Mission Briefing:
The Brotherhood has been paid to help out a settlement in the wasteland called Bright Sun. The problem is a gang of cannibal hunters that call themselves the Tormentors. Apparently, they have a history of traveling across the country, praying on defenseless settlements. They are infamous not for simply praying on the towns though, but for brutally slaughtering the residents then using the bodies to make several strange meat dishes out of the human flesh. They eat and sell to the ignorant and desperate for cheap prices. They also leave their mark somewhere in every structure they commit a slaughter in. Their mark/symbol is a black circle with a line striking through it starting just outside the top left corner and striking all the way down through to the bottom right corner. The settlers said they would pay in caps as well as spare parts for weapons and whatever ammo they could pool.

The settlement Bright Sun had about sixty to seventy people living in it, although now that the Hunters have increased their nightly 'visits' to pretty much every night of the week the population has dropped down to maybe forty to fifty people left. The settlers desperately tried to organize a town watch but the hunters have the town watch out manned and out gunned. Most people just hide in their house and hope they aren't next. So far no one has survived any of the home invasions as they are well executed and always in the middle of a dark night. The settlement has a thin wall of scrap metal that stands at about twelve feet and makes a square around the perimeter of the settlement with four spots about 20 feet long that are just open. The town has a group of wastelanders who form an unofficial council to help decide on what's best for the settlement. The Town Watch is made up of twenty brave settlers armed with things from cheap hunting rifles to simple .9 mm pistols. They used to patrol the city but gave up after losing so many watchers to the merciless gang. The settlement itself is in the center of a flat desert-like circle and is about twenty miles away from cliffs that surround them on all sides.

Judging by several eye witness accounts of people who have seen the gang traveling or selling their meat they have about thirty to forty people in the gang overall, although only about ten of them have any real skill with a weapon. Noone really knows who their leader is and it doesn't really concern us right now. They usually wear whatever armor they can find and fight with the weapons they get from the families and caravan they kill. They are not hostile when spotted during the day as that is when they sell their meat but it would be hard to directly attack them during the day as they stick together and make sure to keep all eyes open for anything suspicious.

The plan is to send two teams of three brotherhood soldiers (or one team of four) into the city during the day when the gang isn't paying much attention to the town and have them wait until night when they will watch for the hunters. As soon as the team of hunters enter the town one team of our soldiers will set up an ambush and wait for them to begin a home invasion (sacrifices are necessary) while the other continues to keep their eyes open for anything suspicious as well as any more hunters. During the home invasion while bullets are still flying, the ambush team will burst in and slaughter the hunters. To infuriate the rest of the gang, the heads of the group of hunters that had been ambush will be put on spears to display outside the town. Not knowing the brotherhood was involved in any way, they will most likely launch a full on assault, determined to get revenge and knowing they are more powerful than the settlers. If they don't, we will continue praying on their hunters and repeating the ambush process until they do. Once they have launched their assault, the town watch plus both brotherhood teams will hold the line until a vertibird drops off a well armed assault squad. This squad of troops will come up from behind the hunters and with bullets flying at them from both sides, they will most likely be slaughtered quickly. Also, the vertibird will continue to hover above the battle with one gunman in it firing down on any hunters that try to escape.

Positions I Need Filled:

Ambush Team 1: XcoldhandsX, Savoki Sanoci, DGwar

Ambush Team 2: MidniteCrusaider, Millenium Joker, Warboss 300
(If not enough people sign up I will collapse the ambush teams into one team of four.)

Assault Squad:
Vertibird Pilot: Breenlander

Vertibird Gunman: Gigant Abrax

Vertibird Gunman: LeonDecimus

Ground Troops: [minimum five/max twelve] (not enough people)

Rules:
1. Be an advanced roleplayer, don't godmodd, metagame, powerplay, etc etc.
2. Ammo is limited.
3. This mission is canon so don't fool around and get yourself (or worse, a teammate) shot.
4. Obviously, the weapons and other equipment you posted for your character are what you will use in this RP.
5. Remember not to be a 'hero'. If we work together on this everything should run smoothly.

(thanks to Joker for helping me come up with and refine this mission)

Zarek sat uncomfortably in an old wooden chair, taking in a deep breath of the dusty wasteland smell that seemed to penetrate every shelter. He hated stake-outs, waiting in general irritated him. He wanted to be out doing something, helping someone somewhere but instead he and some of the other brotherhood soldiers were simply waiting...waiting for a wastelander to burst in the door and tell us where the hunters are. He sighed, this impatience was probably a simple result of his inexperience in the brotherhood and the fact that this was really his first mission. He had done simple scouting trips in the wasteland before but this was the only real thing he had been a part of and he was determined to do his best, to be efficient and get the job done. He shifted uncomfortably in his seat, the leather armor was in no way comfortable, but he assumed it was much more comfortable than power armor was. Closing his eyes, he yawned softly, listening for either the voice of either of the other people in the team or the sound of a wastelander, ready to end his boredom.

Falx Draconus
Brotherhood Initiate.
Mission Preparation.

Falx sat on his bed, his weapons laid out in indivdual components. The little bit of CLP he had scavenged from Fort Independance was begining to run low. He still had to clean the minigun that would be mounted to the vertibird. He coated a corner of the rag in the solution. First he cleaned the sidearm thoroughly, before assembling it methodically. The weapon was clean enough to eat off of before he slid a loaded magazine into the well and pulled the slide back, chambering the a round. Falx clicked the safety on and placed the pistol to the side, on his desk.

The long hunting rifle he had fitted a reflex right to, was next. While all of his weapons were plenty clean as he cleaned them after every mission, he always cleaned them again. He pushed the brush at the end of the steel rod into the bore of the trusted weapon. Pride, he had named her. He needed something to cling to once his father, Weylon died. So he invented a persona for the rifle. It was perculiar, but what wasn't in the wasteland?
He slid the clean bolt into the rifle and put it back together. Within moments Pride was fully assembled, loaded with is custom 20 round magazine. It had taken many different trial and error to create the magazines, however after some studying of the springs and some light soldering, it was a sucess.

The Beneli Silverhawk, glistened with a fresh coat of oil as he reassembled the combat shotgun. The weapon had been modified, much through Falx's own toil, to accept 12 round drums. The only problem was finding the drums. Falx had only been able to find and procure only five of the elusive drums. In short order the weapon was fully assembled and placed on the desk with his other two weapons. Standing up Falx hefted the large minigun and let it down with a plop onto his bed. While Falx was naught but an initiate, he was lucky enough to be blessed with his own private room. Though he moved elsewhere. Most other initiates were in the general vicinity of the main operations. Falx enjoyed his privacy immensely. He even took to errecting a small shack in the very corner of the base. He wasn't very sociable. It was definately better that he be alone.

The hardened man began the cleaning of the large machine of war, that he had only checked out from the armory today. The weapon would be in pristine condition for the operation ahead. He had one chance of a first impression.

Joker sat on the top bed of a child's bunk-bed set, a demented smile plastered on his face as he thought of the hunters he'd heard of. Not only were these men to be his next targets, but... well, he had to admit, their work was an art form after his own heart.Killing people from the SAME settlement to cut up for meat, and selling whatever you didn't eat!? GENIUS!

Checking his Pancor Jackhammer for any malfunctions, he was satisfied to see the beautiful instrument of death was well-oiled and already had a shell in the chamber.

He was waiting for the signal... as was everyone else.

THIS... was gonna be fun.

Callum O'Donnalds
Brotherhood Initiate
Waiting...

Callum leant against a dusty wall, his arms folded and eyes closed tight. His left eye gave a faint green glow as its bionics went into standby. He was in deep thought about what lay ahead. This was his first proper mission, along with some other guys. His AK-47 was proped against the wall,in arms reach and he'd convincd himself he would be ok.But that wasn't really enough...
Cannibals?...Jeeze.I thought id seen sommit bad.
The silence wasn't helping either. The anticipation...or was it boredom?...was palpable. As ready as he ever was,he waited.

Cartagan walked into a small room, finding what he was looking for. The wait from this mission was killing him, the beasts calling themselves people were long overdue to be put down. He returned his attention to his prey, and Spoke with an edge. "After your own heart, these people. Is that not true Jokes? Its funny we would be put together on this mission." He tightend his fists, but kept them obviously away from his weapons "Aruil might be gone But I'm still standing here. I will tell you this once more boy, If I see another act like you pulled on our last mission you might not make it back to base for your trial, and don't deny the fact of your trial. If your going to act like an animal I'll have you put down like an animal, this I swear to you."

"I dont know any of the people here 'cept Dante, So I dont expect any support on this, But on my honor I swear it..." He relaxed as he exhaled.

Cartagan turned around and checked the safety on the majority of his weapons. both handguns were kept with safety on at all times when not drawn, But he checked them both anyway. They were held left on belt and right on thy and rode well, both were exactly as he expected them to be. the back mounted Pancor and AK were set but ready for use at a moments notice, he mentally checked over the packed ammo, reassuring his count. Then he check over his shouldered Sniper, a beautiful piece of work. He had been training with it non stop to become a better shot, and with his melee prowess it suited him well. 'When I get back to base Ima have to modify the stock, If I could use this to parry and hit without worry of damage it would be perfect.' He thought to himself.

Lying on his back and suspending the area from the back of his chest to his head in midair upside down, Joker looked at Cartagan with a sadistic yet pleased grin, hair swishing with the movement.

"Oh, please, Cartagan- don't lump me in with these animals. I'll admit to not having reservations about human flesh consumption, but they don't even have fun or make an art form of the kills. To them, it's just business, no pleasure whatsoever. Now, if you can't have fun on the job, ESPECIALLY IN THIS DAY AND AGE, where CAN you have fun? Come on..... don't lie to me. I know there's a part of you that wants to see these bastards in pain and dying slowly for the s**t they've pulled here."

Turning so he was upright once more, his legs propped up against the wall, he said in a hushed voice-
"Come on. I promise that if I hold myself back this time, I'll look the other way when you inevitably fly off the handle and carve some jackass up like a brahmin roast. Come now.... Joe's gone... but it doesn't mean we can't have fun! He was a good guy, a good leader, but we have to move on, Ancient. Yeah, that's your new name from now on. Ancient." he said with a happy-go-lucky grin.

"...I swear it." Cartagan finished. At that moment in a shimmer of electicity, Dante disabled his stealthboy in the middle of the room. He listened to Joker ramble on and then added in, "Joker may have to stand before trial, but you would do well to remember that we are a team and will work better without starting off the mission in a negitive manner. Joker, I will be keeping an eye on you. Please do not dissapoint me." He would hate to have to deal with two on edge soldiers. He knew Joker was sadistic, but he was a good soldier for the most part. Dante looked forward to some new action. Since his legs had been replaced he hadn't done much in the sense of combat. This was going to be very interesting.

"Thats Mister Ancient to you boy. and the day I 'fly off the handle' is the day the Brotherhood no longer needs me. It will be the day I have nothing left to live for."
He sighed and switched his stance to face Dante. "I -am- well aware of this Sir, But I overlooked his brutality once. I told him then what would happen next time. I am being honest with him, and I think that even he deserves to know my intentions based on his actions. its more than I would give my enemies..."

"Joker, I will be keeping an eye on you. Please do not disappoint me."

"Aye, you won't have to worry about that, Sir. I figure, in and out, we demolish them quick and they won't have time to think. 2 Assault squads on this mission, we hit them from the front and rear, we're good to go- minimal casualties on our side, but they get wiped out. Use Vertibird support to take out any stragglers. And don't worry sir, I heard about the incident with the Raider and the Vertibird.... I would just like to extend my condolences to you and add the fact that Bren is not going to be in charge of the areal guns on this excursion, sir." said Joker, his expression sobering up as Dante spoke.

"Thats Mister Ancient to you boy."

"You know, MISTER Ancient, I don't really think I'll be a problem this time around, thank the Heavens. Take a look."
said Joker, pointing with his fingers and gesturing to the latest recruit the brotherhood had to offer- Callum.

"New Meat looks about ready to coat the walls in puke, he's so nervous."
he said with a laugh.

"new...?" He looked over at Callum in his near fetal sitting. "...Ah." Cartagan walked over to the initiate Not knowing his name, gave him a light thump on the head. "hey there, laddie? If you stay all tense now your muscles are going to stay cramped and you'll pay for it when the fighting starts. no need to be so worried. its a couple of animals with guns. stay low, shoot straight and check your targets, you should be fine."

"Yeah!" said Joker from the bunks. "The only real fear you have to worry about on this mission is seeing a naked Super Mutant or having Bren shoot you. And since he's not on gunner duty, I guess all you have to worry about is the whole.... Mutant..... thing...... Ugh...." he said with a visible shudder, remembering the time back in the Enclave that he stumbled upon a collective of Super Mutants who seemed to think it would be more fitting to be a force of power and fear by not wearing armor.... or any clothing for that matter.

"Trust me, even though they don't have anything down there, it doesn't exactly mean it's a pretty sight. FEV wrecks the body, but there are some things that you just question if they came straight from Hell or not. Super Mutant crotches are one of them." he said, on the verge or retching.

3....2....1...

And there we go.

Searching for something- ANYTHING nearby, Joker could barely contain the taste of vomit in his mouth as he found a nearby footlocker. Springing from the bed with a desperate leap, Joker forced open the locker and upended the contents of his stomach all over the insides of the trunk.

"Ugh.... yeah, this breakfast here looks better than mutant crotch. Let's just say....ugh.... let's just say.... it'd be more... more merciful to just put a.... ugh.... a bullet in your skull."
he said, mouth coated with vomit, his breath smelling like fresh bile. A year later, and he still couldn't get that horrifying image out of his mind.
PostPosted: Sun Dec 20, 2009 3:18 am

".... And.. No, Im not even going to ask..." Cartagan looked out the room "I suggest you move your trunk before it makes the smell of the room unbearable."

Arguements...I hate arguments.
Callum didn't wan't to get involved in this conversation. He didnt really know anyone on the team that well.He was interuptted from his musings by one of the sqad members,it seemed the conversation had switched to him.Callum opened his eyes to see who disturbed him,his bionic eye lighting up again as it rebooted.
"Meh,allright."
He replied as he shifted his position leaning on the wall.
"Its just...cannibals?.Who the hell does that."
