I heard that further chapters of the Dawn are to be published next year, and will be released as an OVA in 2011. Firstly, can anyone provide proof of this, or is this just rumor?
So, now on to discussion:
What would you like to see in The Dawn? What would you like explained or elaborated upon?

I have no idea if it's true or not, but I'd personally like to see a little more of Rip Van. Maybe some Dok in there... experimenting with kittens! A young Zorin would be nice to see, too, before all the tattoos. And some lovely mobile coffin goofiness!

As much as I appreciate the additional activity, I've already made a similar thread here. That being said, I'd like to see whether or not Alucard released Level Zero in 1944. The Major implies in Volumes 9 and 10 that he did, and that that was when he realized that the vampire's greatest strength is also its greatest weakness. That was when his admiration and envy of Alucard turned into disgust and hatred. That was when he decided that he could never become a vampire.

I think I'm not up to date with Dawn, so sorry if this doesn't make sense. (Is chapter 6 the latest or does it go further?)
I'd like to see if there is foreshadowing (backshadowing?) with Walter.
Hmm...and if the Major is skinny. But I doubt it.
I'm glad to see the Captain's featured!
@Scaramouche: Dok experimenting with kittens would be great, and it took me a moment to get that. xd

Aeronn I think I'm not up to date with Dawn, so sorry if this doesn't make sense. (Is chapter 6 the latest or does it go further?) Chapter 6 is as far as it goes at this point in time. Aeronn I'd like to see if there is foreshadowing (backshadowing?) with Walter. There is, in a way. When the Major proposes that Walter join Millennium, he narrows his eyes suspiciously. He responds with an insult, but he doesn't reject him. Aeronn Hmm...and if the Major is skinny. But I doubt it. He's not. He's only skinny in Coyote, and that's not technically him.

According to this ad from the latest issue of YKO, The Dawn is going to be adapted as a feature-length film! It says that the film will be based on an "original story written by Kouta Hirano," but it doesn't elaborate on how. I doubt that Hirano will be going back to The Dawn any time soon, now that Drifters is finally beginning to pick up steam, so I don't think that the film will be based on a completed work. My guess is that Hirano will simply write the story and allow the OVA production team to draw and animate it. On way or another, The Dawn will finally be completed. That, my friends, is awesome.

Mmmm, I'd be real surprised if any part of Hellsing, Dawn or otherwise, saw life as a film. It would be neat, but all I've ever heard are rumors of one focusing on Seras and now this false one. In the end, it's a rare anime that gets further screen time.
The Eva fan community too is plagued by on-again, off-again rumors of a live action film, though we've had several anime films.

Good news, everyone!
It seems that the Limited Edition release of OVA VIII will indeed include an animated version of The Dawn, and that the 12 page booklet that usually accompanies the LE release (which we don't get with the American release) will include 4 pages of the author's manuscript. Whether that means that it only took Hirano 4 pages to finish The Dawn, or that only 4 pages of the finished manuscript will be included is unclear. Now before you go getting overly excited, it is said that The Dawn is a "petit-anime," meaning it's probably shorter than the OVA episode itself (20 minutes, maybe a little more).
