the first spork was supposedly made by one General MacArthur (not sure if thats how its spelt) in japan after WW2. he didnt think using chop sticks was civalised, but he didnt trust them enough to give them knives and forks. he thought that they would probably attack the americans who were there. and so he invented the spork. but i have heard that the original concept of the spork goes back much further than that.
