Hey everyone! This is Galvad... obvioustly... anyway! I am thinking it would be fun to make a steampunk comic book, so if anyone has any pointers about how to make a comic book, or has any cool pictures that could inspire different ideas into my head that would be greatly appretiated. Now about your art, I swear I will not take it and say it is mine and put it into an art show or anything, I promise, you can even sign it if you want to lol, I would just like some more ideas runnin around in the noggin before I acually start so! I think the setting is gonna be in the old west and is going to take place on an airship, just so you know if you want. Thanks again everyone!

Any pointers? Well, no Godmodding for starters. I've seen it happen in more than just RPs, and it isn't necesarily good in a story either. But keep in mind, you are the, for lack of a better word, the 'DM' of this story. So, just try something, then let some people read it and then give out pointers. Otherwise, try to find other steampunk books out there to give you ideas. That's all I got. Was this helpful?

Well, if anyone has any characters they'd like to throw in I will just edit out anything that seems excessive, such as being too powerful or having equipment that just doesn't seem to fit with the story. But other than that I guess you can just shoot for the moon if you want lol, just be ready for some of the more extravigent stuff to be dropped, but this does not at all apply to the character's personality, so the character would just act the same, they just may not have that pistol that makes people explode for every bullet

In addition, I have several characters, so antagonists or secondary characters that give the protaganists jobs (the protaganists are freelance kinda mercs. If anyone has seen firefly it's supposed to feel like that but steampunk lol) Also, it's gonna be in the old west so if anyone wants to post some pictures they should be kinda western looking with a steampunk twist biggrin and for history geeks (like myself) this is post Civil War, if anyone has any questions beond what I have covered keep em to yourself. No, JK!!! Please ask! and thanks for all of the help! biggrin

iBaa says: - ✂ - ✂ - ✂ - ✂ - ✂ - ✂ - ✂ - ✂ - ✂ - ✂ - ✂ - ✂ - I don't mean to sound obvious, but you can't create a comic without having a story first. So it would be better if a complete story or some basis of a story is formed first. I'm interested in joining in the creation of this comic, artwise ;3 though I gotta say I'm not at all experienced with comic drawing. ninja

Well, it doesn't really have an over arching story yet, but the style doesn't call for one until a couple books in, it's supposed to be the life of an airship captain and his crew living on the wild frontier, kinda like firefly, and they just want to be free, in the end the bad guy will probably be the United States Government who is trying to impose rules in the west and make it more civilized and the protagonists will probably try to do something about it razz I donno the rest though, but I do have a couple mini plots to keep people occupied until I have the rest of it thought out

"Those who revel in the brilliance of the Sun,"
This is why I started an RP in another guild, is to start a base or guideline for a story I wanted to make. It failed though, due to lack of participation, so now here I am, RPless, and attempting to scour my mind and come up with new Ideas to incorproate into my story. True, almost anything I do will end up using some Idea someone else has already used, but that is to be expected when there is already so much literature out there. Anyways, I try, and now I'm at a stop. I'm working on more of my story, but I'm still in debate on how I am going to continue, so I don't ruin the story before I even hardly start it. I want the readers to want to return for more, and I will have my desire, or just fail alone, without knowing how many readers I may have had once, only to lose them all with one badly written paragraph or a failed plot. Anyways, this comic you are making sounds really nice, and now you are driving me antsy wondering when the release will be. How are you coming along? I know you are still working on ideas and what not, but is it coming along at all? Or are you still in the blueprint stage, so to speak?

Pretty much in the blueprint stage still, I suppose I could post some concept art I have for the characters and some info about all of them (I have all of the character's personalities made, I just have yet to really find a good avi for them in the comic lol) That is another reason why I need some concept art or just pictures from other people because I keep drawing them pretty much the same with just small detail changes and they still don't look right, maybe a new look will help me figure something out... I'll post personalities of the main protagonists soon, maybe that'll help! biggrin I also have some ideas for an overreaching plot, mainly mysteries and conspiracys about how small time crime lords are getting into the government lol, but it's getting there biggrin

That sounds like an interesting Idea, thou iBaa does have a slight point. If you can give us a more detailed scenario, unless what you just gave us is all there is right now, then maybe people could give you better results. But then again, I feel you have given us plenty to work with otherwise, though a tad bit of detail might help iBaa out a little so she can add her work with the twists necessary to really spice up your comic. I haven't lost anyone, have I? Sometimes I over think things a wee bit.

nope, you haven't overthought it at all lol, Ok, so the captain is named Jacob Cobelle, he is originallly from France and helped the Union stratagize againsed the Confederates in the civil war, but he was shocked by Sherman's march to the sea (when general sherman destroyed EVERYTHING for miles and miles) and their starving tactics by blockading the confederates oceanic trade. So he left and used his earnings to buy the airship the 'Treasure' we'll start with him because I have lots of homework I have to work on and I'll post characters later. thanks guys! biggrin

Ok Im not 100% sure that you've started this yet. BUT IF YOU HAVEN'T, before you ever EVER put pen to paper know your story 100% first. Quod erat demonstrandum you must know everything thats going to unfold. If you dont there will be a lot of wasted paper and a ton of tears! Hope this help biggrin
