What is Prototype? Prototype is a fairly recent game for the Xbox360, PS3 and PC, and his develloped by Radical Entertainement, who developped such nefarious games as Bebe's Kid on the SNES and Mario is missing. That enough would lead to think this game is bad, surely? Hell no!

First of, the story. Centered Alex Mercer, and individual almost always claded in his hoodie who happen to know/remember nothing of his existance. I could elaborate on that, but that would be spoiler, and if you think and reasonne like me, I have already said too much. Anyway, Alex is confronted with a viral infection, while escaping the marines and an organisation called BlackWatch. Many character are shown throughout the game, Alex, obviously, his sister Dana, his ex nammed Karen, to name a few. You aren't exactly on any side, military or infected; you have to investigate about you, the infection and some other things you'll need to discover as the story progress. Also, the story is told most of the time by ''flashback'', memorys of other people, more on that later.

The soundtrack, although pretty unoriginal, does it's job well, and fit's the situation, fast paced for battle and tension, more slow for sadness and confusion... The sounds are okay, I like the Shling sound when you're claws comes out ^^. The voice acting is great, not bad, not good, just okay.

On the graphics part, I can't say they're the best, but they're definitly good, I haven't seen much glitch, and every NPC have they're own design. Although, I will admit, some building looks like copy paste of each other.

The gameplay is where I was impressed. The controle are really responsive, and even with a bajillion, litteraly, powers, you can acces any at any time easily, with the shoulder's button menu. With such various powers as Claw, Whip, Hammerfist, Blade (hell yeah!), Gliding/Flying, and assimilation/shapeshifting, you have a lot of way to have and be creative in you're killing. As I talked about the souvenir, earlier, I have to talk about the assimilation, Alex's main power. Basicaly, you absorb one person to take his memorys and knowledge, along with his appareance, wich you can then take. I find it an interesting way to get the story and a good explaination on how you can Hi-Jack tanks and helicopter with little to no knowledge (You HAVE to assimilate certain type of unit to gain those knoledge, like assimiling Pilots make you able to control tank and hellicopter, commandant gives you more artilleries fire, soldier more gun skills.). You gain ability by either absorbing people, or by spending EP, evolution point, witch are granted to you when doing certain task, events, missions, or simpy killing ennemy.

There's quite a bit of replay value, when you want to get every achievement/trophy, and a few things to get here and there. There's also a replay mode with every ability you've unlocked, so it can be fun to try again being more armed and all. You can try missions and boss with other tactics you couldn't before, for exemple.

The difficulty is varying, when not on mission, you'll feel OVERPOWER, but in mission, prepare to be brutalised A LOT on certain mission, especialy if you don't have the right ability at certain spot, and believe, one ability can change a LOT of thing in battle, sometime.

In conclusion, sure it's not the perfect game ever, but I personaly have a lot of fun with this game, not only you have lots and lots of cool abilitys an can do lots of nice stunts, you have fun mini-missions, event and things to play with. You can take tanks and helicopter, or pick up a gun and go Rambo on everyone and everything in sight. I love to fly around, bouncing on appartment and killing infested nest or infiltring base.

I would definitly recommande to at least have a look at it, not nesseceraly buying it, but maybee rentig it or ask a friend if someone you know have it, I guarante you'll find something you'll have fun with. I honestly didn't had lots of expectation with this game, but god was I pleasently surprised. After all, isn't the main goal of a video game to be fun? That one sure is.
