This Zelda RP is probably unlike any you've ever seen before. There is no Link, no Zelda, and no dark forces. This takes place in Hyrule, as depicted in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The storyline of this RP makes a lot more sense if you've played Ocarina of Time, and it couldn't hurt to have played the Wind Waker, either. This takes place during the civil war that caused the Gods to seal all of Hyrule under the waves for eternity. Read on.
Scenario
After defeating Ganon and sealing him away, Link released the Triforce of Courage and set out for Termina. But shortly thereafter, Zelda fell violently ill. None of the kingdom's doctors could heal her. However, the king soon heard of a certain herb in the Lost Woods that had the power to heal any illness not cause by injury. Immediately, the King asked the Kokiri to bring him this herb. Unfortunately, the herb did not exist, and the Kokiri knew it. They told this to the King, but he would hear none of it. He commanded them to bring it to him, but they could not. Before long, Zelda died.
The King was so enraged with grief and convinced that the Kokiri had withheld the precious plant that he declared the Kokiri enemies of Hyrule. As an act of war, he ordered a certain part of the forest that supplied the Kokiri with food burned down. Unknown to the King, the vast majority of the Dekus called that section of the forest their home. Some unfortunate scrubs burned, but most got away safely. Confused, they immediately made for the only place that had consistently provided them with shelter: the Kokiri forest. When they arrived, they told the Kokiri of what had happened. The Kokiri welcomed them and allowed them to stay in their section of the forest for as long as they needed.
Meanwhile, a lone Zora returning to the Zora's domain saw smoke rising over the forest. He immediately swam back to the Zora's domain and informed the King Zora. He was given orders to organize a group and extinguish the flames. So, he told the other Zoras of the fire, and they quickly set up a system by which they could get water to the fire. With all of the Zoras working together, the flames were quickly put out. It wasn't until later that they discovered the origin of the fire.
As soon as the King heard of the Zoras' successful efforts to stop his blaze, he assumed they were in league with the Kokiri. He decided to put into action a certain plan. He employed the Gorons to dig him a tunnel, something they had done many times before. But this time was different. The King had altered the map he gave the Gorons, so the tunnel seemed to go under Hyrule field, when it actually led under the Zoras' domain.
Having been paid for an express job, the Gorons got right on it. In less than a day, the Gorons were directly under the Zoras' domain. With nothing but a thin layer of rock holding up a massive quantity of water, it wasn't long before the rock gave way. Water flooded the tunnel, drowning the ten or so Gorons working on the tunnel at the time. To make matters worse, the King Zora was killed when the Royal Chamber collapsed.
Confused and scared, the Zoras fled downriver to Lake Hylia and took refuge there. After collecting themselves, several witnesses of the incident told the others of the Gorons in the tunnel. They soon pieced that together with the fire started by the King of Hyrule the day before and determined that the Gorons were working for the King now, and were enemies. So they sent a messenger to the Kokiri to propose an alliance.
The King, having heard of the success of his plan, immediately expressed his sympathies towards the lost Gorons. During a meeting with the Goron Elder, he convinced the Goron that the Zoras had altered the map he gave the Gorons so as to spoil his tunnel, and saw the dead Gorons as nothing more than collateral damage. The Goron Elder believed him, and proposed an alliance against their mutual enemy, the Zoras, as well as any who would harbor or help them. The King accepted, and said he would talk with the Gerudos as well, for they were indebted to him. Before her death, Zelda had cast a powerful spell to help the Gerudos by enabling them to no longer be restricted to a single male every hundred years. The Goron Elder agreed, and returned to Death Mountain to inform the Gorons and ready them for battle if need be.
The Kokiri and Deku gladly accepted the Zoras' offer, especially after hearing of the Zoras' part in putting out the forest fire. The Zora messenger left for Lake Hylia to tell the others the good news. They were glad, and started preparing for the inevitable conflict that was to come. The war of Hyrule had begun.
