Giovanni McAlster, the king of his kingdom and of his subjects' lives. He enjoys the power he has hold on everyone, from the measly, diseased peasants to even his own wife and son. The bout of plague that has been traveling through his kingdom is causing him a bit of trouble, his wife, the queen, is on her deathbed because of it. The probability of losing his lifelong companion had plagued him with sadness, but not more than the possibility of losing his own kingdom. If his queen died, he would be minus one of his 'council' that was created in order to keep his subjects thinking they were being represented in government. Knowing this was most likely going to happen, if not now then soon, the king would have to have a back up figure head to take the queen's place, this ordeal giving him the seemingly flawless idea of ordering his son to wed. If his son did not wed in time of the queen's death, the it would be a little over a month before the people would retaliate for not being represented by the correct number of patrons. Little did the people know was that this supposed 'council' the king had established years before to 'represent' his subjects was little more than a ploy to keep his subjects off his back and completely under his control. The 'council' was in reality a group of either royalty of very high nobles who simply discussed the matters of the day and represented all of the kingdom's subjects and their supposed view points of each group; no one other than the king himself has a say in what goes on in his kingdom though, rulings are entirely up to him. Being this way, the king also feared if a total outsider came into his kingdom, one who was not entirely for the upper class themselves, then their would be problems with judgment and perhaps the subjects would be informed of their king's dishonesty.
The king had gotten word just days before that his son had finally chosen a wife-to-be, and they were due to arrive momentarily. His son's wife would be one who would agree with the council's ways and be a good wife, so his son, the prince, had thought and therefore chosen her for these reasons. The lady was even bringing one of her own slaves with her, one who would have to deal with it's lady's given chores and doings for the most part alone. The king was also thinking that perhaps this slave should also work other tasks in the household, in fact he was planning on this.
At almost the very moment his tailors had completed dressing him, a servant came into his quarters to fetch him; his son, his wife-to-be, and her slave had just arrived. The king then graciously wiped off his shoulders of the invisible dirt that had accumulated and started to strut down the stairs towards the foyer.
"Howl, what is this?" the king asked offensively indicating the woman and slave, he peared down his nose at this woman who was standing next to his son, and the man, obvious slave by appearence, who was almost cowarding behind the two. The lady just seemed a trifle odd and the slave, well, in his opinion grotesque. He believed his son deserved much better than this.

[ha! you'll get over it razz Now I just gotta back it up....]
Akward...very Akward. Ralife thought to herself. For one she was upset that her father had sent her into this new situation.
She quite enjoyed her life as a quiet, book reading noble's daughter. She would sit by her huge window and read when she was alone. Laugh with Ange behind her fathers back and name the stars. She wasn't one to ask for much, but the sudden shock sent her into a spiral of emotion. She regretted that Ange had to watch her beg and plead with her father about his choice night and day since the news arrived. But her tears wouldn't save her...
Snapping back to the moment, Ralife glanced at the prince. She hadn't spoken a single word, she had Ange beside her at least. She fought for that. They planned on sending him days later..She couldn't handle that.
Prince Howl was an interesting character. It seemed he used charm to win and recieve what he wanted. He hadn't tried anything on her yet. Thats the way she wanted to keep it.
When they arrived to the castle, she remained quiet. Everything was so..Akward. Her hands remained in front of her, fiddling with the hem of her skirt. Looking up she realized the king was coming down the stairs towards them. She shot Ange a worried glance then looked back at the ground.
The king seemed furious and he did snapp towards her direction. She knew it was towards his son, yet she felt the stare. She knew the true meaning. But she remained quiet, her eyes glued to the floor. She felt Ange behind her, it made her feel safer, but the king was so...intimidating.

"Howl, what is this?"
Howl looked toward his father, the king, before placing a hand on Ralife's shoulder, partly possessively and partly as a motion to introduce her. With his other hand, he brushed a strand of fair hair out of his eyes before taking a breath and taking a single step forward.
"My bride-to-be, father, Ralife Shardea." He used the hand on Ralife's shoulder to bring the the step forward with him. He could practically feel the tension around Ralife and gave her shoulder a small squeeze. He assumed his father had just gotten up, his clothing didn't have even a single wrinkle in it. So it was safe to believe that his father's servants had just finished dressing him.
'Hmph, needs to have himself dressed.' Howl made no sign of his displeasure, knowing he wasn't in much of a position right now. He wasn't married, so he couldn't take the crown. Yet. But he would, no one should doubt that. The entire castle knew Howl didn't fear his father, so he stood straight and tall, his expressionless face looking evenly towards the king.
"I'll have her room prepared by the servants while she receives a tour of the castle." he said this more for Ralife's sake then his fathers but at lest the king would know that Ralife would be seen around here.

[[considering, i think I will just post this and then wait for alice of the abyss to post so she is rather at the same level that we are at]]
Giovanni gave his son a menacingly glare, of course he knew that this girl was his son's bride-to-be, but what he had meant by saying it so absurdly was why her? Compared to his family, though still nobility, this girl seemed almost on the brinks of peasantry in his eyes in comparison.
Through the beliefs of being a proper, well put together man the king said no more aloud about this issue of who this women was. 'At least she is the silent type' he thought to himself, slightly pleased by her lack of words. He strongly believed women shouldn't talk, they were meant to be gazed upon and that was all. Ralife's appearance in general, with a few 'slight' modifications, would also be presumably tolerable in his eyes. Having been the daughter of a mere noble and not of royalty it was no wonder she wasn't as adequate as he would've hoped, 'if only she had come from a neighboring kingdom,' he thought, and then silently sighed in despair.
While Giovanni had been contemplating over Ralife, he had found himself gazing upon her in a inquisitive manner. Once he had brought himself back to reality, it appeared that she was terrified, or at least that was what he thought the expression on her face meant. He then tore his gaze away from her quickly and abruptly put his attention onto his son and his plans.
"No, I don't think that will due at all Howl. Send this- slave," he said, indicating Ange who was still standing behind Ralife, in disgust. "To go up to the mademoiselle's room and prepare it. The other servants and slaves will help him with the location of the lady's necessities," the king had said, just hoping to get the grotesque man out of his sight.
"And as for your future bride, a tour about the castle really is not necessary yet. She has just gotten here, she should get more acquainted with the people first... in fact send her up to my quarters. I shall help her about for the time being," the king said, with a small tint of a glint in his eye. It was not like she was betrothed yet.

Ralife tensed just the slightest. Watching the two men talk. It disturbed her how they talked about her as if she was merely a doll. Another reason she hated royal living. Women were never treated as equals. Glancing behind her while the King spoke she looked at Ange worried. She didn't want him to leave her side. But she couldn't say anything to a king.
When the request for her to be in the King's qaurters were made she pratically screamed with horror in her head. She looked down, trying to search for an escape plan but all she could think of was: "Your majesty, please don't take offense. I am still in my traqveling wear. I am in no condition to be presented to a King" She shot Howl a look. She would of been prepared if she knew the king would be welcoming them himself. If welcoming was the right word.
Her voice was soft and angelic compared to the men. She felt that made her seem fragile. So when her opinions came back. They could sting. but she made no effort to start that yet. She wished to remain alive. Ray could only hope that the king would let her change. But he was known to get what he wanted.

Ange Stared at Giovanni not wanting to be seperated from his beloved master. He looked to Ralife for her to say something on his behalf, however he knew she would not speak up, this, after all, was not her castle in which to speak freely.
He wished he could stay with Ralife and make sure she is comfortable in her new home, not be shiped out to do the work he could easliy do at a later point in the day. He looked back to Giovanni, a terrifying brute of a man that towered over Ange, he held in a tremble out of absolute fear. Ange could honestly say this man intimidated him, but many men of his stature did.

Howl tensed up as his father asked for Ralife to b sent to his quarters. While his didn't mind his father's suggestion for the slave, it was Ralife to whom the slave served so ultimately it was her choice. Unless of course, Howl and his father gave him no choice. Giovanni would do just that, if Howl knew him as well as he thought. Even so, he didn't like the way Giovanni was looking at Ralife and he was becoming slightly possessive of the young woman. He didn't think he could stand the thought of another mans hand on her, his father in particular. He could feel Ralife's eyes on him as she spoke:
"Your majesty, please don't take offense. I am still in my traveling wear. I am in no condition to be presented to a King"
"I'll introduce her to the nobility housed here. After all, we'll have to become accustomed to each others company sooner or later."
Hopefully that was what she was she was looking at him for. He was no mind reader so she'd have to get over it if it wasn't. He expected his father to attempt to berate him, or become angry. Considering the possessive stance he held and his tone as he had spoken, he couldn't expect anything less really. Added to that, if the king was truly determined to get Ralife to himself for a time, he would find a way.

Giovanni took a step more towards Howl, towering over him menacingly. He glared down his nose at him, disturbed by his son's disrespect towards his own father.
"Boy, now do as I say. Escort her up to my quarters and order Penelope and Tarish to dress her appropriately for this castle, and to throw away this garb she is wearing. Then, you leave her to be dressed as you make your rounds informing the staff of our new guest. Go do it. Now," he said venomously, demanding respect and obedience from his son.
Giovanni then turned his glare onto Ange; not even checking if Howl had left yet with Ralife, but for their own sakes they better had. "Slave, go up to your mistress' new chambers in the far end of the third floor hall, when you get their you shall make the bed with sheets that you will find in the wardrobe. You then shall start to clean every nook and cranny of that room, and if you don't complete these tasks you will not be fed tonight. Now go," he hissed, even more venomously to Ange than he had to his son. To this man, or really animal in his eyes, he had no respect at all for. Slaves meant nothing to him.

Ange gulped and nodded, making his way to the staircase, not even tempted to look back at the evil man whom he now lived under.
Ralife's room was relatively easy to find. the wardrobe held finely made sheets in which he made the bed. Looking around he could tell the room hadnt been used in cleaned in a while, he began his work dusting and making sure every speck of dirt was gone from the room after all the king had made it clear his cleaning sould be better then most. Which was how Ange liked to clean anyway.

"Yes, father." Howl said stiffly and led Ralife up the stairs and towards his fathers room. Snapping his fingers towards Penelope and Tarish as an order to join them he glanced at Ralife.
"They will dress you accordingly, let them know of your particular tastes and they will incorporate it into your new wardrobe. Should you have need of anything, the servants will tend to you. My room is just a few doors down from your own should you have need of me." He said as he stopped near his fathers quarters. He brushed his hair aside and glared towards the room then took a breath.
"I will see you this evening, at dinner." He nodded his head before walking off to inform the head servants of Ralife's and her slave presence within the castle. He suddenly grew tense at this sudden position of 'messanger boy' to the castle's occupants.
'I will be king soon enough. And I'll be damned if I am forced to stoop so low. Especially for him, I'll send him away to the edges of the kingdom when the chance shows itself.
