EVOLVE Wrestling, a new group based in the Northeast, launched it's website this morning. The group is a collaboration between Sal Hamaoui, Davey Richards and Gabe Sapolsky. The current plan is to run shows on Dragon Gate USA's off months featuring a "worked shoot" style of professional wrestling, like an Americanized version of Japan's UWFi group that ran in the early 90's.

No date has been announced, but talent should be announced soon.

The site can be accessed by going to www.evolvewrestling.com.

Roster Almost Completed

EVOLVE is in the final stages of completing its roster for the January 16th debut in Rahway, NJ. We now know that the main event will be a dream match pitting Davey Richards vs. Kota Ibushi. This will be worth the price of admission alone. However, EVOLVE's goal is not to be a dream match promotion.

EVOLVE officials have thoroughly scouted the independent scene in both the United States and Japan. EVOLVE has sought out talented athletes with skill, heart and the hunger to shine on a bigger stage. EVOLVE will assemble the new generation on January 16th and cut them loose to see who is the very best. This will be a night of fresh faces and new stars.
A recent example of this was the first bonus match on the 11/28 DGUSA event. Kyle O'Reilly and Adam Cole both entered the ring as relative unknowns. They battled back-and-forth in an exciting bout that won over the hard-to-please Philly faithful. Another example was the Jeff Peterson Memorial Cup a few weeks ago in Florida. 16 relatively untapped talents competed in a memorable, hard-fought weekend tournament and proved that if given the spotlight, they will shine.

EVOLVE will have some independent veterans. It will present some of the best talent going today. It will feature some names that you know. However, the fun will come with the new generation of hungry, talented and unique athletes that are ready for this opportunity. We hope you will approach EVOLVE with an open mind and give these young men a chance. The rewards will follow.

EVOLVE Divisions

There are three divisions for EVOLVE competitors. They are:

1) Official Singles Division: These wrestlers will concentrate on singles matches. All bouts between official wrestlers will count towards their record. Competitors become "official" either by invitation from the EVOLVE board of directors or by winning a qualifying match (see #3).

2) Official Tag Team Division: Tag teams become "official" either by invitation from the EVOLVE board of directors or by winning a qualifying match. An official team must register as a regular tag team. There will be no makeshift or random tag teams in EVOLVE. A trio can register as a tag team and select two competitors for a match. The trio can also compete in six man tag team matches. All matches between official teams will count towards their record. This means that both regular and six man tag team matches can count towards records. Note: Substitutions can be made in the event of injury to prevent wrestlers from having to rush back early from injury.

3) Qualifying Match: This can be any type of bout, including, but not limited to multi-man matches such as four-ways or various types of tag team bouts. A qualifying match will include competitors trying to earn their way into one of the official divisions. The results of this match will not count towards records.

I will defiantly be picking up the first DVD. Anything Gabe Sapolsky dips his fingers in is gold.
