A small farming community outside of Barton has repeatedly been attacked by monsters, and people have been afraid to leave their houses. Clan help is requested in defending the small village so that the people can evacuate safely.

Vic sighed and looked at the increasingly nervous Gambino representative standing off towards the center of the village. She was patrolling the outskirts, making sure that nothing befell the villagers before the Clan showed up. And they were taking their sweet bloody time about it. Vicatia didn't know how long she and her small squad could stay here. The GSF was having some trouble with the recent monster outbreaks and needed all of the men they could get, but Vic had wanted to do this, and it wasn't safe to travel alone after the appearance of the monsters.

The representative puttering around in the village square was a portly gentleman in a fine velvet suit. He was organizing the evacuees into able-bodied men and women and children, occasionally making a token effort to help someone pack their things. Most of the houses were boarded up at this point, and the men had gathered pitchforks and knives and other such common weapons. They were steadfast in their decision to forsake their homes, but they were all afraid of the monsters that could be anywhere. Those people would be much happier once a clan showed up to take her place.

Vic stopped her patrolling to help board up one last house, and glanced over to where the Gambino man was still fussing. There was another one who would be glad when the Clan arrived and this entire ordeal was over and done with. It was a good long walk to Barton from here.

The Clan was aware that it was indeed taking a while, and was making its way now as fast as tehy could. Things would have been much more prompt, but there was an ugly incident down the road involving an old woman, a cat, three goats, and an extremely large egg that did not need recounting at the time, since they were already behind.

Lumitae was marching briskly down the road, followed by his cohorts and brothers, sisters, and other relatives in arms. Well, to be mjore exact, Lumitae was followed by three people, who would have represented one from each group had they been related to him at all.

However, before they could really ebgin in earnest, tehy DID need to find out what exactly was happenng, and to do this, they needed to talk to whomever was in charge. Standing in the middle of the village now, Lumitae looked for likely suspects, but what with the way everyone was milling about, it was practically near impossible to decide which random person would be the one to speak too. Still, the presence of four armed and dangerous looking individuals would most likely attract attention, and they would come to him no doubt, so instead of searching, he turned to his followers.

"Well, guess we wait and observe for the moment. Let's get a grasp on the situation, and then we can decide how to deal with the monsters. But to be on the safe side... Don't peace knot your weapons." He smiled, knowing full well that none of them would have done so in the first place.

Kharan's eyes swept over the little village. Things were indeed in a pitiful state. People fleeing their homes crowded in the center of town while a few, far fewer than Kharan might have liked, held makeshift weapons, prepared for the worst. The looks on their faces made Kharan smile slightly. So fearful, yet there they stand with weapons as if to hold off the raving hoards that would assault the town. How many would throw down their weapons at the first sight of the monsters, Kharan wondered. Very few. With their wives and children fleeing, the men would hold out far better than their meager skill would otherwise madate.

However, it made little difference. They had requested the aid of the Life Clan and had received it. Life would deal with the monsters well enough. Her fellows all were able-bodies and would smash the lines while she fired death above them.

Lumitae had ordered them to stay alert (which had been highly unneccesary. Eradiel was rarely not alert, Ignacio Kharan suspected of knowing this fact already, and her magical gaze was already sureying the area) and to begin investigating. Kharan picked out a few major targets to speak with. One was the well dressed man in the center of town and another seemed like the captain of the soldiers.

"Do we start with the man from Gambino or the guard captain?" Kharan wore her normal travelling clothes, but had also put on a pair of dark glasses. For some reason, her glowing irises when she used Vision tended to unnerve people. When she used Clairvoyance and her eyes turned completely golden, it seemed to worry them even more. So out of consideration for these peasants, she had donned the glasses to hide her eyes. This isn't to say her magic wasn't active, of course. She was simply hiding the visible signs from the villagers.

((As a note, from this point on, Kharan has Clairvoyance running, which makes it easier to tell when people are lying or deceiving her or what they're feeling))

A woman who could only be described as warm and thick strode confidently towards the newly arrived Clan members, the one whom Kharan had referred to as the "guard captain." She walked with a long spear and always seemed to be aware of the armed men patrolling the perimeter. Those fellows weren't going to slack off just because some hotshot Clanners had decided to finally show up. However the dark, stocky woman seemed not to share their disdain.

"Greet'ns, gents." Her voice carried the farm accent of West Barton country. "I'm Vic, GSF officer and pleased to make your collective acquaintances." Her grin encompassed them all as she continued. "Don't worry, not movin' in on your job, or any such. Just holdin' down the fort till you gents arrived, and I and my boys are just gonna let you folks take it from here." Then she looked back towards the pudgy man in the town square and jabbed a thumb over her shoulder towards him. "Oh yeah, Short and Pudgy wants to have a word with you gents, and then, if it's all the same to you, I an' my boys will just head out."

She paused to rebind her dark hair behind her head. "These people need your protection, folks. I sure hope you can give it to 'em."
