We end up turning down a lot of very solid character concepts because they are just simply to bland or lack that special something. Please don't take it as an insult! It doesn't mean we don't like your character! We just KNOW you can do better! mrgreen
Here are a few tips:
-Add some flaws. And I don't mean "I have a dead family" (that is done to death- pardon the pun.) The downsides are more fun to play than the good sides!
-Don't get along with people. Find SOMETHING to clash over. Even if it's something fundamental. Make a personality or take a stance other people may not agree with!
-Play something outside the norm! I can tell the VAST majority of people's characters are this in a nutshell. [Age 10-15, Leaf/Mist, Dead Family, Normal Lifestyle, in a Clan- often last survivor, best in the class]. People will change a few of those, but basically that's what everyone plays. The MOST fun I EVER had was playing a 60 year old.
-Find something you like and know a lot about in real life. Some hobby. Something not a lot of people like to do if you have one of those. Then use it to theme your character.
-Theme is the most important part of your character! (Outside of archetype but we won't get into that) Find a key word, a subject, or phrase. (See the previous suggestion) Then "theme" your entire character around it!
Example:
Lets take Shino. Shino is bug themed. Bugs are "creepy" generally so he is a kind of too. Bugs don't talk, so he is a quiet person. He has a a slightly bug-like appearance. (Sheltered face, black eyes, ect)
-Your theme reflects the core of your "Character Concept". Everything you make should reflect that. In or Shino example all of his jutsu are bug-themed. If your character was... ham-sandwich themed, I would expect to see ham-sandwich themed jutsu. mrgreen
