Konata had woken early and was on the road again. She had been searching for years now and she had still yet to find the white purple and blue Cheetah that she had been seeking all this time. She got frustrated most days, but she could feel it in her heart that the cheetah she was looking for was out there somewhere.
Kona came over the crest of a hill and spotted a river running through the valley below her. The serval hadn't realized how thirsty she was until she spotted the water running below her, she smiled and with a light step began to head in the direction of the water.

She didn't notice if there was any other creatures in the area which was odd for her, as she was searching for someone out her. She hoped that the cheetah she was looking for looked similar to what she remembered. She reached the waters edge and bowed her head down, take in long mouth fulls of water.

The sky looked like a grass fire had burned its edges, browns and reds seeping into the emerging blue of the morning. Several clouds dotted the horizon. They seemed fragile compared to the harsh wind blowing across the Savannah. The wind drove Dabiku into a nearby valley, where the crest of a hill took most of the wind's brute force. She shook her head. It felt good to be awake so early in the morning, but she had yet to find any prey. Perhaps another hunter or huntress had already scourged the lands and startled the prey into flight before Dabiku had arrived.
A river bubbled through the center of the valley, its clear sides contrasting with the muddy sentiment visible beneath its rushing surface. Dabiku approached it cautiously. Her ears twitched left and right. No sounds of other predators reached her. Her paws met the river's edge, pressed against smooth stones, and her heart nearly poured out with happiness. Rivers could be hard to find for a traveling rogue. They meant life, respite from the harsh cruelty of living without a pride.

She bent her head at the river's edge, her maw immediately soaked by the rushing current. The water felt smooth against her tongue. Dabiku had barely began to drink when light pawsteps scattered pebbles from the nearby hill. Her ears twisted toward the sounds. Her travels had taught her several things about rivers: their scarcity and their value. She hadn't eaten that morning; she didn't desire a battle over drinking privileges.

Dabiku hurriedly backed away from the river, instead taking shelter behind a tall tree. The tree's ancient trunk hid her mostly from view. She hoped her markings would blend with the thick grass surrounding the river's edge. The newcomer might smell her scent, she knew, but at least she could get a good look at the animal first. Hopefully it was prey. Dabiku was thirsty enough to startle it away, but not enough to face a fellow lion in battle.

Kona hadn't seen the lioness scurry behind the tree as she came down the hillside into the valley. The morning hadn't gotten too hot for the little serval yet but she liked to start the day with a cool drink and a bath if time allowed for it.
She dipped her head to the cool water, taking long gulps of water in, feeling the wonderful refreshing liquid move through her. As she drank the scent of the other caught her nose, she looked around quickly. She didn't see the lion but instead she continued to spin in a circle looking for who was near to her.
