So, my partner has this quite close friend. Whom he hasn't seen in a while because he's been in hospital other reasons etc.
So, the other day we see him, for him to turn around to my partner and say that "C'mon man, you know it is all about her(being me) why you haven't seen me for so long, she isn't good for you, just ditch her and we can hang out."

So, my reaction is to just turn around to him and delicately tell him "Are you sure it's me, would you bet your life on the fact I am so wrong for him. Did you ever think to look at what you make him do, and then wonder why he doesn't see you?"
and turned on my heel and walked away.

Personally I think I handled it quite well, but how would you of handled it, if you were in my shoes?

inb4 yes the partner told him where to shove it etc etc.

It seemed you made your point, but i didnt see why you had to walk out. Anger? Just to make a point? Only you know. But if i where in your shoes i would have done everything the same but not walk outside the room only to justify and false claims and such.

But all that matters is the final product of your actions.

It seemed you made your point, but i didnt see why you had to walk out. Anger? Just to make a point? Only you know. But if i where in your shoes i would have done everything the same but not walk outside the room only to justify and false claims and such.

I never said I walked out.
I just walked away to another section of the store, because I didn't feel the need to be in his horrid company any more. I don't enjoy being around douchebags.

So I left that sort of company.

I think you handled it swimmingly my dear.

I probably would have shrugged it off and just act quiet for a while. Or depending on the mood i'm in i could go completely off the handle and freak out at him.

And if someone said that to you while i was around it would be even more so. I got your back. whee

I'm very protective of my friends. lol If someone insults me i shrug it off for the most part. Someone insults a friend of mine i'll hold a grudge on them and hate them till the day i die.

I think you handled it in a pretty classy way. Obviously, if someone says something that rude about you in front of you, it's impossible to just stand there and not respond. And quite frankly, I think that a comment of that nature needs to be responded to.

I would have walked away as well. There's no need for you to stay around someone like that for any longer than is necessary. Hopefully that comment was the end of it and he won't entertain ideas like that anymore.
