bounds. He would disown his son if it weren't for the pesky image of being a kind and caring man he has to keep up for the sake of his job.
Mother - Ellane White Ellane White is a caring mother and dutiful wife. While she loves her son, she can't help but feeling hurt and torn whenever she sees him and discovers how far he has fallen from the path she tried to set him on. In ill health as of late, she worries that one day her son may literally be the death of her.
His relationship with his parents is not a warm one, to the point that when he sees them he rarely acknowledges their existence. He does this to spite them, even if he really only hates his father, but he knows that if he really wants to cause damage to the norm, that there is going to be collateral damage.

Freerunning, hm? Nice! Mickey and him should run around town together sometime. I think freerunning and parkour are basically the same thing. -nods-
Not bad, but I'm not sure how military pedigree is part of his personality. Would he be more strict and obedient because of it? (Apparently not, according to the rest of the profile, haha.) Expect Respect doesn't sound very much like a virtue either. Try to make it seem like a more positive trait?
Mathias' weakness should be one of his flaws, so you'll need to nick one of your original flaws for his weakness.
If he doesn't like authority, why did he join Negaverse? It's a pretty strict place, probably even stricter than his dad.
Not bad. Despite his hate of authority, I think he can fit into the Negaverse pretty nicely!

Thanks for the crit Syusaki.
A lot of the things you pointed out were issues that after posting it and giving it a good once over myself, seemed to stand out and made me winch a little to myself. I am sitting down and trying to fix them, but he's being a shifty little bugger. The character in my head is trying really hard to make it to the page, but I am definatly losing something between mind and fingers.
I'm working on a few edits right now, and I would love to see what you think when I'm done!

Edits are up.

I think Mathias looks alright overall, but maybe Torvil could clarify when he behaves for authority figures and when he cuts loose with the cussing and defiance and all? Does he sort of only make fun of them behind their backs, or will he cuss at a teacher without a second thought? Or is the foul language and lack of manners only reserved for his peers? How does he behave when in a group, like for a project - does he generally take charge, or allow someone else to take charge? How does he respond when he has to follow the lead of one of his peers? Does he cuss in the presence of ladies? Also, does Mathias respond better in general to female authority figures?

Thanks for the crit Kumoru!
That really helps me pin down some of the more finer aspects of his character, I had to think on it a bit, since he's slowly starting to come along in my head.

Hey Torvil.
Overall, I really like your boy. He seems like the kind of person who would fit in well with the Negaverse, based on his martial upbringing and interest in adventerous fights.
On the negative side, I think that he's a bit muddled. If he's very disciplined and gives proper respect where it's due (two of his virtues), then why does he participate in so many illegal activities? Why did he get kicked out of military school? Is it just that he dislikes those elements and prefers the streets because they're more "real"? I think some further explanation is needed to unite his strict upbringing with his rebellious present.
Similiarly, you seem to have some clashing virtues and flaws. "Manners? Oh, those!" seems to be exactly the opposite of how you have "Respect where it is due." Perhaps if he only had poor manners towards those "beneath" him and was polite to his superiors they could both co-exist?
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the crit Quicksilver!
Edits are up, these ones took a little bit more sitting and thinking about, and you raised a good point in your crit with how one virtue and flaw cancel each other out, so hopefully this tweak will fix it.
I tried to flesh out his reasoning behind his behavior a bit more, since it is kind of interesting how his disciplinarian upbringing lead him to become such a royal punk.
Edit: Also Disney's Princess and the Frog was freaking awesome, and I suggest people go and see it, it's 100% back to classic Disney movie.

Hobbies:
Tagging - A can of spray paint in his hand leads to interesting graffiti designs wherever there is a surface that will hold it. He started tagging as soon as he was introduced to the idea in middle school. He carries a large supply of spray paint on his person whenever he goes out just in case he runs into a proper 'canvas'. If he is interrupted during his work he gets angry and will usually turn on the interrupter. His tag signature is 'FBC'.
Unauthorized Street Fights - His most recent hobby which he started when he entered high school. It began as a simple fight club but as he discovered his talent and skill in fist fighting he began to seek out more of a challenge. Moving on to the back alley brawls common in most cities, he makes a decent bit of side cash when he steps into the ring. He knows there's a potential for death in there, but that's half the fun.
Theses are very -interesting- hobbies to be sure, but the first question that comes to mind is "Why is he not in Juvie" - it sounds as though he is most likely a repeat offender. It sounds unlikely that his Father would bail him out since he would have clearly presented himself as an 'Enemy' by breaking rules left and right. But it's also unlikely that the Negaverse would corrupt someone whom was likely to end up in jail and to do so quickly. The cops in this universe may be preoccupied with Senshi but I don't think they would turn a blind eye to a kid training to be a human bullet train (see learning free-running. And I do hope you mean learning... but also one who Tags, and engages in street fights. All of these are VERY serious, you might not do badly to have him conscripted to be part of a JROTC instead. That would give him a good base to be physically fit without driving yourself too hard into the "I'm the ultimate rebel" hole which can honestly be hard to a) rp, and b) get others to RP with you. People might not be willing to give him a chance if he seems too flat out "Billy Mc.Badass right off the bat, which his hobbies seem to imply?
Respect where it is due: He gives respect to those that hold a higher rank than he, be they upperclassmen or those with actual military rank. He tends to treat males and females the same, but that is not to say that girls do not sometimes receive preferential treatment. He tries to form rapport with those he works or hangs out with, using his wit to try and win them over to his side of things. However, if anyone loses respect in his eyes, he becomes belligerent and any and all manners he had around them go out the window.
-- Out of curiosity, what would make him loose respect for someone? Could that respect ever be regained? Would he have a respect for 'seniority' (like someone in the Negaverse whom had been there a greater period of time? Or treat them as an equal or less due to title alone?
Stubborn as a mule: When he gets an idea on what he is going to do, he will hold onto that idea no matter what. His life is black and white, there are winners and there are losers, and he hates to lose. He will dig in his heels if he feels that people are trying to make him change his point of view, and isn't afraid to get his hands dirty to support his position. He's not great at arguing points, and his opinions aren't always based on facts, but they're his opinions and he sticks by them.
-- What will he do if he's handed an order? It could be a teacher or a Captain, or even Charonite. Where does he draw the line or break it for being so stubborn? How does this tie into his respect where respect is due? Is he more likely to buckle if he respects you or, the second you say something he doesn't care for will he stomp and refuse?
Word vomit: If he thinks it he says it, even if it is the most politically incorrect and horrible thing ever devised by the human language. It doesn't matter who he is talking to, his grandmother, his superior officer, the pope or his dog, they all get the same torrent of one-liners, which he tends to believe is building rapport. In the presence of superiors he tries to curb this by either mumbling or biting his tongue, but it never works, and he will say what is on his mind no matter what.
-- Again how does this work with his Respect virtue. If he's had a very military up bringing it seems odd that he would speak back out of turn and without respect. Is he able at all to internalize his more snarky commentary? If his father was abusive than it's likely that he -should- have learned that or else elevate the probably violence. Mouthing off in the negaverse has gotten Varisite's car driven off a cliff and her beaten within an inch of her life. In short it's no more tolerated than in a traditional military. How will he adapt?
Manners? Oh those!: He has manners but sometimes he decides not to use them, usually in the presence of people he dislikes.
-- this seems to contradict "word vomit" - if he shoots off his mouth, spilling whatever is on his mind no matter how callous and even if you are his superior, but here he tends to 'side with them and attempts to be polite and professional' - I'm sure you can tie them together, and could almost defiantly collapse them into one flaw rather than trying to split them into two if you re-word slightly. Again I'd consider the impact of his military upbringing. Perhaps he's more likely to be rude and cursing to those 'under' him, rather in a 'drill sergeant' like manner, or is this way more in a casual 'mess hall' like setting.
For the cause!: When he backs a cause, he puts his all into it, no matter how far it might go. If anyone is against the cause they're his enemy, and if he can't talk them over to his side, or subdue them, he will not hesitate to upping the ante. This makes forming relationships with others difficult, as he sees enemies everywhere, even in his 'allies'. The Superior officer's word is law, and if you don't follow that law, you are wrong, and deserve what you get in the end.
-- Am I correct that what your trying for here is a sort of 'blind obedience' to orders? You said before that he will put his foot down if he disagrees, what if he disagrees with an order. (there are always exceptions, and in this case I think you VERY much will want to account for what happens. He really seems to flip back and forth between "Anti-military-rebel" and "Militant Rebel" - and with some polish you could clear that up.
---
Weapons -
His starter weapon is too dangerous for a LT. Keep in mind most of them are armed with things like jump ropes or enormous squeaky hammers.
I'm afraid there was already a quest that wanted a flame thrower and it was denied. Try to think of weapons that will reduce collateral damage.
Even Obsidian's sword is impractical to use for a flat out Kill, it's too heavy and too unwieldy. Guns are also out of the question for similar reasons. But since he is military oriented at least in part you could consider side arms from 'Dress blue' uniforms for General up for example. Or better would be to check the suggestions thread for ideas!

Pretty much everything Ende has said. There's no way he wouldn't have a record or be in Juvie by now. Even at 17, the kind of things he's doing, they'd be looking to try and charge him as an adult by now.
I also sill have a very hard time working out how he can have respect for authority figures, but perform so many illegal activities. Why didn't he shape up when his superiors at the military academies told him to? Why did he keep disobeying there, to the extent of being expelled? I think he's got to be either one or the other. Either he obeys his authority figures or not. Judging form his background, especially with hard father, I would say it makes far more sense for him to not obey authority figures. You'd be better off trying to work out a plausible reason for him to follow Charonite's orders, instead of trying to have him obey rule superiors, but still break all the rules. Maybe he only obeys when there's something in it for him (and he gets personal power from being in the Negaverse)? Maybe he only obeys when he feels his life in being threatened (which Charonite would certainly be doing)?
Other than that, everything Ende says. Please resubmit to the Crit/Marking thread after reworking ^_~

Free Running: For the most part it looks good! I like that you include how he started, why he does it and how. Out of curiosity, does he ever get caught? What would happen if he was caught/arrested? Virtues and Flaws: I have nothing to crit! I love how much detail you went into and it made it impossible for me to come up with any questions in regards to any of it. You hit every nail on the head! I can see that you've worked hard with past critters to get his flaws and virtues to balance well. While the titles themselves sometimes seem to contradict each other, I think your explanations and reasonings make it all work. With some clarification on his hobby, I'll give you a trial stamp!
