Given the first post you made here, I'd have to say the problem's definitely not lack of availability of information, but rather the opposite. In that case, I'd recommend taking it slowly - pick up one small chunk at a time and learn it. There's nothing that says you NEED to know everything right now - if that was true, I'd not be a Buddhist for sure, because there's no way I do.
xd Let's see...practice? Put the
Noble Eightfold Path into your daily life. Live the
Ten Perfections as best you can, keeping in mind they're perfections, and it takes a lot to manifest even one - but if you can do one, the rest follow. Abiding by the
Five Lay Precepts can help a lot.
Give
meditation a shot. I'd recommend picking up a fairly easy type at first. Breathing meditation is probably a good place to start. It helps with concentration.
For the sects, I think the best bet locally would be the sticky in the main forum, to be honest. It explains things rather well. If you have questions about specific sects and practices, feel free to post in there - I'm sure that, between the members of different schools/sects and our combined resources, we can answer it.
