So, this is the first of (hopefully) several short missions available for grabs, the format is a small number of people for a single-location trial of wits, strength and Steel. Easier to track, this example will feature two steel members in-character and myself as architect, laying down challenges. If all goes well, I'll refine the process and keep going with more.

Please note: This mission is a trial of wits and tactical ability so your ranged weaponry will be limited to sidearms (small guns of initiate-rank only) and an insubstantial amount of ammo, the same principle applies to melee weapons. This is supposed to require careful thought rather than just laying down the lead.

* * *

It was supposed to be a routine search and retrieve, a pre-war weapons cache had been found and a flatbed dispatched along with a 'tech to break through the electronic locking mechanism and a small selection of soldiers to aid in the retrieval and guard the found technology in transfer back to the base. It was all going fine until late noon as the sun dipped to the horizon; the cache had been opened and the equipment dismantled and salvaged leaving nothing behind but a large underground block of hollow concrete. Even the doors and locks had been dismantled and loaded, no sense letting good tech go to waste guarding nothing at all. The final sweep of the perimeter was when it happened, you two had been sent to pick up the motion sensors set up in a circle around the operation as an early-warning system and had almost finished with the flatbed and small hillock that housed te entrance was in sight when the sound of gunfire rattled out ahead of you. The flatbed was under assault by a massive swarm of mole rats, and then in the background with the quick use of field binoculars the forms of several humanoids driving the frenzied rodents onwards. Your comms crackled to life as the HMG mounted on the flatbed's cabin roof shot tongues of flame into the darkening air and the engine gunned loudly, obscuring the message as the whole team laid down suppressing fire. "Perimeter team, were are. . . heavy. . . lines broken. . . withdrawing. . . preserve technology. We will. . . for you tomorrow. . . sunrise. . . full platoon. . . try to hold. . . the assault until. . . structure shown. . . really defensible but. . . suffice. Co-ordinates. . . 341-4. . . repeat. . . 1-442. . . and out. Steel preserve."

Upon reaching the co-ordinates. . .

The structure you find at the co-ordinates is little more than a rundown shack with a second floor tacked on, and if these hostiles knew enough to wait until you took down the sensors then they'd have known about this place, it must be the only kind of defensible position for miles, and a poor one at that. You'll have a little time before they've gathered their rat vanguard for another mass assault and there's enough trash and ruined furniture around to form barricades and maybe a few improvised weapons if you can find them, this was a simple perimeter run, you weren't carrying full battle load for expediency's sake so your primary weapons left you along with the flatbed. It's a hell of a mess, but this is what steel trained you to face without fear and so you simply square your shoulders for the trials ahead. All you need to do is make it through the night, hold fast and don't miss a beat and you still might make it through with only a few cool scars. If you don't make it. . . well, at least your names will live on in the great codex as true soldiers of Steel.
