What kind of fun or beautiful things are going on in your area for the holidays? A parade? Extra-cool lighting in town or in an area? Festivals? Tell us about it here! biggrin

Downtown Greenville always has tons of lights all over Main Street. Its a great place to hang out.
You've also got the Roper Mountain Lights at the Science Center/Planetarium. Pretty cool to visit.
Over in Greer almost in Spartanburg area, you have Hollywild. They have a lot of interesting animals and stuff to see up there as well.
Finally in Easley, just off the 124, you've got the lights at the Greenville/Pickens Speedway. Very bright and cool.

Awesome. I haven't been down that way in years. smile Mebane, NC has a Christmas Parade every year--a NIGHT parade, with all the floats and some of the people all lit up! xd It's a big, LONG parade, too! Groups come from all over the area to participate! Sadly, I missed it this year. It's always at the beginning of December.
Has anybody done the Biltmore Christmas? I've always wanted to do that!

System.out.print(" The Christmas parades were a while ago for Raleigh and Cary. In high school I marched in them, but sadly the college band doesn't do anything like that... The Mebane parade sounds really cool, though~ Oh, and do you know what's sad about the Raleigh parade? They charge people to do it now, so my high school had to change and do the Cary one instead. Apparently the parade was getting too big...
I did the Biltmore Christmas a couple years ago. It was interesting for a bit, but as a young, fairly ADD person I tended to get bored quickly... It didn't help that my sister is even younger and more ADD than me. Plus, I was more interested in how the house was built than all the art in it >>; <<; *engineer head* It was pretty cool, though, and my parents certainly seemed to appreciate it more.

I wish Dad would take Mom there, but he's stubborn and he says it costs too much. sad Mom would love to go.
Here's a great NC Christmas thing--FRUITCAKE! Before you barf, let me tell you these people actually make AWESOME fruitcake! It isn't junky mass-market cake, it's a family-run business. They've been growing by word of mouth for years, and they get orders all over the world now for their rich, moist fruitcakes! I HATE fruitcake, but even I think theirs is delicious! They give out samples in their store. SO--if anybody's family insists on a fruitcake, tell 'em to get one from here: SOUTHERN SUPREME! They have a store way out in the middle of nowhere kind of south of Greensboro and SW of Pittsboro, but you can also order online. And this year the big gourmet grocery in Chapel Hill, A SOUTHERN SEASON, is carrying their fruitcakes also, although it may be only in the store since Southern Supreme has their own online store. But if you live around there, you can go over to University Mall and pick one up! biggrin
