 Starlite had thought today would turn out to be a pretty decent day, it had started off fairly well - the sun had risen bright and clear,the clouds were white and puffy and the air though crisp held a promise for warmth as the day progressed. Yes the day had certainly started out well...it was really to bad it hadn't continued on that way.
Starlite heaved out long uffering sigh as she looked down at her once beautiful shimmery hide...now covered in various much and filth from the bottom of a ravine up to her knees, her lovely multi-hued mane and tail - generally her pride and joy was matted and burr filled from the underbrush she'd had to battle through...and she was pretty sure the canis pup she'd rescued from drowning had peed on her leg.....
On the plus side, at least no one was around to se her like this and for that, she was grateful.

 For some time now Swiftwind had been roaming various parts of Urin for no other reason than to explore more of the land he called home. It was all beautiful so far, although he had to admit he still had a lot to see, and the Nequus that he had met along the way were all nice. Well except for that one, but he wouldn't let that stop him from enjoying his day. He stretched his multicolored wings while he stopped for a moment to look around. Today he traveled by ground. Sure he could fly but sometimes you could easily miss things while soaring through the clouds. As he looked about his surroundings he spotted a fancy colored mare as she climbed out of a ravine. One look at her made Swiftwind immediately move closer to her, she may need help. As he approached her he took a closer look. Although covered in mud and burrs she was still a beautiful sight to behold. "Do you need any help?" He asked as he reached her.

And it appeared she wouldn't be thankful for that for long...because no sooner had she thought it then someone came along to dash it. Such Starlite thought to herself..was life. tossing her head to get the dripping mass of forelock out of her eyes so she could better see just who it was that had come along to see her in this current state of misery she had to catch her breath a little bit.
Figures.
He would be handsome. Just her luck..and a bit late if helping was what he had in mind and the shimmery mare endeavored to tell him so "afraid your a little late if your looking to be a hero" she told him in jest 'I already saved the damsel in distress....and watched as she ran off without so much as a thank you ma'am to boot" she concluded with a wry look. Ungrateful little beast.

"I'm not trying to be a hero." He told her. "Just wanted to make sure you were okay considering.." He glanced at her mud covered legs and tail. "..well it's just that you looked like you might have fallen into the ravine there." A smile came across his maw as he looked at her.
"Oh where are my manners." He continued after a moment. "My name is Swiftwind. May I ask your name?"

Starlite knew exactly what the stallion was getting at when he took a gander at her muck covered legs, Starlite was not typically our down and dirty type of girl...generally she was pretty fastidious about keeping herself clean, why look good if your not going to flaunt it? But she was also pretty sure that saving the little beasts life - despite his ungrateful departure - had been worth it and so she wasn't going to be apologetic or embarrassed by her condition either.
Of course to the stallions credit he didn't seem to be anything but polite for the moment - and perhaps he had approached to see if she needed help rather then amuse himself at her expense like many other stallions would have done. "Me fall? I assure you I learned to walk at a very early age and am quite adept at it" She told him with a slight chuckle "No..it wasn't I who fell in but a small Canis pup, I'm Starlite"

He couldn't help but chuckle as she spoke. Well she certainly had a good sense of humor. "Well as long as you and the pup are uninjured that is good. Nothing a little water can't fix." He said in regards to her dirty legs. "It is good to meet you Starlite."
He fell into silence for a few moments not really sure what to say next, which was quite odd for Swiftwind always had something to talk about. "Are you from around here?" He asked not really knowing what else to say.

"Yes and no" she answered his question in a somewhat offhanded manner, her thoughts were a bit preoccupied with one of his other comments but she endeavored to answer him anyways "I spent some time here as a foal..but I've been gone a while now" she concluded,indeed a bit of water would fix things - and thankfully this was something the land of Yisi was not depleted in - if she wasn't mistaken she was pretty sure she'd seen a decent sized pool not very far to the west and she was somewhat anxious to get the mud off and return her her typical splendor such as it was.
"The little beast was fine, ran off yipping, no doubt to its mother" she replied with a slight smile 'and while I'm certainly enjoying our conversation perhaps you'd like to walk a bit to the west - I believe theres a pond there where I can get cleaned up some" she continued moving her head slightly in the direction of the pond to accentuate her point - she rather hoped he would agree to walk along with her, it had been a bit since she'd had any decent company. 'maybe you'll get lucky and find a creature to rescue yourself" She teased him "Then you can be as muddy as I am"

Swiftwind bobbed his head a bit as she spoke. Yisi would have been a beautiful place to grow up as a foal. "A lovely place to have grown up." He said. "I'm sure the little beast is happily back with it's mother now...if it's smart at least."
"Yes, let us go then." He replied and began to walk in the direction she indicated. Swiftwind thought for a moment and had to stop himself from saying 'Can you be the creature I save?' He wasn't sure if she would find that very funny, and why spoil their good conversation with a joke like that. "Yes, perhaps there will be a Rit trapped in a bog and I can become overly filthy trying to free it."

"It was nice, the trees were large and shady..and the shallow streams quite fun to play in as a foal, my mother was somewhat fond of what she liked to call 'natural wonders'" Starlite responded as they walked, typicaly such a walk would seem romantic she lamented - with her mane flittering like silken strands of rainbow on the wind and the sun shimmering on her hide... instead her mane weighted heavily along her neck in twisted clumps and her hide was quickly drying in an overall rust shade of brown...certainly not attractive.
At least her companion was attractive - with a sleek ivory hide and long golden rust hued mane and tail, and he wore the most peculiar adjournments that seemed to work on him though she was fairly certain would just look silly on her. Clearing her throat slightly to banish any further thoughts before she embarrassed herself Starlite cast him an impish sideways glance "I shall look extra hard for just such a creature"

"I grew up in D'ob, it was beautiful there, but no where near as beautiful as it is here." He stated as they continued along. He couldn't help but notice out of the corner of his eye that she was taking a good look at him. He had to hold in a chuckle.
He looked at her and his eyes lite up with a smile. "Any sign of a poor, defenseless creature for me to save yet?" He said half jokingly. The chances of running into a creature in distress was pretty slim, but one could never completely rule it out.

"D'ob has its appeal" She noted as he mentioned that as his foal hood home, it was quite different from Yisi and its towering trees however, Starlite had spent time in a both areas and to be honest she preferred the shady trees of Yisi to D'ob's open plains. Stopping their trek to the pond Starlite raised her head and cast a critical gaze out over the area.
"Well..." she started with hat she thought was a convincing furrow of her brow "there is that strange looking lump stuck in the mud over that ways" She motioned with her muzzle at an unidentifiable blob half sunk in the mud. "It could be a trapped animal..." she continued while giving him a smug look. "Perhaps you should check it out"

Swiftwind glanced in the direction she indicated, spotting the object. Well why not at least pretend to rescue whatever it was, might get a good laugh out of it. He glanced back at Starlite for a moment. "Indeed, I shall. Looks like whatever it is could use some help." And with that he trotted off towards the trapped object. Once he got closer he noticed that it was nothing more than an old stick.
"Have no fear little stick in the mud, I, Swiftwind shall save you." He called out as he reached the mud. Stepping into the red-brown mud he wadded his way over to the stick and plucked it from the mud. In doing so getting his nose covered with mud. Turning he made his way back out of the thick much which now covered his legs and tail and a bit of his belly. Then pranced back to where Starlite was carrying the stick in his mouth.
He set it down on the ground. "There you go little one, now run off to your mother." He said and gave the stick a little nudge. Looking up at Starlite he shrugged slightly. "Guess it doesn't want to leave yet. Must feel a certain attachment to it's rescuer." He said with a chuckle.

Starlite had to admit - she was fairly impressed with the stallion for actually going through with her dare - she really wouldn't have blamed him if he'd refused - who wants to get covered in mud? - but it did show a good bit of his nature that he was willing to play along and in effect make fun of himself. Not many stallions were willing to do something like that. Letting out a chortle of laughter as Swiftwind called out his intentions to the stick before wading out into the bog.
She continued laughing as he pranced back towards her with his trophy and set it upon the ground "Well...you can't really blame it I suppose" She remarked when the laughter had faded away "I imagine I'd have a certain affection for you if it had been me you'd plucked from the mud" she told him "But a little stick should not be raised by Nequus and so I expect we'll have to give it a bit of tough love and keep going" she continued with a mock sigh and fond look towards the stick before arching a brow at Swiftwind "Besides...we definitely need the water now"

The sound of her laugh made him feel all warm and bubbly inside. He raised his eyebrow at her comment, well that was a good sign. "Perhaps next time I shall make sure it is you I rescue then." He said with a chuckle. Glancing back at the stick before returning his gaze to Starlite. "Yes, I suppose a little tough love would do the little guy some good."
"Let us continue then." And he began to walk again. It didn't take long for them to reach the pond. He came to a stop at the shore and looked at Starlite. "Ladies first." He said as he motioned towards the pond with his wing.

"hmm well, I'd have to get into trouble first, are you implying I might be a trouble maker?" she questioned him in a teasing tone as they continued onwards leaving the 'rescued' stick behind to fend for itself. Their trip to the pond was fairly short and looking out upon the water Starlite was glad to see that her memories hadn't failed her - unlike the bog this bit of water was clean and clear, she would almost hate to dirty it by rinsing off the mud.
But..she hated the mud being on her more and ith an impish look on her face as he motioned her forward she bunched her muscles and launched herself into the water, kicking out her back legs to spray water every which way behind her, clearly with the intentions of splashing him.
